Ah, there’s nothing like a little accidental cursing. That’s what befell a poor reporter from WPIX in New Jersey who was attempting to report on snow building on the highway. He was trying to say that the snow was sticking to the “asphalt.” See if you can’t guess what he actually said…

Hey, gang! It looks like it’s time for another round of our favorite weekday television game, “Did Someone Just Curse on The Five?” After the last round with Eric Bolling (which led to a big debate here at Mediaite headquarters), we’re back with the game’s frequent star, Bob Beckel. During a discussion of Janeane Garofalo’s comments on Countdown, Greg Gutfeld made a claim that “the Republican Party tries to raise the boats for everyone, including blacks.” Beckel clearly disagreed and let it be known with a loud expletive.

“I’m pretty much speechless at what we’ve been seeing,” said the Weather Channel’s Eric Fisher as he struggled against Hurricane Irene’s winds at Virginia Beach. However, the thing that was shocking him wasn’t the weather as much as the tons of people he saw wandering around, seemingly not caring about the huge storm they were in the middle of. And then, as if to accentuate his point, a young man in a bathing suit ran by, dropped his shorts, and gave national audiences a view of his storm front.

Was there another f-word on The Five today? If so, it wouldn’t be terribly surprising. When you’ve got a live show where the debates sometimes get contentious, this stuff happens. No, we’re just amused it wasn’t Bob Beckel this time. In fact, just a couple minutes after Beckel made a joke about not being able to say a word he wanted, it was Eric Bolling who let one slip

Last week, there was a bit of an on-air flub on BBC’s World News channel that somehow escaped the blooper-happy eye of the Internet. However, today, the clip went viral and it went viral hard. For good reason too. You haven’t seen hilarious until you’ve seen Michael Wolff, intending to be interviewed in his role as Rupert Murdoch biographer, instead get caught up in a segment about baseball. Seriously, this is great.

There’s nothing more annoying than trying to do something in front of the camera and having someone on set distracting you. So, you’ve got to feel for KECI’s Mark Heyka. He was trying to do the weather and people were making loud noises. Still, if you’re going to mock their loud noises with your own loud noises, it’s best to remember that you’re the one being recorded…

A month ago, television audiences were horrified when it appeared that Los Angeles reporter Serene Branson had suffered a stroke on live TV (it was later discovered to be a migraine that mimicked the appearance of a stroke). Last night, a similar incident has occurred in Toronto, as Global News’ Mark McAllister was seen suffering from some kind of medical issue while attempting to report on Libya.

Pop quiz, hot shot. You’re an anchor for a news show about to present a food segment and you just spilled a bunch of the food on the floor. It’s your job to make this food look good. How are you going to save the segment? Well, if you answered, “Eat it off the floor,” then you’ve won! What you’ve won I’m not so sure.

Let this be a lesson to you all: Show up to work on time. CNN’s Martin Savidge appeared to have run straight from the make up chair to the camera this afternoon as he was entirely out of breath while trying to deliver the day’s headlines. It’s a brave attempt but, as you’ll see, not entirely successful.

Earlier this morning, the folks over at Fox News had a bit of teleprompter mishap that completely disrupted a news story. Of course, while some might see this as just another example of the hazards of live TV, we see it as a Christmas miracle! Who wants to learn about how terrorists are going to hide bombs in coffee thermoses when the holidays are here? Clearly Santa Claus, himself, came down and broke the teleprompter. Call it “America’s War on Bad News!”

Sometimes, you think you’ve got a great live TV moment, and for whatever reason, it doesn’t materialize. Sadly for WGN 9 in Chicago, an attempt to get a live shot of a local bridge implosion turned in to such a moment – and they were none too happy.

“You can practically feel the excitement!” says the correspondent from Seattle’s King 5 News as she does her report on the crazy shopping spree at a local thrift store. A few seconds later, you can hear the excitement as well. When asked what he’s purchasing, a man carrying what looks like a very healthy amount of clothing can’t contain himself and blurts out the best response to a local news question since a dude realized he had no Quran.

At Mediaite we try to cover everything that has to do with the news media. So, when a television executive suddenly leaves his position, we’re there. When a guest brings up shocking allegations on air, we’re there. And when some poor girl gets caught picking her nose in the background of a live news broadcast, you know we’re there too. We’re just that thorough.

Apparently the Russians aren’t the only ones with itchy middle fingers. Yesterday morning on BBC News, anchor Simon McCoy made a joke at the expense of weatherman Tomasz Schafernaker who promptly gave him the middle finger. Unfortunately, that’s just around the point that the folks in the control booth decided to cut to Schafernaker for a reaction shot. And thus, a great YouTube classic is born.

He may not be a sexy spy, but we have found our new favorite Russian in an anchor for Russia 1 who decided to show his feelings for a correspondent by flipping her off. Presumably, the anchor thought he was safely off camera, having just cut away to his attractive, female flipped bird recipient. Unfortunately, his finger was just a second faster than the hands in the control booth and his wonderful anger was captured for all the world to see. Ah, the middle finger, a message that crosses all language lines.

Just like a two-word heckle from Joe Wilson can hijack a Presidential address to a joint session of Congress, so, too, can a momentary slip from an eager new SNL cast member distract from the 35th season premiere starring Megan Fox and U2 — especially when that slip is the F-word. Tonight new cast member Jenny Slate, in her SNL debut, played a biker chick who said “frickin’” a lot. Except at one point, she accidentally said that other thing.
