Conan O’Brien’s First TBS Monologue: Still Bitter About The NBC Break-Up

conan_11-8 video

Conan O’Brien made his return to late night TV tonight with the first episode of TBS’ Conan. In some ways, the opening monologue of the premiere picked up from where he left off in the two weeks of his former NBC show – a lot of references to his now-ex-employer.

Only now, he’s on Twitter.

The Real Team Coco: TBS Reveals Fall Lineup At Upfront

Proper Nouns Now Allowed In Scrabble: Your Mediaite Cheat Sheet

Picture-48

As reported by Robert Quigley over at Geekosystem, a pretty substantial change was reported as coming to a classic language-driven board game: the legalization of proper nouns in Scrabble. Robert was able to track down a Mattel rep to discuss the change (he’s a little shaken up about it), and he found some good news to assure purists that the traditional game is not being altered. The change seems only to apply to a more “family-oriented variant” of the game.

Again, just to be clear: Jay Leno would like you to know that this is not his fault. Here’s what Leno would like you to know: He doesn’t have an agent or a manager — a handshake is all right by him. His version of the Tonight Show was #1 when NBC asked him to [...]

Jimmy Kimmel’s evisceration of Jay Leno last night was incredible – as much of the Internet has noted – but not just for the reasons people are giving.

Even ‘Team Leno’ Is For Conan?

teamleno

Much has already been written about how much support Conan O’Brien has received on Twitter, and the Internet in general. “Team Conan” is a brand new meme, sprung from the recent developments/soap opera surrounding NBC’s late night programming (in)decision. But what of “Team Leno”? Surely Jay Leno must have legions of supporting fans? Well, maybe not.

Conan Slams NBC — Again — And, This Time, Leno

Conan Kenneth the Page video

It’s official: Conan’s bitter.

Tonight, again, Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien‘s monologue was laced with jokes sticking it to NBC — plus the first salvos that seemed intentionally aimed at Jay Leno. Until tonight, Conan’s mentions of Leno himself were benign, instead focusing on NBC’s plans with respect to both their shows — which Leno has echoed emphatically on his own show. Tonight, that ended.

The Conan vs. Leno Wars: Hitler Weighs In

There has been much written about and discussed since the Big Late Night TV Shakeup of 2010 has commenced. No doubt we will all remember where we were on the day we heard the news that Jay was bumping Conan from the 11:35 pm time slot. As a fully-fledged member of Team Conan, let’s just [...]

Conan O’Brien: Statement on NBC, Leno and The Tonight Show

Here is the full text of the statement released by Tonight Show Conan O’Brien this afternoon, confirming that he would not accept a 12:05 a.m. time slot for his show and would not follow Jay Leno at 11:35 p.m.

Jay Leno Would Like You To Know That This Is Not His Fault

Conan O’Brien’s kiss-off letter to NBC is going to make him a hero, not only to people who started off loving him, but because he’s been cast as the underdog here, unfairly subject to the failings of Jay Leno and fickleness of NBC. But Leno wants a bit of that victim spotlight, too.
