Yeah, as a Congressman, I’m pretty sure Tancredo has “dealt with it” too. Of course, being that Markos was never in combat, and was never injured… is he really the best voice for veteran’s healthcare? Isn’t that HIS argument?

And you never responded to the story for Walter Reed. Do you really think being a veteran makes them more qualified to see there’s a problem? Oh, that’s right… everyone was able to see there was a problem when they needed to blame Bush for it… but now, they need it as evidence, so all is forgotten.

Now, not to call you names… but you are a hack. Why a hack… well, you “don’t remember” things that happened a few years ago, in an effort to support your own ideology. The fact that you can deny reality and pretend “not to remember” things for your own political goals, means that you are unethical, a liar, and a hack. Not name calling, just stating a fact.

Actually, I do not have any relatives who received a 1-Y deferment to avoid the military. I have two brothers and a brother-in-law who proudly served in Vietnam and one in the Gulf War. I have several nephews and one niece who have served in Iraq. My sister and several nieces were also in the military. I’ve worked all of my life and am a grandmother, mother and wife. I am very proud of my family and all they have accomplished.

I do have one brother who was a veteran who is disabled. The VA has provided him significant help and support throughout his disability. He has ALS. His condition continues to worsen, however he and we are all greatful for the services he has received. They provided him and his family counseling and helped them obtain a proper wheelchair, breathing/feeding tubes, and instructions for home care when he is home or when he is in the hospital. It is very difficult and very sad, but the services are vital for him now. I cannot imagine how much more difficult it would be for him if he did not have the VA services.

You can not compare what the Rethugs are doing today vs what a few (and some on your side) said about GW.

I think the Republicans are doing this out of desperation. They do not have an agenda or a leader they all support so instead, they do all of this name calling.

And again, Markos only told the truth. He didn’t call Tancredo a Muslim or a Kenyan or a Nazi. He said Tancredo got a deferment for his depression. It’s the truth.

You mean like “Bushitler, Bush is a Nazi, Bush is a terrorist, Bush is the worst terrorist in the world, etc etc etc..

So you think people can’t or don’t recover from a mental illness or clinical depression? Have you ever had a relative or a friend that suffered from a mental illness????? Did they recover or did you just lock them in a closet?

These are out and out lies. And yet you say you are appalled when Markos merely states the record which Tancredo admits himself? And is easily verified?

You notice Tancredo named no names of the veterans he supposedly talked to that would prefer to receive a voucher so they could pay for their own health insurance. I have never heard of one veteran who said that. Nor have I ever heard of anyone on Medicare that wants to give it up either. I think Tancredo is talking out of his hat.

With that deferment, Tancredo told the world he is mentally ill with clinical depression and therefore legally could be deferred from the military.

We all know he ran for President in 2008. How did he think, with his mental illness, that he could be deferred from being a private, yet he could serve as Commander in Chief?

If you are so against name calling why didn’t you call out Sunnyr?

His own personal record of military service is of no consequence at all, it’s like saying anyone who has not served doesn’t have the ability (or right I guess) to advocate for or against military issues and policies.

Since the vast majority of military polling shows overwhelming support for the military health care system, even with the scandalous attempts to privatize much of it that resulted in the Walter Reed fiasco, then it is quite enough to state Tancredo is dead wrong and leave his motivations to the voters.

So you believe that only people who have served in the military should be able to talk about the military? Does that go for the President too? What do you think about him not listening to McCrystal… and “making up his mind”? Shouldn’t he just follow the recommendations? Who is he to “wrap himself in the American flag” and not listen to the Generals?

Yeah… funny how the rules change, huh? And anyone who doubts that the Veterans healthcare system is flawed, remember back to the whole Walter Reed debacle from a few years back. Clearly, things aren’t so great… and you don’t need a military history to figure that out.

Harvey (reportedly at the request of Secretary of Defense Robert Gates [3]), the forced resignation of Lt. Gen. Kevin C. Kiley, commander from 2002 to 2004[4], congressional committee hearings, and commentary from numerous politicians including President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney. Several independent governmental investigations are ongoing and the controversy has spread to other military health facilities and the Department of Veterans Affairs health care system.

(PS- Let’s also remember that the show was hosted by DAVID SCHUSTER… you know, that guy who MSNBC claims is one of their unbiased anchors. How does someone “unbiased” host a show like the Ed Show… or Olbermann’s… and still get called “unbiased.” The only difference between Schuster and the other guys is that Schuster is even less connected to reality… if that’s possible.)
