At America Live the answer is booking Stephen Baldwin; another embattled actor — though one of a completely different stripe — who ends up giving as insightful a take as anyone else has thus far.

Cynics may watch the interview with Baldwin and quickly reply “not winning” (which is the current parlance of ironically detached media commentators (also known a “Twitter”) but its somewhat refreshing to see Baldwin share his own unique experience in analyzing the media train wreck that is Charlie Sheen, even if his explanation relies heavily on faith and religion (which is not everyone’s cup of tea.)

Ok…maybe it wasn’t the biggest, but at least this one appears like it will actually come to a better ending than most as Baldwin has offered a public apology to the Fox News host via AOL’s PopEater.

It all started last week when Hannity played the 2007 voice mail recording of Alec Baldwin yelling at his daughter on his radio show. Stephen, defending his brother, sent an angry quote to the New York Post which started a week-long war of words.

Fortunately, it looks like Baldwin (the younger) has realized that this fight wasn’t a very Christian thing for either of the two devout public figures to engage in, so, since he can’t retroactively turn the other cheek, he’s offered a public apology while speaking to PopEater’s Rob Shuter.

Transcript via AOL:

“I’m here … to publicly apologize to Sean Hannity and say that I’m very sorry. That was not the correct thing to do, and I feel terrible about it. In turn, it became a much more exacerbated situation because he got upset and he got angry and kind of used his platform in a greater way to make the matters worse. So I just wanna call it even, and wanna say Sean, from the bottom of my heart, God bless ya. I apologize and wanna take the higher road here, bury the hatchet and just hopefully start over.”

When Shuter asked him how it all started, Baldwin explained that it truly hurts to hear anyone attack his family in public and that it’s the old Massapequa, New York still in him. He said that, were he to see someone hit one of his brothers on a red carpet, he wouldn’t be able to help from “beating the tar out of the guy.” However, he promised with a smile that he’d make sure to pray for forgiveness afterwards.

But he’s cool with that, because he’s got even bigger aspirations: to become “the George Soros for Jesus.” How will he achieve this? As he told nymag.com’s Daily Intel, “I’m 44 years old, my plan is to be a billionaire by 50, which these days, that’s very doable.”

And even though most people don’t like hearing a celebrity at a movie screening say that acquiring a billion dollars is “very doable,” especially during a recession, he did outline his six-year path to riches:

Baldwin’s “doable” route to becoming a billionaire leads through new business ideas and partnerships with existing companies. For example, he is spokesperson for and has an ownership stake in Opflex, an oil-cleanup company working in the Gulf of Mexico, and he’s also working on an “energy technology involving the ability to control the electrical currents within any type of apparatus that has a motor.”

He also waxed political, telling Daily Intel that he’s “got to get on the phone with Sarah Palin as soon as possible. From about 50 or 60 yards, she had a clear shot at a moose there, and she missed the first three times!” But he can’t be that mad at her: “You know, Sarah called me her favorite Baldwin brother on SNL.” See, she’s just “Sarah” now.

In the end, he acknowledged that his reputation might hinder his lofty ambitions. “I think I’m more of a partier than Tea Partier, you know, if my reputation is at all true.” You can read more from the former drug addict and future billionaire over at nymag.com.

Calling someone a “charity case” is normally a metaphor for someone down on their luck. In the case of actor Stephen Baldwin the label has never been so apt. The Restoration of Stephen Baldwin is a newly formed website for fans to donate money in support of the actor since his recent bankruptcy filing. The cause for his money problems? His proud convictions as a born again believer in Jesus Christ, which has caused ridicule and financial ruin.

Over the last decade or so, actor Stephen Baldwin has evolved in status from successful Hollywood movie star, to punchline – if a comedian needs to reference an actor down on his luck, odds are that he’ll mention “the least popular of the Baldwin Brothers.” Baldwin believes this is due to his transformation to Born Again Christian, and has now set up a website where users can donate money to him. Because it appears that he really needs it.

From the website “The Restoration of Stephen Baldwin“:

Stephen Baldwin of the famous “Baldwin Brothers” Hollywood clan is a veteran actor who has starred in over 60 films and TV shows. He is no stranger to the Hollywood life of glitz, glamour and the public eye.

In 2002, he had an experience that changed his life forever. He became a Born Again Christian, giving his life to Jesus Christ. Over the next few years, he became very vocal about his faith, using his spotlight to boldly preach the gospel. However, because of his convictions it has caused him the loss of many jobs and the most recently, a highly publicized bankruptcy.

He has been publicly ridiculed and insulted by people who think that he has been abandoned by God. A simple search through the internet will reveal that people not only mock Stephen, but mock God.

In response to this (with the permission of Stephen’s ministry President Daniel Southern) we have established RestoreStephenBaldwin.org. A privately funded and managed website. Our vision is to see Stephen Baldwin publicly restored in front of millions. Stephen’s platform will increase allowing him to reach even more people with the Gospel and God will get all of the glory. Publicly.

Following is a video from his website in which Baldwin is compared to Job (no, not the dimwitted Arrested Development character Gob, but the Old Testament guy):

Actor, author and political activist Stephen Baldwin was part of a panel on Larry King Live last night, discussing health care reform and the Obama administration. When host Larry King came to Baldwin, he proclaimed “it’s official today, Barack Obama is the greatest gangster to ever come out of Chicago,” then followed with “Mr. Obama’s a liar.”

Baldwin then went on to point out that the health care bill failed to get one Republican vote, which he seemed to la at the feet of the Obama Administration. He then went on to rhetorically ask how, what he called a “broken government” could fix “broken health care system.”

Baldwin was joined by Kevin Madden, spokesman and senior advisor for Mitt Romney in his 2008 presidential bid, Marc Lamont Hill, professor at Columbia University, and actor and comedienne, Aisha Tyler, and was initially asked if he was offended by Vice President Joe Biden‘s f-bomb. “Well, you know Larry, the bible says that out of the mouth comes the things that are in our heart, so I’m not surprised by Vice President’s potty mouth.”

Later in the segment Madden rebuked Baldwin, and took the high road, claiming that he was not interested in calling his opponents names. Lamont Hill also said that it was intellectually dishonest to claim, as Baldwin did, that 50% of American’s are unhappy with this bill simply because they were conservative. King asked Baldwin if he wanted to reconsider his words, to which he replied “absolutely not, Larry. The difference between me and everyone else talking is that I’m not afraid of the repercussions of speaking the truth.”

While many on the left will quickly point this out as an example of racial insensitivity, others will see it as an example of of the post-racial time in which we now find ourselves. We at Mediaite will enable you, dear viewer, to make your own judgments after watching the following clip of his comment.

Semi-stars…they’re just like us! Rick Sanchez teases a segment today featuring his interview with Stephen Baldwin about some financial woes. The chyron was kind of brutal.

“Stephen Baldwin’s Got Problems Too” splashed the chyron, implying that, just like you, a Baldwin brother is struggling with money.

“Stephen Baldwin wants you to know if you can’t pay your mortgage, neither can he,” says Sanchez in the tease. “He says he wants to, by the way, pay his mortgage, get out of foreclosure, so what’s the issue?”
