You know that whole 'world is going to end in 2012' thing? Well Fox News spent a segment discussing it this morning. The conclusion - this is probably not going to happen. But the chyron suggested the possibility was out there (via HuffPost, via Mike Madden).

You know that whole ‘world is going to end in 2012′ thing? Well Fox News spent a segment discussing it this morning. The conclusion – this is probably not going to happen. But the chyron suggested the possibility was out there (via HuffPost, via Mike Madden).

FNC interviewed Dr. Edwin Barnhart, whose job title is “Director of the Maya Exploration Center,” which makes for a fantastic business card. The chyron: “Will the world end in 2012? Many people believe so.”

Barnhart talked down the possibility about the world ending soon, and said it was a misinterpretation. But he did give us this great quote:

It’s not going to cook us, it’s about solar radiation, that yes, would really disturb our satellite communications. And this might be an apocalypse for teenage girls who can’t post to Facebook anymore, but it’s really not going to destroy humankind.

(Wait – Facebook posting is predicted in the Mayan calendar? Balloon Boy’s Dad is really onto something.)
