Mike Huckabee Starts New Radio Call-In Show, First Caller Revealed To Be ‘Staged’
Former Gov. Mike Huckabee launched a new radio show yesterday which the network in charge, Cumulus Media Network, has positioned as a more moderate alternative to the likes of Rush Limbaugh by describing it as “more conversation, less confrontation.” This has angered some conservatives including The American Spectator‘s Jeffrey Lord. To make matters worse, Lord is now reporting that Huckabee’s first caller, who spoke effusively about how great it was to have someone like Huckabee on the radio, was actually just Cumulus executive Mike McVay.
Rush Limbaugh Leaving Philadelphia AM Station, To Be Replaced By Michael Smerconish
Rush Limbaugh‘s syndication in Philadelphia is getting a bit reorganized. The New York Times reports today that Premiere Radio Networks, which syndicates Limbaugh nationally, is taking him off of AM station WPHT. It is not know yet when the change will happen, but the station announced plans to replace Limbaugh with Philadelphia talk radio host Michael Smerconish, and the Times has a guess as to where Limbaugh will end up.
Rush Limbaugh: If There Is A War On Women, Obama Is The Generalissimo
One of the big stories of the 2012 election so far has been the fight for women voters. Basically it’s the Sadie Hawkins Dance in Washington and all the candidates are trying to pick out their nicest suit. After the Democrats made huge gains with women by pushing the GOP’s seemingly antiquated views on female health, Mitt Romney’s camp fought back by taking an economic tact. The GOP front runner claimed that the country’s economic struggles were hitting females the hardest. Rush Limbaugh jumped on the claim, arguing that “If there is a war on women, it is happening and it is being directed from the White House with [President] Obama as the generalissimo.”
Arby’s Pulls Ads From Rush Limbaugh, Proceeds To Block Conservative Critics On Twitter
On Thursday, Arby’s, the fast food chain, announced on Twitter that it would no longer advertise with Rush Limbaugh. Nothing too earth-shattering, given the number of companies that have already pulled advertising from Limbaugh. But predictably, the chain’s announcement was met with some criticism. So, what did Arby’s do? Went on a spree, blocking users who disagreed with the decision.
Hillary Clinton Condemns Rush Limbaugh’s ‘Verbal Assault’ On Sandra Fluke
Speaking to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Monday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton criticized Rush Limbaugh‘s controversial remarks about Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke. “I think we need to call people out when they go over the line,” Clinton rebuked. “They’re entitled to their opinion but no one is entitled to engage in that kind of verbal assault. Let’s keep it to the issues.”
Limbaugh Wonders If Edited 911 Call Will Prompt ‘Campaign To Boycott The Advertisers Of NBC News’
On his radio program on Monday, Rush Limbaugh called NBC’s internal investigation into the airing of the misleadingly edited George Zimmerman 911 call a “sham.” He also wondered if there would be a public campaign to boycott NBC News’ advertisers, similar to a recent effort against the advertisers of his own radio program, in the wake of this scandal.
Attacks On Rush Limbaugh Sponsors Turn Silly
To Media Matters and other left wing groups dedicated to silencing all opposing speech, the adrenaline surge caused by Rush Limbaugh’s controversial Sandra Fluke commentary must have tickled their knee-jerk reflexes the way blood chum in the water stimulates a shark. Hoping one of the strongest voices for conservatism had at long last made a lethal gaffe, these dedicated statist non-profiteers grabbed the modern equivalent of torches and pitchforks and in order to lay siege to the sponsors who advertise on Limbaugh’s lucrative and very much for-profit enterprise.
Limbaugh Warns Audience To Consider Future Racially Divisive Stories ‘Manufactured And Made Up’
Rush Limbaugh is ready to declare the controversy surrounding the shooting of Florida teen Trayvon Martin entirely contrived. On Thursday, he warned his radio audience to be cautious of future stories with a racial component as they are likely to be “manufactured and made up for the advancement of a political agenda.”
Washington Post Declares Rush Limbaugh Boycott Nearly Over, Failed
The effort to boycott advertisers on the Rush Limbaugh radio program appears to be drawing to a close, according to the Washington Post. Limbaugh had sparked the ire of a number of progressive groups for his multi-day attacks on Sandra Fluke for advocating Congress mandate copay-less insurance coverage of birth control and contraceptives. On Wednesday, WaPo’s Paul Farhi declared the boycott on Limbaugh’s advertisers was largely a failure.
Limbaugh Blasts Jeffrey Toobin: Should Know ObamaCare Is ‘Terrible For The United States of America’
On Rush Limbaugh’s radio program, the conservative radio host had tough words for CNN correspondent Jeffery Toobin. Limbaugh suggested on his program that Toobin was taken by surprise that the health care law could be considered unconstitutional and scolded him, saying “you ought to be among those who understand this thing is terrible for the United States of America.”
Limbaugh Is ‘Literally In A State Of Disbelief’ Obama Hasn’t Commented On New Black Panthers ‘Bounty’
Last week, The Daily Caller implied that President Obama had commented on the Trayvon Martin case because he was inspired by the New Black Panther Party. This week, the President’s critics are upset he isn’t speaking more, now about the Party itself.
Limbaugh Advertiser: Coordinated Effort To Ruin My Company Is ‘Internal American Terrorism’
On Monday afternoon, America Live host Megyn Kelly spoke with Mark Stevens, the founder of the global marketing firm MSCO and an advertiser for Rush Limbaugh‘s radio program who says his company has been targeted by people who want to put him out of business for his connection to the outspoken conservative host.
Limbaugh On Trayvon Martin Case: ‘These Are Political Opportunities’ For The Left, ‘No Compassion In That’
Rush Limbaugh added his perspective on the Trayvon Martin case on Monday, expressing his disbelief of President Obama’s response. Addressing the racial aspect, he questioned why those on the left see things in black and white, and “groupify” people. “The last thing that ever occurs to me when somebody gets shot,” Limbaugh said, “is that they look like me.”
Bill Maher: People Need To Stop Throwing ‘Conniption Fits’ Over Things They Find Offensive
If there’s one thing in this world that’s been able to unite people like Bill Maher and Ann Coulter, it’s the obsession some people seem to have with getting offended over every little thing people say. Being offended is the best way to change the subject in this country. Contraception? Nah, let’s talk about how Rush Limbaugh talked about contraception. Rush Limbaugh? Nah, let’s talk about Bill Maher instead. Assessing Obama’s abilities against the GOP candidates? Nah, let’s all complain about Robert De Niro instead.
O’Reilly Slams Anti-Limbaugh Radio Campaign: ‘There’s Something Very Fascist About All This’
As we’ve mentioned, liberal group Media Matters spent $100,000 to run anti-Limbaugh radio ads. On his show Thursday night, Bill O’Reilly decried the move as “something very fascist,” arguing that totalitarian states use the same tactic of silencing the opposition.
Liberal Group Spends $100,000 On Anti-Limbaugh Radio Campaign
The latest development in the backlash to Rush Limbaugh‘s comments about Sandra Fluke? A radio campaign. Media Matters is running two advertisements in eight cities — and spending at least $100,000 on the effort. The ads will use Limbaugh’s own words to attack him.
Rush Limbaugh: Maybe ‘Conservative Alternative To Romney Is Romney’
In light of Mitt Romney‘s decisive win in Illinois on Tuesday, Rush Limbaugh had some positive things to say about him based on Romney’s acceptance speech. Agreeing with notion that the primary is moving candidates farther to the right, Limbaugh argued the conservative alternative to Romney might be Romney himself — if he can avoid an Etch A Sketch shakeup during general election campaigning.
Limbaugh: Obama Supporters ‘Don’t Want To Admit That The First Black President Is A Failure’
On his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh described a profile of an average voter for President Obama (a profile which he said described the President himself) as someone “stunned” that Obama’s policies hadn’t worked. So, Limbaugh mused, how do you persuade this type of person to vote for Obama’s rival in 2012. The talk show host warned that you couldn’t just tell a person like this that they made a mistake. Left or right, hearing someone say that just makes someone dig in out of spite. Limbaugh added that things would be even harder because of the “racial component.”
Newt Gingrich Informs Us That The Latest Person We Should All Be Outraged At Is Robert De Niro
For everyone who hasn’t been paying attention, I’ve got a fun story to tell you. Once upon a time, a woman wanted to speak to Congress about how her friend was really sick and thought it would be nice if her school helped her get pills so she would be less sick. In retaliation, Rush Limbaugh called the woman a “slut.” This made a lot of people mad. And it was good. Because being mad is fun!
Showdown Author David Corn To Rush Limbaugh: ‘Call Me Slut!’
At a book party celebrating the release of his new book Showdown: The Inside Story of How Obama Fought Back Against Boehner, Cantor, and the Tea Party Monday night, author and MSNBC contributor David Corn responded to a rather tepid attack by conservative radio giant Rush Limbaugh. Corn thanked Limbaugh for plugging Showdown on Monday’s radio show, but added “I wish you’d call me a slut, because that’d probably really help sell books. There’s always tomorrow.”
Kirsten Powers On Hannity Panel: Left’s Refusal To Call Out Bill Maher For Misogyny Is ‘Disgusting’
As the Sandra Fluke controversy flounders along as one narrative along the greater opposition to needlessly offensive comments in the media against women, Sean Hannity updated his audience today on the reactions of liberal women to attacks by Bill Maher in contrast to the response to Limbaugh. It was surprisingly silent compared to the previous outcry, a reaction Kirsten Powers called “disgusting.”
Rush Limbaugh Shocked That ‘Mr. Civility’ Obama Had Cee Lo Green Sing ‘F*ck You’
Rush Limbaugh still seems to be a tad annoyed with the entire media world deciding he was the most evil man in America for a week. And, following his enjoyment of the (entirely organic) shifting of the story to focus on Bill Maher, Limbaugh has noticed another supporter of President Obama with a potty mouth. This time it’s Cee Lo Green who created an election year mega scandal (also known as a “regular year who gives a crap”) by singing “fuck you” during a performance of his song “Fuck You” at an Obama fundraiser.
Westboro Baptist Church Releases ‘You Might Be A Slut’ Ad, Hopes To Get It On Limbaugh’s Show
Rush Limbaugh‘s radio program is in need of new advertisers, and now he’s getting public offers from one group to advertise on the show. Only problem? It’s the Westboro Baptist Church. Yes, those fun-loving people came out with two ads on Friday that they hope will get a chance to air on Limbaugh’s show, though if the broadcasters decided not to run with ads from a company that promotes adultery, one can only imagine what their reaction to this must be.
Goldie Taylor On Limbaugh Advertisers: Could CNN Afford To Lose 140 Advertisers? No
Appearing on CNN Saturday afternoon with anchor Don Lemon, cultural critic and advertising veteran Goldie Taylor opined on Rush Limbaugh‘s hemoraghing advertisers and whether his show will be ultimately able to survive the firestorm stemming from his remarks to Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke. Taylor observed that Limbaugh’s brand had been damaged so much from the controversy, it will be tough for him to keep his show going.
David Axelrod: Maher Doesn’t Play Same Role As GOP ‘De Facto Boss’ Rush Limbaugh
On Thursday, CNN’s Erin Burnett spoke with David Axelrod, the communications director for President Obama’s re-election campaign, about his recently-canceled plans to appear on controversial host Bill Maher‘s HBO program.
