It is rare that a story so complex, tedious, and time-consuming as the current potential debt default Congress is fighting up takes up all the breathing room in the news cycle, and it has definitely taken a toll on the American people’s faith in government, if not on their attention span. Luckily, Jimmy Fallon and Brian Williams have put together a recap in what is possibly the only medium through which the story is palatable: the classic Slow Jam.

Honestly, are we 100 percent sure NBC Night News anchor Brian Williams wouldn’t be better utilized as a floating comedian, doing bits on SNL, 30 Rock and Jimmy Fallon? Wait. He’s already doing that and the news.

Case in point, Tuesday on Late Night, where Fallon interrupted a bit about the tax cut deal, saying the story really needs to be “slow jammed.”

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Friday for an interview segment as well as a cameo with The Roots and Fallon during their regular “Slow Jam The News” sketch.

“Brilliams” talked budget in song, and joked about NBCU’s problems during the interview.
