Could Nancy Kerrigan’s Brother Be Acquitted Of Manslaughter Because Of Family Support?
Mediaite founder and ABC legal analyst Dan Abrams spoke with Good Morning America‘s George Stephanopoulos about recent testimony given by the family of Nancy Kerrigan, the figure skater whose rivalry with fellow athlete Tonya Harding culiminated in an attack on Kerrigan. Kerrigan’s brother, Mark Kerrigan, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of his elderly father, who allegedly passed following a struggle between the two. Kerrigan’s mother, Brenda Kerrigan, recently gave a tearful testimony on behalf of her son.
Abrams and Stephanopolous discussed whether Mrs. Kerrigan’s blindness may be a factor coloring her testimony as a witness to the altercation. Abrams noted that the prosecution must tread carefully where her blindness is concerned and cannot risk outright accusing her of being wrong but, rather, of perhaps having a skewed or faulty impression of what went on.
