Former Bush Official: Rick Perry Is The ‘Ice Cold Glass Of Water’ The GOP Needed

video

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, former Bush communications director Nicole Wallace described the arrival of Gov. Rick Perry in the Republican presidential field as “that tall, ice cold glass of water” that Republicans were “crawling through the sand ready to reach for.” Wallace says for Republicans, it’s been refreshing to see Perry out at campaign events “answering all the questions,” comparing his performance to that of Tim Pawlenty, who Wallace said drove some in the GOP to frustration. “You just wanted to shake him and say, ‘you’re in third place, just answer the questions.’”

Robert Gibbs was on there with Wallace today . He would be a better choice for DNC chair  than Little Debbie . Oh, he’s a hack , too . But , he can recite more than two different talking points at a time . Debbie brings two that she repeats for any question .

Hilarious watching Nicole stammer out excuses for Perry’s incendiary language yesterday.

Most of it boiled down to “It was his first day, let’s cut him some slack!”

    Great start! lol

Why did you label her “former Bush official”? Oh yes, to go along with the Democrat party narrative that he’s “just like Bush”?

I just don’t ever see you specify ”former Clinton official” when you’ve done stories involving them. Such as anytime you do a story involving something George Stephanopoulos said. Hes a former Clinton official after all.

  • Johnjguy

I’ve no doubt Perry will be great on the stump, being Governor of Texas has been a great warm up for him. He knows very well how to handle crowds and how to speak off the cuff.

He doesn’t scare easily or make unnecessary gaffes as Bachmann keeps doing. People will want to hear what he has to say. The cowboy stuff? …Well, its cheesy, so take it or leave it.

  • Anonymous

Incendiary? It sounded factual to me. And it certainly didn’t surpass the nasty tone coming out of Democrats with all their talk of terrorists and hostages.

  • Anonymous

It sounds factual when Perry says  he will “restore military ‘respect’ for presidency”?

That is an insult to our soldiers who take a vow to respect the Constitution and the Commander in Chief and outrageous of him to suggest otherwise.
Even Pat Buchannan wouldn’t let that generalization slide.

Sorry, just because you teabaggers lap it up doesn’t make it right.

My prediction is it will all get old quicker than you might expect. We Texans have evolved. We have very sensitive BS filters. Tollbooth seems to have over-loaded them, however. I don’t think he can draw much of a crowd here even with a swimming pool of salsa, a dump truck of tortilla chips and a tanker of Margaritas.

  • ROTFLMAO

    You are a F*ing idiot!

That is an insult to our soldiers who take a vow to respect the
Constitution and the Commander in Chief and outrageous of him to suggest
    otherwise.

It’s an oath, not a vow, and there’s nothing in it about respect, nitwit.

“I, XXXXXXXXXX, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

You don’t know anyone in the military, do you?

You do like pure, high-grade BS, don’t you, Kook?

Dudes held public office for 21 years in Texas . May want to call him  “Tollbooth” louder . Your voice doesn’t seem to carry like you think it does .

  • Anonymous

I highly doubt that.  We’ve all seen that Perry can’t bring water.  Even through prayer.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, I’m gonna have to agree with Wallace and Buchanan on this, who both suggested Perry should walk back that unfortunate statement, but I’m not at all surprised you would stand by it.

  • GoNavy

Spot on! Mostly This really shows the ignorance.  You respect the office, you don’t have to respect the man.  Something the lemmings espoused for 8 years.

  • Anonymous

Please show proof of Perry’s generalization that the military doesn’t have respect for Obama the man.

Was there a poll I missed?

That’s nice. But you’re still a knucklehead with no idea what you’re talking about.

I love it when you teabaggers are too extreme for even the far Right.
It makes my job easier when I have Nicole Wallace and Pat Buchanan running cover for me.
It would be even funnier if Perry did a little two-step shuffle back today.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MZWU6P2NDCBV6JYIEJUZVFF744 OKBUT

Yeah, Perry only won the recent Governor’s race in Texas by a landslide – Texans don’t care for him much, OK. Of course they care for you Liberals a whole lot less – you haven’t won statewide office in Texas in decades. lol.
Perry isn’t perfect – no candidate is. But this next election is about basic principles. We know we can depend on Perry to uphold our values. We also know the alternative, all too well. No contest for us.

  • Texan

It’s gonna be sweet throwing your idiocy back in your fat face when Obama gets kicked to the curb. ;)

I really want to thank you for last night’s work on what became the Paul thread. I didn’t get a chance to read it until early this morning, but I was in stitches. Belly laughs. My stomach hurts from the laughter. Those Paulines had you running from one ridiculous grunt to the next faster than they had O’Hannity running down that street in New Hampshire in 2008. And, they couldn’t have done it without you serving as goat. Well done, I say: “Well done!”

First and foremost, our military defends the constitution. If “whoever’s” in the office as president doesn’t, his vow to ALL of us is broken. I trust the military to have an inside scoop on the actualities involved with these illegal occupations of foreign countries and endless wars against the myriad of “Boogeymen” the MSM hyperventilates over while attempting to justify the accelerating loss of our liberties. This data is indicative of our military’s opinion, assuming you trust in the idea that they have put their money where their mouths are and are revealing true levels of respect for their individual choices for whom they’d like to represent US and lead them as Commander in Chief, 2012. http://www.ronpaul2012.com/2011/07/20/ron-paul-campaign-raises-most-donations-from-military/ Support our vanguard!!! My response was mild humor in retort to Funk, but since you just can’t help youself.  I here is a report on the rain over the weekend

“The recent rain was a nice respite from months of total dryness and while it did boost one of our reservoirs, city officials are urging residents to stick to the restrictions. The recent downpours are providing some much needed relief to west Texas, adding moisture to the soil and helping to replenish local ponds. The greatest impact is at the Ivie Reservoir, where rain and runoff added 2500 acre-feet of water, enough to supply about three weeks worth of water to CRMWD customers.”

Wallace is and always has been clueless when it comes to politics. Just look at her failure in the last Presidential election. She’s like Dick Morris – whistling past their political graveyards.

  • Anonymous

It’s much easier to go after Debbie though, so let’s keep her. :)

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Dear, Texas is a very big state. We did get our first rain since last winter on Sunday. A bucket splitting 2/10 of 1″. And, we were considered lucky. Most of Austin received nothing.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Let’s get real. She was assigned to the Half-Baked Alaskan. The Blessed Virgin Mary could not have made that work.

  • Anonymous

This is not correct at all.  The military acts on the orders of the nation’s civilian leadership, so they are not in fact “first and foremost”.  The oath to defend the constitution taken by the civilian leadership precedes action by the military – IMHO of course.

  • Anonymous

McCain/Palin would have won in a landslide except for Wallace. Every vote for Obama was a vote against Wallace.

Once again, heed our agreement to NOT TALK to one another. This site works out better that way.

Don’t talk to me. Simple as that. You add nothing to debate and you have done nothing but disgrace this site.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

I never agreed to that, but you may certainly refrain from talking to me unilaterally, Dear.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

What a refreshing perspective you have.

There is no denying that his entry into the field has stirred things up.

I realized that I’ve been too caught up in speeches. I was reminded that the most important thing to remember in choosing a candidate is that they will continue to be who they were before the speeches about who the intend to be once they’ve won the office. For the most part, that’s what saved me from voting for Obama.

I will ultimately be in the ABO camp, however if I ultimately have to decided between Romney and Perry, it’ll be Romney. Fo sho.

I think Perry is the flavor of the month when everything else is vanilla.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

I actually agree with you on the Perry as flavor of the month. That has been the pattern in the Republican race so far. Announce. High trajectory. Fall to the ground. Trumpesque I guess you might call it.

When I picked up my shoes at the Birkenstock store, the clerk, a couple of customers and I were talking about voting in the Republican primary for Dr. Ron Paul just to make Tollbooth look pathetic.

  • The Dweller Ysul

Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice reads, as follows:

ARTICLE 88 – CONTEMPT TOWARD OFFICIALS
Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.

You were regarded as a sad-sack in the military, weren’t you, Pablo?

And, yes, I do have family members who’ve served: a sister and two brothers-in-law. One of my bros, a lieutenant colonel, just returned here to Bragg from Sam Houston. He’s met Perry & says he’s a fag. So I guess what Ferry probably meant to say was that he’d be a president who’d look up to the troops…from his knees.

  • Anonymous

Yeah that is JUST what we needed.  An underachieving, egotistical, swaggering evangelical Texas governor.  Can’t get enough of those, can we?

  • Anonymous

Ron Paul is a nut. I would never vote for him. If it were up to a shoe vs. Ron Paul, the shoe would get my vote.

The only solace I would have in a Ron Paul administration is that there would be a Congress and Senate to halt his moves.

His supporters are some of the worst. The fact that the Left loves him speaks no bounds as to why I dislike the guy. Palin is my kind of Libertarianism.

  • Redleaf

The most important thing is that he hates gays.

Nicole Wallace was busy this morning doing a find job cherry the Gov. Perry’s campaign, but the segment that I found most interesting on Morning Joe was the conservation between Nicole Wallace and John Cassidy.    Wallace was spouting the mythical narrative about whether the stimulus worked or not; then Cassidy chimed in to remind Wallace that stimulus measures began under Bush in 2008.  Wallace was not aware of this fact.  She thought that Cassidy was speaking about TARP, and as she continued to give her political spin; but he waited and corrected her.  In a demur manner, he weighed in to explain what the stimulus did and didn’t do.  He said that there was not actually any enormous
stimulus.  He explained that the stimulus really spent in government.  It kept local governments from collapsing.   The overall spending went to state, local and federal together, there hasn’t been any bigstimulus program.   It was pretty much a flat line. All Washington did was stepped in and offset a collapse at the local level.  If Pres. Obama hadn’t done that, unemployment might be 15%. Cassidy did not blame Obama for the seize and net effect of January 2009 stimulus, but he did blame him for not using the bully pulpit to make his argument. Cassidy also made other insightful arguments about the debt vs. jobs, and what the administration is and isn’t doing.  His comment was not sugar coated.   But once again, what was most striking was that Nicole Wallace knew absolutely nothing about Bush’s stimulus spending.  She looked dumbfounded as Cassidy share this information with her.  This begs the question of just how pervasive is this lack understanding of stimulus policy?

I heard he was having a gay relationship with the chef.  Are you saying that isn’t true?

  • Gorgegirl

Tom Delay and Jack Abramoff were good friends of Rick Perry’s.  In fact, the texas republican leglislature has been trying to figure out how they can give the power to Rick Perry to pardon Tom Delay.  It turns out that he can’t give a pardon to his good friend until 2015.

And of course, his friend Jack is serving his sentence in Maryland, gets out in 2012 and then needs to repay $23 million in restitution.

  • Gorgegirl

Perry wasn’t a farmer, or at least not a very profitable one. Tax records show he made $802 in net farm profit.”I never saw him on a tractor in his life,” said one of Perry’s old neighbors, who requested anonymity. “And I never did see him on a horse.”

Perry’s small town neighbors say they have never seen the “cowboy” on a horse.

The “Texas Miracle” Perry touts is false bravado and grandiose Texas tongue trash talking. He has a record of murdering an innocent man, who was convicted on flimsy evidence, but he talks to GOD! GOD HIMSELF told Perry to run for the presidency, they’re just really good friends!(Like Forrest Gump) Perry’s “Texas Miracle” is attributable to federal government hiring. There’s nothing wrong with Texas or any state getting its share of funding from Washington, but the problem for Perry is that the facts don’t support the small-government credentials he’s now trying to establish.  Perry sounds arrogantly clueless about monetary policy! What is most treasonous is the blatant lying the TEA party-ers are in this confrontational election cycle! It matters little if one person believe Biden is right or wrong, the issue is two TEA party Yahoos confronting the President of the United States in such a manner. Here’s yet another example of the bigoted and confrontational maneuvering the TEA party is espousing for maximum exposure. This video and words will find their way to the internet and presented to provide the president as wrong or the TEA party as GOD sanctioned! TEA members are terrorist when it comes to holding the credit worthiness of the USA hostage while they ramp up distrust world-wide! The TEA party have employed the “Scorched earth” tactic to try to make president Obama a one-term president. They are willing to take the USA down even at their own expense! Their tactics have garnered world-wide exposure and the gullible have swallowed it hook-line-and-sinker! The prejudiced and bigoted Sen. Mitch McConnell, the bigoted Republican from Kentucky, the minority leader with the greatest cunning and sharpest knife, signaled his party’s true purpose last year when he proclaimed: “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” Every candidate is a clone of the others save one who celebrated Elvis’ birthday! The sad result is the defunct GOP as the TEA party has subverted any sanity and taken the once proud GOP to the fringe of lunacy! The GOP is not relevant anymore! Vote – use it or lose it!

Maybe Rick Perry has some forceful agenda like Bush that Americans want. There were not much aggressive reforms made during the Obama administration; hence, these people want change.
