Rev. Franklin Graham On Obama’s Birth Certificate: ‘Why Can’t He Produce That?’

Video

Reverend Franklin Graham appeared on This Week and host Christiane Amanpour got him to share his feelings on many of today’s political personalities. In addition to speaking favorably of many potential Republican candidates for President, Graham revealed that he too is curious about why President Obama has yet to produce more records related to his birth.

Graham previously traveled with Sarah Palin to Haiti but declared that he doesn’t expect her to run for President. Graham said, “I don’t think she likes politics, I think she likes speaking on the issues, and I agree with many of the issues that she brings up.” Regarding other possible candidates, Graham admitted that Mitt Romney is “a very capable person,” however, Graham seemed more excited to talk about Donald Trump. Graham revealed about Trump:

“When I first saw that he was getting in, I thought ‘well this has got to be a joke,’ but the more you listen to him, the more you say to yourself, ‘you know maybe the guy’s right.’”

Not only is Graham open to supporting Trump for President, but Graham apparently has been listening to Trump long enough to also wonder about Obama’s birth certificate. Graham thinks Obama “can solve this whole birth certificate issue pretty quickly . . . I don’t know why he can’t produce that?” And despite considering Obama to be a “nice man,” Graham also suggests that even if Obama considers himself to be a Christian because he goes to Church, “a membership [alone] doesn’t make you a Christian.” Overall, it seems like the Reverend delivered to Obama a not so pleasant Easter Sunday message.

Imagine being close to making a car deal with a relatively affable salesman and the closer walks in. If it were Donald Trump, would you stay in the room? Would you grab your wallet? Would you believe a word he said? Now imagine this guy being the president.

    Sad.

  • notsofast

    LOL

As I was saying in the prior thread….

  • Liberal Tormentor

    Emma,
He’s still light years better than Obama. And about 50% of Dems think that it’s possible the Bush knew about and let 9/11 happened, so I wouldn’t talk. Hey, are you one of the 50%. Me thinks you probably are.

  • Resistance Is Futile

Rev. Franklin Graham, like is father Billy Graham is typical of many evangelicals, dishonest bigoted and largely racist. Graham is a hypocrite. He should act more Christ like than expressing support for the hate epitomized by Palin Trump an all. These evangelicals are the Pharisees of our time. They are despicable and should be opposed.

  • cjd ohio 1

notice in the story, who is the one that brought up the birther issue……………..amanpour

  • huntingtonboy

If Obama really is the worst President ever and not American as many of you claim, then it should be a walk in the park to beat him. So, where is your declared candidate for this easy task? Its just like the mid terms, isn’t it. Its a lot easier to sit around and just say NO than to actually govern. So, where is your declared candidate? You don’t have one. Who is it going to be? Trump? Bachman? Pathetic.

  • Greg

“But, on the off chance that a few cynics won’t take my word for it, I offer you data. Rasmussen Reports, the public opinion outfit, recently asked voters whether President Bush knew about the 9/11 attacks beforehand. The findings? Well, here’s how the research firm put it: “Democrats in America are evenly divided on the question of whether George W. Bush knew about the 9/11 terrorist attacks in advance. Thirty-five percent of Democrats believe he did know, 39% say he did not know and 26% are not sure.”

“So then there’s option B — the poll is just wrong. This is quite plausible. Indeed, the poll is surely partly wrong. Many Democrats are probably merely saying that Bush is incompetent or that he failed to connect the dots or that they’re just answering in a fit of pique. I’m game for option B.”

Spin it anyway you want Greg.

(Politico) — I’ve been looking for a good analogue to the willingness of Republicans to believe, or say they believe, that Obama was born abroad, and one relevant number is the share of Democrats willing to believe, as they say, that “Bush knew.”

There aren’t a lot of great public numbers on the partisan breakdown of adherents to that conspiracy theory, but the University of Ohio yesterday shared with us the crosstabs of a 2006 poll they did with Scripps Howard that’s useful in that regard.

“How likely is it that people in the federal government either assisted in the 9/11 attacks or took no action to stop the attacks because they wanted the United States to go to war in the Middle East?” the poll asked.

A full 22.6% of Democrats said it was “very likely.” Another 28.2% called it “somewhat likely.”

That is: More than half of Democrats, according to a neutral survey, said they believed Bush was complicit in the 9/11 terror attacks.

You want examples futile? Don’t have to go far? Your type of dishonesty when faced with facts – that are so readably available are just…. (sorry can’t even fathom such blatant lying).

Rev. Graham a racist, just like his Dad? a typical left wing “talking point” when all else fails you – and it seems to be failing you more and more often.

That which we call a birther, by any other name, would still be an irrational, TFH-wearing bigot living in a state of denial.

Every time a birther is shown a web link to, or hard copy of Obama’s official birth certificate (you know, the one that is recognized by the federal government when applying for a passport), they pull the equivalent of a 9-year old covering his ears and shouting “nyah, nyah, nyah, I can’t hear you!”

You can lead right wingers to the truth, but you cannot make them embrace it.
Each state has its own standard for an official record of birth.

You have to look at the motivations of the majority of the birthers to understand why they simply cannot “let go”. Fundamentally, it comes down to the following mindset: “I cannot accept THAT man in the White House because…. (fill in the blank).”

Just about ANY reason will do — any excuse that will legitimize their bigotry-based outrage. If it wasn’t about a birth certificate, it would be about his middle name. (He’s a closet Muslim, you know.)

In addition, there are a handful of unscrupulous politicians and pundits who, although not necessarily racists themselves, have no problem capitalizing on the bigotry of others by fueling their fear and hatred of Obama in order to score political points or further a personal agenda.

well greg, that would be just silly. it’s not like the war criminal (alleged(pre-war criminal at the time)) had any kind of warning that al queda was preparing to attack within the united states. i mean it would be stupid to do more intense screening in one of the most obvious places to either bomb or use passengers as hostages.

Proof of Graham’s outright lies concerning Obama’s religious faith on top of his lies about Obama’s birth certificate.

    President Obama published 1/23/2008

“I am a Christian, and I am a devout Christian. I believe in the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe that that faith gives me a path to be cleansed of sin and have eternal life. But most importantly, I believe in the example that Jesus set by feeding the hungry and healing the sick and always prioritizing the least of these over the powerful. I didn’t ‘fall out in church’ as they say, but there was a very strong awakening in me of the importance of these issues in my life. I didn’t want to walk alone on this journey. Accepting Jesus Christ in my life has been a powerful guide for my conduct and my values and my ideals.”
    http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2008/januaryweb-only/104-32.0.html?start=2

None of this discussion about birtherism or Obama’s religion have anything to do with his place of birth or his religion. It is all about his racist. Evangelical Christianity and anti-black racism have walked together from their beginnings. The largest evangelical denomination, the “Southern Baptists” were born out of their break with the northern Baptists who believed American slave system which treated humans as animals, not human beings was incompatible with Christianity.

Evangelicals were the last Christians to accept civil rights for African Americans. It took the Southern Baptists to 1998 to do this. The Mormons were even worse. Racism is embedded in the very core doctrines of their fait.

If people were truly inspired by God would they not have led the way towards justice as Jesus did? Some thoughts to ponder on the Easter Sunday.

And why is that?? Maybe because Christians get stomped on in every direction, made fun of, killed in Muslim countries and Muslims coming here to kill us, 9/11. People and the media can make fun of Christians all day long but Muslims, they get a pass. Try making fun of them and see what happens. Wow I expect more from Amanpour. She should not ask that question, it always makes the tightie-righties look like fools. It’s like making kittens chase laser pointer dots, they just can’t help it.

The liberal media has learned to dog whistle Republicans by simply asking them about the birther question. Obama continues to play his little joke on the birther crowd, stoking their idiocy by not releasing his 60 page long form birth certificate, complete with certificate of circumcision, and certificate of religious affiliation.

If it has been asked once, it has been asked a million times “Why doesn’t Obama release his birth certificate”, and every time its asked, the person asking looks less and less intelligent. But God bless them, they can’t help it.

Now Franklin Graham has fallen into the trap so artfully laid by Amanpour, and probably cost his church some liberal donations. When will the Republicans ever learn to avoid the “birther trap”? I suppose they will keep falling for it until 2017….

Franklin Graham is obviously not “made out of the same cloth” of his father. Praising a blowhard who regularly trumpets his own trumpet, loudly and often, and yet the man who attended one Christian church for more than 20 years and quietly lives his faith and only talks about it when he has to in response to claims by others doubting his faith. The Obamas have regularly volunteered in their community and raised their daughters to do the same and have given more and more to charity as their incomes have increased and yet Franklin would have a negative comment like that? The use any issue, denying the validity of his legally sufficient, court tested birth certificate as a way to discredit him because of his race. A birther by definition is a racist, plain and simple. Billy Graham has visited presidents from way back to the 50′s. and he wasn’t the only one who supported the Vietnam war and who knows maybe he tried to get Nixon to pull out. Was you there and heard what they were talking about?

The Grahams are both a bunch of crackers! The father did have a bit of gravitas, but I really never heard him take a principaled stand on any significant issue – the son seems like a total sleaze coasting along on his father’s reputation. I’ve had a thought as to why Trump is doing well amongst rightwing types. Donald Trump is the ultimate bully who will, if necessary, crack heads to get this country moving. I think that’s what a lot of rightwingers are longing for, a ‘strongman’ who will come along and make everything right, literally and figuratively. In our slow rightward drift, Trump is a little bit like the original fascist strongman, the one and only Benito Mussolini. Contrary to rightwing propaganda, fascism isn’t socialism writ large, but, rather, it’s what happens when capitalism goes out of control. Fascism, according to it’s originator, Benito Mussolini, is when corporations and the government merge, and the individual’s interests become secondary to the state. Mussolini was a reletively benovolent leader until the worldwide depression and Hitler’s rise to power swept him into Hitler’s demonic orbit. My feeling is the Trump blitz will last another few weeks until the rightwingers find out that Trump is not the real Benito Mussolini deal. Trump has much too much baggage and absolutely no principles, good or bad.

Wow, GARTH, did Fox News make this up about 0BAMA’S SAFE SCHOOL CZAR??

Barack Obama’s “safe school’s czar” Kevin Jennings hid pedophilia from authorities.

Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings was a huge Obama supporter.

Warren Throckmorton has this and more on the latest case of pedophilia that Obama’s Safe Schools Czar hid from officials.

In an op-ed dated today but available online over the weekend, the Washington Times assails Obama safe-schools appointee, Kevin Jennings for his handling of a 15-year old student’s sexual revelations when Jennings was a young teacher.

According to Mr. Jennings’ own description in a new audiotape discovered by Fox News, the 15-year-old boy met the “older man” in a “bus station bathroom” and was taken to the older man’s home that night.

FOX News has also reported on this and pointed to that recording. That audiotape was recorded by someone who attended a speech Jennings gave in Iowa in 2000 and then given to me. The relevant clip is here. You can read more about Brewster and the controversy in the article, Remembering Brewster and in this prior post on the topic.

No I wasn’t in church this morning but didn’t feel the need to go like you must have.
My opinion about power and money, it goes hand in hand.
Billy Graham has visited presidents from way back to the 50’s. and he wasn’t the only one who supported the Vietnam war and who knows maybe he tried to get Nixon to pull out. Was you there and heard what they were talking about?
Why not bring you Sharpton and Jackson? They can’t hold a candle to what Graham has done to help the African American’s and the African people. I see money and power for them, with these two so called preachers. They have taken from their own and used the blacks to better themselves. They have deceived their own.
You seem to say I cannot contain my obvious anti-black racism when I’m not a racist, I can’t help but feel you are anti-Christian and anti-Jewish even if you went to church ten times today. Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian.

Wrong if you could read you wold know Billy Graham actively organized in support of the Vietnam War. You must be crazy. Billy Graham practicing segregation at his church events helped African Americans. You are sounding dumber by the line. All of the other 5 run the same headlines, stories, and liberal opinions every single night and they “dominate” the american television audience and they are “pushing back” at ONE LITTLE CHANNEL?? 5 American news outlets against one…….If those 5 networks have the truth on their side, and the bulk of american viewers what could they possibly have to push back against?

Mediaite makes money by providing a forum for bigots. The sites that advertise on this blog need to be made aware of this activity as well as the general community. If more people were aware of what was going on they would begin to flee this blog like rats from a sinking ship. Glen Beck can tell you how that feels. Mediaite has a responsibility to handle the bigotry it gives a forum for but to this point it has failed miserably to deal with it. Maybe public and advertiser pressure will help. It’s worth a shot.

Why must we always call names? It is intellectually irresponsible to use a straw-man arguement every time we disagree with someone. If you can’t disagree with someone on the merits of their arguements, or points of view; then just shut up. If you do not agree with Mr. Graham’s point(s) of view then argue your points, do not stoop to calling people bigots and attempt to change the arguement to something that cannot be prooved outside of pure conjecture.

Actually no one is reported as seeing him “rise”.
When the women went to the tomb, they were told, “He is Arisen”.
No contemporary, disinterested accounts of his apparition post-crucifixion are extant.

Actually you are totally wrong. Have you ever bothered to read the Bible. If you had you would have know that there are absolutely no witness accounts of Jesus arising from the dead. Three of the accounts discuss Mary Madeline coming to the tomb, seeing it opened and finding it empty. The accounts differ in that one has her alone, one with one other women and one with three women.

They have no problem telling other people what those people think, which is a miraculous power if you think about it.

Above all, it escapes them that there would be no problem if Obama WERE a Muslim. Article VI forbids any religious test for office.

    This is a test:

I think puppies are a joy to behold. On Easter, it’s probably OK if the kids eat a little too much chocolate. One of my favorite memories of childhood is walking to the country store with my grandfather. Being there when your friends need you is important. Courtesy in a marriage may be more important than attraction.

    This concludes our test.

What you don’t get is that joke was not that she could see Russia from her house it’s that she cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as her foreign policy experience. The joke was/is shorthand for how dumb can you be.

COURIC: You’ve cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land– boundary that we have with– Canada. It– it’s funny that a comment like that was– kind of made to– cari– I don’t know, you know? Reporters–
    COURIC: Mock?
PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that’s the word, yeah.
COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.
PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our– our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They’re in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia–
COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?
PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We– we do– it’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is– from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. I would not call the Brandenburg Concertos being the most beautiful music at night, a little busy for nighttime. It’s not that he can’t Reverend; he won’t.

His whole political career, and the margin of victory in 2008, was based on his being the son of a black Luo tribesman. This was a total prevarication; his official biography is a colossal hoax. He has pretended that his adoptive parents were his birth parents. He lied, Reverend.

Mr. Obama’s DNA and his original birth certificate will prove that he does not have a Negro parent.

The original birth certificate would likely show Stanley Armour Dunham as the birth father and a native Hawai’ian wahine as the birth mother. Obama’s warm mahogany complexion was bestowed by his mother, whom he has not acknowledged. She might still be alive. If not, I would be most interested in the precise time and circumstances of her demise, and whether her remains were hastily cremated and cast into the sea, as in the cases of Stanley Ann Dunham and her mother Madelyn Lee Payne Dunham.

Recently it was suggested that Obama’s records were inconsistent with his official biography. See http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=283865 and http://www.westernjournalism.com/hawaii-elections-clerk-obama-caught-fibbing/. This supports the thesis that the names of parents on the certification of live birth were taken from the amended birth certificate reflecting an adoption, not from the original birth certificate, a contemporaneous record of birth showing birth parents, which “absolutely exists, located in a bound volume in a file cabinet on the first floor of the state Department of Health.” See the redoubtable Michael Isikoff, “investigative correspondent” for the eminent NBC News, who apparently forgot to ask Dr. Fukino whether the names on the long form birth certificate, which Dr. Fukino has viewed twice, matched those on the certification of live birth, at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42519951/ns/politics-more_politics/.

Others might have seen the vital records and perhaps even photographed them. Maybe that’s why Governor Abercrombie asked Dr. Neal Palafox to resign as Health Director, a very short time after appointing him, http://www.wisepolitics.com/neal-palafox-hawaii-gov-abercrombie-health-director-resigns-3252.html/comment-page-1#comment-23454

Obama’s original birth certificate should be subpoenaed by Congress and any other competent authority to prove Obama’s natural born status at birth, and to prove election fraud by the theft of personal and racial identity.

If Mr. Obama wants to foist the certification of live birth on us as his “birth certificate”, he should be prepared to furnish a DNA sample. Analysis of his DNA will show it’s biologically impossible for him to be the son of a Luo tribesman and a Caucasian girl.

I would not call the Brandenburg Concertos being the most beautiful music at night, a little busy for nighttime. I prefer the Chopin Nocturnes at night performed by Arthur Rubinstein or the Gentle Side of John Coltrane. Both are great night music pieces. In addition Keith Jarrett The Melody At Night, With You.

Wow I guess I have to dial way back. I was making less a reference to a particular Bach piece but rather JS Bach’s Christian faith and reason behind composing contrasted to the Muslim’s call to prayer (Which Obama said was among the most beautiful sounds he had heard at night. Or maybe Bill Ayers said that-its confusing), Plus Eine Kline Nachtmusik would have been way too obvious and Mozart’s faith in God was a little more unclear to say the least. Moonlight Sonata ditto.

The lone Republican in the Hawaii State Senate told a radio interviewer today he believes “the real issue” stopping Barack Obama from releasing his long-form birth certificate is something the president has to hide, perhaps even the name of his actual birth father.

Hawaii State Sen. Sam Slom further told the host of “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio” on WABC 770 AM in New York City that so long as Obama refuses to be transparent about his past, questions about the president’s birth remain “a legitimate issue.”

“My particular point of view – and why I haven’t identified myself as a ‘birther,’ per se – is that [Obama] probably was born [in Hawaii] and that the real issue is not the birth certificate, but what’s on the birth certificate,” Slom told Klein.

Asked what that could be, Slom said, “It could have to do with what his name is on the birth certificate, who is actually listed as his father, the citizenship of the father.”

He continued, “My belief is that there is a birth certificate, he was born here, but that there is information that for reasons known only to him he doesn’t want released. If it were just the birth certificate, that would be one thing, but it’s his school records, it’s employment records. … Why would anybody, let alone the president of the United States, spend millions of dollars in legal fees to keep that hidden?”

“As long as that goes on,” he concluded, “I think it’s a legitimate issue.”

Rev. Graham was asked a question form Amanpour about the birth certificate- he answered thoughtfully not outrightly dismissing it. What’s the problem?
The form that we have seen is indeed the very short form. This was the form rejected by the State Department when we had to renew my daughters passport. Notice, I said renew- meaning they should have had a copy of her original birth certificate in order to approve the first passport. So if it isn’t good enough for her, then why should the President of the United States get a pass, when it comes to an acceptable form of identification. Who does he think he is to deny Americans acceptable proof, it sort of comes with the job?
Regardless of the birth certificate – I would just like to see anything that backs up what the president and his inner circle have claimed about him. This very public man doesn’t leave a paper trail and that naturally makes people suspicious. Writing a biography doesn’t count.

Wow, Franklin Graham said something the left finds “offensive” so the smears start!

I guess you missed the programs Greta did on what Franklin Graham does, and the truth about the man. Nah, it’s much easier to make up garbage that is completely off the wall, and put your hate hat on for Franklin now. After all he dared to make a comment you found “offensive”

BTW anyone know what the truth is? Oh, sorry you guys don’t trade in truth – just absolute nonsense and you have no trouble passing it on.

Since you seem so interested in the workings of a charity, how do you feel about Jesse Jackson’s net worth estimated at 100 million? How do you feel about the fact that the wonderful Mr. Jackson (sorry can’t call someone a Reverend who buys their degrees without attending any divinity college). Ten years ago the fool was “charging” expenses of $3,000. Living large seems to suit him. Yes, his “charity” has done wonderful things for who – oh yes Jesse himself.
BTW – what exactly was Jackson overhead saying about Obama? Anyone remember? lol

Franklin, no one knows why he cannot produce it. But rest assured, the Free World should take comfort that a minor functionary in Hawaii has seen the nebulous birth documents and can attest to their authenticity.

The president has shown a legitimate birth certificate that is a legal document that proves he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and is a citizen of these United States. I really think it is a shame that Billy Graham, an honorable man, should have a son has slimy as Franklin. Probably just as well his mother didn’t live to see this.

I don’t know if you remember this, but thought perhaps it might clear up your issue.

Over at The Atlantic’s website, writer Andrew Sullivan, a passionate defender of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), posted a series of breathless blog items laying out the case (if it can be called that) against the perfidious Palin. There was no compelling evidence—circumstantial or otherwise—to support such a claim, but as Sullivan argued, it was the media’s job to ask the uncomfortable questions.

So based on a hunch, he requested that the campaign “release Palin’s medical records for the past year to rebut for good and all the rumors on the Internets and the very, very strange chronology surrounding the pregnancy and birth of Trig Palin.” The onus was on the campaign to address every wild conspiracy theory floated online, he argued: “Why not kill this rumor with Palin’s medical records?…Just release them, ok?…And we can all breathe a sigh of relief and move on.

    - Michael Moynihan – 2008

Hmm, people wanted Palin to “prove” she gave birth – but you’re o.k. with Obama proving nothing, because he doesn’t have to.

Like I’ve stated, I’m not a ‘birther” – I just don’t appreciate the ridicule the left is heaping on people suddenly. I think Obama has proven he is not good at being President. That is the only thing he has managed to prove.

If we follow the logic – It makes no earthly difference where he was born, what his religion is,
or any other superficial “fact”. His actions since he arrived at the White House are the “proof” I’m going by.

You also notice that the left keeps asking this stupid question from the right. Why? Why don’t they ask the important questions? Because, they know the answers already and don’t like them – doesn’t reflect well on Obama and the Democrats.
