Former LAPD Police Chief and Collaborate Or Perish! author William Bratton seems to have dropped something of a bomb on Current TV’s The Young Turks, telling host Cenk Uygur Tuesday night that his LAPD “had interactions with the CIA” to “to make them aware of our capabilities and our needs.”

While the CIA’s coordination with the NYPD has been big news, Bratton’s bombshell has proven a silent but deadly, barely registering with the news media.

Fox News’ Leland Vittert, reporting from on location in Jerusalem, is offering the first U.S. interview with a woman who was incarcerated after unsuccessfully attempting to kill Israelis with a bomb she had strapped to her body. As Vittert sees it, the report “shatters the illusion that those who are driven by hate can have their minds changed.”

Joe Lieberman has always been a great pioneer for internet freedom. Last year, he suggested that the United States should implement an internet kill switch in the event of a cyberattack by taking its cues from China. Now Lieberman is calling for the world’s most popular search engine to censor material that could potentially be used to spread terrorist information.

Rep. Ron Paul was on the receiving end of some of the hardest questions he has taken since the 2012 campaign for president began, perhaps not in small part due to his recurring appearance at the top of Republican polls. On today’s Face the Nation, Bob Schieffer pressed Rep. Paul to explain how his attitude towards American foreign policy did not amount to “saying Americans caused 9/11,” and how he would deal with Iran in a way that would guarantee safety.

On Fox News Sunday this weekend, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) continued the tradition of politicizing foreign policy by accusing President Obama of politicizing foreign policy, telling anchor Chris Wallace that “Iraq and Afghanistan is being run out of Chicago, not Washington, in terms of decisions.” Graham also beat the familiar drum that “Israel has been thrown under the bus” by the administration, falsely claiming that the President’s “standing in the state of Israel is very low,” despite the fact that 81% of Israelis approve of his policies.

In what is sure to be a parade of Republican figures ignoring or downplaying President Obama’s pitch-perfect handling of dictator Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney reacted to news of the tyrant’s death, in an interview with Iowa radio station KSCJ, by saying, “It’s about time.”

Former Obama spokesman Bill Burton‘s Priorities USA Action PAC continues to strafe Mitt Romney like an ED-209 on a sugar high, this time with an ad pegged to Romney’s recent assembly of a foreign policy team. While the spot cleverly toggles from Romney’s foreign policy chops to his record of exporting American jobs, the real significance of this ad is the fact that it’s the first sign of terrorism as an issue in the 2012 campaign, one that President Obama is well-positioned to run on.

On Fox News Sunday today, Chris Wallace and panel debated the targeted killing of U.S. citizen and al-Qaeda member Anwar al-Awlaki and whether or not it was within the legal rights of the United States government to carry out that military action. Wallace highlighted the position taken by some liberals and conservatives that since al-Awlaki was an American citizen, he should have been subjected to the American justice system instead of being taken out on foreign soil.

At 5:15 a.m. ET, ABC News reported that the Yemeni government has confirmed that American-born Al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki has been killed in Yemen.

Further ABC News reports from White House correspondent Jake Tapper reveal that there had been a “flurry of activity” on the tenth anniversary of 9/11.

Anwar Al-Awlaki, the terrorism suspect who was controversially placed on the United States’ kill or capture list (the first US citizen to be so “honored”), has been killed, according to reports confirmed by government officials. Al-Awlaki was killed by a US missile strike in Yemen, near the Saudi border. A high-level operative of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Al-Awlaki was linked to the Fort Hood shooting, and unsuccessful underwear bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

Fox News contributor and former Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters expressed his hope on Fox News today that people would not give in to “scaremongering” and stop “seeing al-Qaeda under every prayer rug and be proud.” Host Megyn Kelly cited a recent column by Charles Krauthammer arguing that al-Qaeda has been weakened because of the “massive and unrelenting war on terror.”

In an appearance on Fox’s American Newsroom, Mediaite Managing Editor Colby Hall discussed the suggestion that last night’s terror alert was part of some media manipulation by The White House. Hall dismissed the premise as “unfair,” and also wondered why the Obama administration has turned the War on Terror into a “real political strength,” but shows no sign of running on it.

As President Obama and daughter Sasha are transferred to a motorcade for the remainder of the trip, a civilian aircraft is intercepted by F-15 fighters. Also on Friday, the FBI issues a warning about the possibility that al Qaeda may use small aircraft in a terror attack.

A new survey released by the Pew Research Institute today reports that the majority of Muslim Americans are disavowing of religious extremism, view American policies as sincere, and are about as educated and religious as the rest of the American public. And while a majority of Muslim Americans feel singled out by anti-terrorism policies, they are increasingly satisfied with the way things are going in the U.S. and within their communities — a sentiment that runs counter among an increasingly dissatisfied broader American public.

Bill O’Reilly has dedicated a significant amount of his debt crisis coverage to the rhetoric in the media against the Tea Party, particularly the comparisons made to the group and “terrorists” or “jihadis.” Tonight he continued, citing an “unacceptable” coordinated effort on the left to smear the Tea Party. But guest Charles Krauthammer disagreed– he refused to “credit” the left with “what it takes to put together a conspiracy.”

The rhetoric against the Tea Party movement has escalated in extremism during the debt ceiling debate, partially because many on the left and in the center considered the Tea Party members of Congress the only thing standing between America maintaining its credit rating and defaulting on the debt. On tonight’s O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly and Bernie Goldberg differed on the level of outrage about that, but both took the time to chuckle about their aversion to labeling “real terrorists” but quickness to drop the word on domestic opponents.

Norwegian television has released footage from the recent explosion in downtown Oslo. In the video, Norwegian diners react in terror as restaurant windows are blown in by the blast. Cameras in both the main dining area and the kitchen of the kebab restaurant capture what is basically “the calm before the storm,” with people chatting, eating and flipping through a magazine when they’re very suddenly caught unawares by the explosion.

A lawyer for Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian man who allegedly detonated a bomb in downtown Oslo and opened fire at a youth camp meeting on the nearby island of Utøya, is speaking out about his client, painting a portrait of a man “surprised” by the carnage he caused.

Norwegian shooter Anders Breivik and his alleged right-wing connections are predictably finding partisan commentators lining up with their appropriate teams. While some doubt the legitimacy of Breivik’s political leanings, others like MSNBC’s Martin Bashir just as ludicrously speculate here that it was “extremist American thinking” that inspired Breivik. Yes it’s cathartic (I guess?) to immediately find a group to hold responsible for the actions of individual terrorists, but until an investigation conclusively determines Breivik’s motive and allegiance, what good comes of anyone aimlessly pointing fingers of blame at their political opponents?

Former Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton weighed in the during the aftermath of the Norway bombings on Friday night with Martha MacCallum. While information began to drip out regarding the political leanings of the alleged suspect behind the attacks, Anders Behring Breivik, Bolton remained highly skeptical of early reports and worried “political correctness” might be impacting the release of information.

As investigators attempt to make sense of the tragic events in Norway yesterday that officials now claim left at least 92 dead both in the capital of Oslo and Utoya Island, new details have begun to surface as to the identity of the man behind the shooting, and whether he acted alone. Despite an Islamic fundamentalist group trying to take credit for the attacks, Norweigian officials have apprehended a suspect with an entirely different background: “a right-wing Christian fundamentalist who may have had an issue with Norway’s multi-cultural society.”

Details are continuing to emerge about the tragic events happening today in Oslo. A terrorist group known as Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami, or “Helpers of the Global Jihad” has released a statement claiming responsibility for the attacks, that have been responsible for the deaths of seven people so far, according to The New York Times. The AP reports that the bombings of government buildings are connected to a man dressed up as a police officer who opened fire on a group of Labor party members earlier today. The man was soon arrested by Norwegian police. UPDATE – the individual has been identified as a Norwegian native and appears to have no affiliation with Islamic extremists.

Rapper Lupe Fiasco, né Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, appeared on The O’Reilly Factor tonight to discuss recent statements he made calling President Barack Obama a “terrorist.” The interview culminated, as one might have expected, in a shouting match between Fiasco and host Bill O’Reilly about the very nature of the so-called war on terror.
