obama_1242299c video

Super PACs have been facing heavy criticism since the moment they were created but, lately, that outcry has become nearly deafening. One of the harshest critics has been President Obama. That’s why it was awesome for his campaign to write a blog post explaining why they need to win eliminate Super PACs by winning the election…using a Super PAC. This morning on CNN, Obama supporter Russell Simmons defended the President’s “second Super PAC wrong to make a campaign finance reform right” approach.

Russell Simmons Offers To Buy Up All The Remaining Ad Time For TLC’s All-American Muslim

Russell_Simmons_1

Now that is putting your money where your mouth is. Yesterday, Russell Simmons had spoken out on the cowardly companies like Lowe’s who had buckled to extremist conservative pressure to stop advertising on TLC’s All-American Muslim, a show that dared (DARED!) to show Muslim Americans who weren’t crazed terrorists bathing in the blood of Christians or something. Furious at the seeming victory of bigotry, Simmons did what any person with integrity, passion, and an absolutely insane amount of money would do; he offered to buy up all the now-vacant ad space himself.

Tonight’s Hannity boasted a fairly special interview, and one of those rare occurrences where two people who disagree on most everything about politics can get together and debate passionately without lacking in warmth. The guest? Russell Simmons, rap mogul turned Occupy Wall Street sympathizer who came on the program to argue the merits of the movement to a skeptical Hannity, and wound up trying to defend a comment that Hannity was “more gangsta” than Snoop Dogg.

KanyeOccupyWallStreet

After weeks of rallies and protests springing up all over the country the Occupy Wall Street movement has certainly shown it has traction. The crowds, the visuals, the inherent drama — all have garnered its share of attention. The media has been rapt but that brings with it another unintentional collateral effect. Tracy Morgan eventually apologized for his recent anti-gay tirade, even telling our sister site GossipCop that he “clearly went too far” and that his comments were “not funny in any context.” Besides, you guys, his friends know what’s in his heart.

To further make amends (or, you know, improve his public image), Morgan has now announced his desire to attend a rally in favor of same-sex marriage. In an interview with GlobalGrind conducted by Russell Simmons, Morgan says that he would likely love his son even more were he ever to come out

We know you’ve been waiting tirelessly for hip hop mogul Russell Simmons to break his silence on the media. Well, kids, your wait is over.
