This week’s “Digital Short” featured Zach Galifianakis searching for a new assistant, and interviewing various young children to see if they fit the bill. He asked them all the usual interview questions: how much the kids knew about Justin Bieber, how often and how badly their feet smelled, and whether or not they could tell the difference between a stapler and a phone.

Rihanna is so damn hot. Andy Samberg’s “Shy Ronnie” is so damn not. Which is just one of the fun juxtapositions set up by the second installment of the getting-close-to-being-pretty-damn-iconic “Shy Ronnie” SNL digital short.

I tried to come up with a headline that would accurately capture the weirdness of this short, but you should probably just watch it. I like how these SNL digi-shorts are starting to use guests in less predictable ways (though honestly – how through the roof would a kick-ass parody of ‘Empire State’ of Mind [...]

SNL can suffer for high expectations, but Samberg’s digital shorts have the best batting average on the show — and tonight was a classic. Why Rihanna was performing before a classroom of young children with an awkward, brace-faced kid named Shy Ronnie isn’t important, it’s just that it happened.
