Picture 4 video

Oh, those enterprising morning zoo radio show hosts, where would we be without them? For some reason, someone decided to disguise themselves as a USA Today reporter to prank call today’s BP press conference announcing the end of Top Kill, and asked BP COO Doug Suttles about “The Kidd Chris Show,” a shock jock morning show based in Portland, Oregon.

After rumors circulated earlier today that BP’s “Top Kill” method of plugging the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico failed, BP COO Doug Suttles hosted a press conference today to make it official that Top Kill did not succeed and that they were moving on to “the next option”: the “lower marine riser package,” which they had been planning “all along.”

Earlier today, BP COO Doug Suttles had no good news for local reporters following the company’s “top kill” effort to plug the oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, telling them that it had not yet worked and he did not know whether it would be successful yet. And now a few moments ago, CNN Assignment Editor Nick Valencia is reporting on Twitter that Plaquemines President Billy Nungesser has received and email saying Top Kill has officially failed.

The “top kill” plan to plug the oil leak is still proceeding according to plan, but it is still too early to adequately access the success or failure of this most recent strategy to stem the oil leak tide from the blown-out well in the Gulf of Mexico. This comes from the most recent press conference that served as a progress report – a video of which is below featuring BP’s Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles.

Earlier today, U.S. Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the “Top Kill” has been effective in stopping the flow of oil and gas into the Gulf of Mexico from a gushing BP well. The “top kill” method was seen as the last, and best effort to stem the environmental disaster that has been ongoing for over a month. Video of the effort after the jump.

Top Kill Update: BP Will Know If Attempt Was Successful In 24 Hrs

BP began working on their “Top Kill” plan to plug the giant oil well gushing into the Gulf of Mexico earlier today and held a press conference earlier tonight with BP COO Doug Suttles to give an update on the situation. There was some good news: there are 65 barrels of mud going into the well per minute, and it should be another 24 hours before the well is plugged, if all goes well. Suttles admits, however, that BP really won’t know if the efforts were successful or not until then.

Rick Sanchez understands BP’s so-called “top kill” attempt to plug the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, and he’s ready to share his discovery with the world, clad in an outfit that would make David Hodo proud. Too bad his production team doesn’t seem to agree.

Shep Smith Says BP Oil Spill Could Be Bigger Than 9/11

It’s no secret that Shepard Smith feels quite passionate about the devastation the BP oil spill has wreaked on the Gulf. Today, as BP prepares to test the experimental “Top Kill” plan to stop the leak, Shep spent a large part of his Studio B show talking about the procedure and trying to gauge what the fallout will be if this latest plan doesn’t work and we have to wait till August for the relief well to be dug: “Will life in the Gulf ever be the same again?”

Administration “Angry And Frustrated” With BP Oil

As you might imagine the latest update on the BP Oil Spill is not good. The company is apparently trying a new method of stopping the “runaway” leak that involves something called a “top kill” (explained below). Meanwhile, after all this, the spill may indeed become Obama’s Katrina in so far as cries the government has not done enough appear to be mounting.
