Change Comes To Those Who Do Not Give Up
In light of the recent election of a Republican to fill the late Senator Ted Kennedy’s seat, the challenge of passing a sweeping reform bill to overhaul America’s health care system might appear to have gotten a little bit harder. But to those of us who view universal access to affordable health care as our most urgent domestic problem, it WILL NOT change our resolve. (more...)
Regardless of What Happens Today, We – the People – Need to Finish Health Care Reform
Regardless of what happens today in Massachusetts, the health care bill is still worth passing, still a mission worth fighting for. Since my brother, Eric De La Cruz, passed away on July 4th, 2009 – in part because he could not get insurance due to a pre-existing condition – I’ve traveled the country, mobilizing people to get involved and apply pressure to our elected leaders to pass health care reform. Pretty Help Machine: Trent Reznor and “Eric’s Army” Unite On Twitter To Save A Life
I posted earlier earlier about about my friend Veronica De La Cruz, who has been working social media like crazy to save her brother Eric, who needs a heart transplant but couldn't get one due to ridiculous inter-state red tape (he's covered in Nevada but there are no centers who perform the operation; however, the nearest out-of-state facility is ineligible because his Nevada health insurance won't cover it).
