Mediaite Year One: Tiger Woods Story Shows How Much Media Has Changed

Dave Levy

On the occasion of Mediaite’s year anniversary earlier this week, some of our staff members and contributors look back on what kind of crazy, weirdo year it was. There are two versions of the story about the last months of the life and times of Eldrick “Tiger” Woods. There’s the sports story, of course, but [...]

Not Now! Pre-Taped Tiger Woods Interview: ‘Family First, Golf Second’

On November 17th, ten days before his marriage-(and career?)-ruining car accident, Tiger Woods had no idea how the rest of his 2009 would play out. He was probably riding high, maybe enjoying his money and definitely giving an interview to New Zealand sports analyst Murray Deaker. Gossip Cop is reporting that although the interview was scheduled to air on Christmas day, because of um… unforeseen circumstances, the eight-minute clip aired today. And focused mostly on Tiger Woods: Family Man.

Winners and Losers: The Tiger Woods Edition

It’s the weekend, which means it’s time to separate the chumps from the champs in Mediaite’s “Winners and Losers” — our scorecard of who rocked and who flopped in the week’s headlines. Soundbite: Tiger Woods Said He Needed ‘A Kobe Special’ For His Wife

TMZ is reporting that Woods mentioned the “Kobe Special” on Friday, leaving his friend on the phone confused at his facetious reference. What’s the Kobe Special, the friend asked. “A house on a finger,” Woods said, referring to the massive diamond basketball star Kobe Bryant bought for his wife after his own domestic ordeal. Sounds like a joke, eh? Punch line and all. Late show writers — take notes!

Tiger Woods: “This Situation Is My Fault” — First Statement, 911 Tape Released

Tiger Woods has released a statement via his website about this weekend’s tabloid dream car accident, and yet things remain as vague as ever. BNO News is reporting that Woods has cancelled his police interview for the third time, though Florida police have released the 911 call made by the golf star’s neighbor at the time of the accident. Listen inside, and check out Woods’ statement.

As more details emerged about the circumstances of the Tiger Woods car crash, the more suspicions were raised that there may be more to the story.

Now TMZ.com has blown the reported version of events wide open – alleging domestic violence led to the injuries, and the car crash was used as a cover up.

Tiger Woods Injured In Car Accident (No Alcohol, But “Charges Pending”)

This afternoon, news broke that golfer Tiger Woods had been injured in a car accident early this morning near his home in Florida. According to his agent he is “fine” though he has suffered facial lacerations; also, great pains have been taken to get the word out that alcohol was not involved. That said, “charges are pending.”
