Judge Napolitano Interviews Reporter Arrested For Filming Public D.C. City Meeting

Earlier this week, a shocking report from Reason Magazine revealed how one of its online producers had been arrested for filming the arrest of another reporter filming a public meeting of the D.C. Taxicab commission. That reporter, Jim Epstein, appeared earlier this week on Fox Business’s Freedom Watch and told host Judge Andrew Napolitano that, now released, he had still not been given adequate explanation from police as to why he was arrested.

Sarah Palin might not be trusted with nuclear weapons by everyone, but when it comes to creating buzz, she’s as reliable as they come. Palin rode into Washington, D.C. on a motorcycle today to kick off a bus tour of the Northeast, and got plenty of attention for it, including from a Fox News reporter on the scene – but judging by Palin’s enthusiasm when asked about the ride, it was well worth it, attention or not.

With a goal of breaking out of Washington and speaking to the folks who have their finger closer to the pulse of the country’s important issues, President Obama chose to speak to local news affiliate 9News in Denver, Colorado. Most revealing from the awkward interview was Obama’s admission, “I don‘t think there’s a sense that I’ve been successful. I think people feel that Washington still is dysfunctional.” Oh boy, where to begin.

The official countdown to the Rally to Restore Sanity (and/or Fear) began last night, when The Daily Show kicked off its one-week D.C. residency. In addition to quips about NPR tote bags and knife fights with Fox, Monday’s episode included a charming segment in which Daily Show correspondents Jason Jones, Wyatt Cenac, and John Oliver gave six lucky fans the opportunity to arrive at the rally in style: on an official Rally To Restore Sanity Bus.

Politico Owner To Start Local D.C. News Site; Hiring 50 Journalists

Politico’s Robert Allbritton is planning a Washington, D.C. local news website, according to a report today from The New Republic. Touted as a direct competitor for the Washington Post, the new project will function as an online metro mix of aggregation and original reporting, helmed by former Washingtonpost.com editor Jim Brady.

Internal Fox News Email Addresses “Standards” After 9/12 Flap

Mediaite has obtained an email from Fox News Vice President of News and Washington managing editor Bill Sammon to the staff of the D.C. bureau, in the wake of an FNC producer caught pumping up the crowd during the 9/12 tea party broadcast.

The email, with the subject line “standards,” addresses the controversy head-on: “We do not cheerlead for one cause or another,” writes Sammon. Full email after the jump:
