applegate_kay_2.15.11

Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani found some time away from mulling over whether he’ll run again in 2012 to officiate the wedding between WPIX anchor Jodi Applegate and Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay this weekend at the famed Plaza Hotel in New York City.

Rudy Giuliani: I’ll Be More Likely To Run In 2012 If Sarah Palin Does

Rudy Giuliani has already announced that he’s “considering” a run for president in 2012, but, as he tells Piers Morgan in Monday’s episode of Piers Morgan Tonight, he’ll be much more likely to run if Sarah Palin decides to as well.

“Absolutely”: Rudy Giuliani Affirms That He’s Considering A Run In 2012

Picture 12 video

Is Rudy Giuliani running in 2012? Looks like it. Appearing on CNBC’s Kudlow Report, the former New York City mayor and 2008 presidential candidate confirmed he’s definitely thinking about getting into the race.

“America’s Mayor” was asked by host Larry Kudlow about rumors he’s planning a second bid for the GOP nomination:

Rudy Giuliani: Palin “Used A Wrong Word” But Entitled To Be “Very Upset”

Picture 4 Video

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani appeared on Face the Nation and suggested that in Sarah Palin‘s video on the Arizona shooting “she used a wrong word in responding to it, but I can see why she would feel very upset.” Rudy understood why Palin would be “shaken” by the accusations of some to link her to the murders, but implied that some term other than “blood libel” should have been used to express her feelings.

Chris Christie Slams Giuliani: “Rudy Is Wrong. It’s Easy To Sit In The Peanut Gallery And Shoot Away”

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie–still firmly defending his trip to Disney World during the last major snowstorm–took a strong swing at one of his snow critics, Rudy Giuliani.

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Christie slammed the former New York City mayor, saying it’s “easy to sit in the peanut gallery and shoot away…when you’re retired and out of politics.”

Newt Gingrich Uses Pearl Harbor Anniversary to Plug His Books – Update: Book Plug Deleted

NewtTweet

If you thought a Rudy Giuliani fundraiser with a suggested donation of $9.11 was tacky (Giuliani wasn’t directly involved, and later returned the donations), former House Speaker and possible 2012 candidate for President Newt Gingrich may have just upped the ante.

Giuliani On The View: There Will Be Plenty Of GOP Candidates Without Sarah Palin

Screen shot 2010-11-03 at 1.09.28 PM video

Welcome to day one of the 2012 Presidential Election Race. On The View this morning former Mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani weighed in on the question much of the media will spend at minimum the next six months hashing over: Will Sarah Palin run for President. Sort of. Actually, he threw a cold bucket of reality on her proposed plan.

Jon Stewart Equates Imam Rauf’s Alleged “Threats” To GOP Rhetoric Of Past Elections

islamaphobiapalooza video

On the day that a glowing magazine profile on Jon Stewart came out, The Daily Show host did not disappoint the presumed handful of New York readers who tuned in last night having just learned about the late night news-comedy host. Last night’s opening topic? “Islamophobiapalooza!” — a theme that Stewart used to connect the media firestorm over Rev. Terry Jones and Imam Rauf‘s comments to the very “threats” alleged to have been made by Dick Cheney, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani in past presidential elections.

Rudy Giuliani Revisits 9/11 With Fox & Friends Crew

Picture 7 video

September 11th has become a day of commemoration, reflection, and sharing memories, and this morning on Fox & Friends, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani dropped in to reflect on the past nine years in his city, the progress made in lower Manhattan, and the recent scandals surrounding Islam and the memory of 9/11.

Mika Brzezinski: Giuliani “Vomited Out Complete, Baseless Lies”

Mika Baseless Lies

Whoa, I think someone just hit a nerve. Today on Morning Joe, the gang was reading some viewer comments when one in particular put Mika Brzezinski on the defensive. “Garret from North Carolina” suggested that Mika be rewarded by the White House with her own press secretary lectern for her “unending enthusiasm to regurgitate every talking point they send her.” Mika defended herself (and took some shots at Rudy Giuliani) in a tirade that proved that Keith Olbermann isn’t the only one who doesn’t like his journalistic integrity questioned.

Rudy Giuliani: They’d Be Impeaching George W. Bush By Now

Picture 4 video

Suffice to say it’s going to take more than President Obama landing a $20 billion escrow fund from BP Oil to get the Republicans to say something nice about him. Nevertheless, Joe Scarborough asked former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is he has anything nice to say following yesterday’s Rose Garden announcement. The answer is no.

Steve Forbes: Nuking The Gulf Oil Spill ‘A New Form Of Obamacare’

Picture 5 video

The fascination with the Russian oil spill “nuclear option”– nearly-unanimously considered the craziest/most terrible idea to fix the oil spill so far– continues to make the cable news rounds. On this morning’s episode of Forbes on Fox, magazine mogul Steve Forbes thought it would be so bad, it would “be a new form of Obamacare.” Instead, he argued, President Obama should look to what 9/11-era Rudy Giuliani would do.

Giuliani: Obama Handled Oil Spill ‘Like A Political Problem, Not A Crisis’

giuliani_on_oilspill video

ormer New York mayor (and failed 2008 Presidential candidate) Rudy Giuliani appeared on on Hannity last night to discuss the political topics of the day with Sean Hannity, and delivered a strong and scathing critique of President Obama‘s management of the BP oil spill, saying it’s been handled more like a political problem and not an environmental crisis.

Rudy Giuliani: “UK Has The Best Intelligence Services In The World,” Except For Maybe Israel

Picture 4 video

Rudy Giuliani is making the media rounds again to discuss and mostly commend the police work that prevented a major terror attack from happening in Times Square last night. Talking terror on CNN, Giuliani noted that investigations can only ever be “right 99% of the time,” and compared the success in New York to the London subway attacks of 2005. In making that comparison, he noted that “the UK has the best intelligence services in the world, only equal to Israel.” Uh, is Giuliani forgetting something again?

Obama’s ‘Insane’ Nuclear Policy? Pundits Scream While GOP Yawns

Picture 5 video

Yesterday, President Obama announced a new nuclear policy restricting the instances in which the country is able to use nuclear weapons. Interestingly, the pundits seem to have more of a problem with the new policy than the politicians on the right.

Giuliani Slams Huffington As “The Worst Offender” Of Personal Attacks

giuliani_4-6 video

MSNBC’s Morning Joe had an all-star panel of politically diverse guests this morning for a lengthy discussion about foreign and domestic policy – but former New York City Governor Rudy Giuliani‘s presence (to basically endorse Marco Rubio) was what set off the real politics.

Arianna Huffington went after Giuliani over the past, and Joe Scarborough fired back.

Rudy Giuliani Tries To Talk Health Care, Mostly Endorses Torturing War Criminals

Picture 3 video

Forgotten former New York mayor and failed non-candidate to every possible public office in New York State (and President) Rudy Giuliani, KBE appeared on Fox and Friends this morning to analyze the passing of the Democrats’ health care bill. For what it’s worth, he thinks the bill will be, at the very least, a “disaster for New York.” Also, what is up with all these terrorists living such great lives in Gitmo, and other concerns from 2003.

Rachel Maddow On “Osama Bin Giuliani” And Liz Cheney’s “Al Qaeda 7″

lizcheney22 video

This might be Rachel Maddow at her most Rachel Maddow-iest, so make sure you write down tonight in your e-planner or whatever for the date when our favorite MSNBC host went supernova on Liz Cheney‘s “Keep America Safe” campaign.

Robert Gibbs On Rudy Giuliani Clarification: ‘Weird’ He Forgot 9/11

gibbs_giuliani

Even though the release of Game Change has made it seem like a relic, it was only Friday when former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani stated that there had been “no domestic attacks under Bush. Robert Gibbs responded with a dose of reality, but he hadn’t had a chance to react to Rudy’s later clarification (through a spokesman). I asked Gibbs about it today, and he just seemed glad that Giuliani had cleared up the most glaring omission.

Rachel Maddow Goes Off On Rudy Giuliani Over 9/11 Comments

Picture 1 video

The media reaction to Rudy Giuliani‘s “no domestic attacks under Bush” super gaffe has been both huge and varied. The former mayor claims he was misunderstood — he meant post-9/11 and on American soil. But here’s a big surprise: that wasn’t enough for Rachel Maddow, who last night attempted to eviscerate Giuliani on her broadcast, relentlessly proving the one-time presidential candidate wrong with history and his own words.

Giuliani Addresses “No Domestic Attacks” Comment; Gibbs, Stephanopoulos Respond

gibbs_on_rudy

At today’s White House briefing, Huffington Post’s Sam Stein asked Robert Gibbs about Rudy Giuliani‘s remarks on ABC’s Good Morning America. Gibbs succeeded where George Stephanopoulos failed, calling Rudy out for his inconsistent statements on civilian justice for terrorists, and observing that much of what Hizzoner said didn’t “quite gibe with reality.” You might say he took Giuliani to Schooliani.

Giuliani: “No Domestic Attacks Under Bush, One Under Obama”

rudy_911 video

Rudy Giuliani, who once threw a fundraiser where he asked for donations of $9.11, has suddenly forgotten all about the worst terrorist attack on American soil in history. He told GMA host George Stephanopoulos that there were no domestic attacks under George W. Bush, while there has been one under President Obama. Perhaps worse than that, Stephanopoulos seems to have forgotten about 9/11, the anthrax attacks, and the “Shoe bomber,” too.

Update: Giuliani and Stephanopoulos respond here.

MSNBC Lineup Takes On “Terrified” Republicans Over Mohammed Trial

video

Last night, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, and Rachel Maddow all took to the airwaves to criticize Republican lawmakers for their reluctance to see Khalid Sheikh Mohammed tried before a civilian court in New York. The trial seems poised to become the media spectacle we predicted it would this past weekend — but why? Do the left-right battle lines along which this seems to be falling even make sense?

Time‘s Person of the Year: Usually A Person (Sometimes)

It’s time again for Time magazine to choose their “Person of the Year” — but it may not be a person! An esteemed panel including Dr. Oz thinks it might be Twitter or The Economy. What are the chances? Phil Bump doesn’t like taking chances, so he breaks it all down by statistical probability: How likely is it that the Time “Person of the Year” will actually be … a person?

Winners And Losers: The Week Cable News Floated Away In A Balloon Without A Boy

It’s Friday, which means it’s time to separate the chumps from the champs in Mediaite’s new “Winners and Losers” — our scorecard of who rocked and who flopped in the week’s headlines. This week’s contenders include: Tracy Morgan, dropping F-bombs on former co-stars, Rush Limbaugh, dropped from his NFL bid or Meghan McCain, threatening to drop Twitter.
