Former Sen. Bob Kerrey: Arizona Shooter Was Angry About Health Care Reform

Video

Former Senator Bob Kerrey called into Imus in the Morning and said although Congress should postpone business temporarily as a result of the Arizona shooting, to do so for much longer would not be a good idea. Also despite the investigation not yet revealing the killer’s true motives, Kerrey did not hesitate to offer up some speculation.

Kerrey suggested:

“Tomorrow they were going to vote to repeal this health care bill, and well it’s not going to go anywhere in the Senate, it’s one of the reasons that this guy was angry and pretty obvious that he http://twitter.com/andylevy/status/24589778448023552is, at least from me, from where I sit that he’s mentally ill and deeply troubled. I wouldn’t make too much of whatever his political views are.”

It seems like Kerrey thinks the shooter was partially angry because the Senate was not going to allow repeal of the health care bill. Or maybe Kerrey was saying he’s angry that health care is being repealed since the shooter is mentally ill and would have wanted to benefit from it? Either way, Kerrey can’t possibly know what made the shooter angry enough to go on a rampage because right now no one knows. Therefore, if Kerrey has no clue why the shooter was angry, why assume anything about health care was “one of the reasons?”

King here . Congratulations to Mr. Kerrey . You are a bigger blowhard than I , sir ! We both can postulate on anything at all with not a fact or clue in our craniums. I salute you .

  • Alz

Talk about rising to one’s level of incompetence.

  • Harry Flashman

    How does he know that?

The answer is, of course, he doesn’t. He just pulled a lamenbrain comment out of his ass like so many others on the left have been doing and thinks it makes him look, um, smart or somehting.

Do these people have any idea how stupid they are?

    idiot.

  • notsofast

What an idiot statement form a usually stable ex-Senator.

So this guy was so upset that Obmacare might get repealed , he went out intending to kill a Congresswoman who was in FAVOR of and had voted for Obamacare?

Yes Bob, I so hate football that I’m going to the Superbowl this year.

Wow- Kerry needs mental health counseling. NOW!

And the exploitation express moves on…

Everyone that can use this incident for self promotion or to attack something or someone they oppose or opposes them is coming out of the woodwork to use this tragedy, which has absolutely no connection whatsoever to any political party, movement, ideology or action,to whatever advantage they can get.

It’s shameful, ghoulish, morbid and casts an incredibly dark shadow on our political process and it’s participants as well as the media which is now milking it for all it’s worth.

The real loser in this debate is, as always, logic and reason.

As opposed to analyzing the broader picture, it instead becomes “find the out of context reference to violence”, be it Sarah Palin’s crosshairs map, any major political event being a “bombshell”, and so on. The reality isn’t about the specific words we use which may have a dual context in both war and politics/sports/whatever else, but instead about how those who disagree with us politically are portrayed.

In my estimation, not applicable in this case, but the “right” is more guilty than the “left” of characterizing differing points of view as traitorous/treasonous/dangerous to America. And it is within this context that the crazies can justify violent actions. I mean, if these things were actually true, if Obama really were trying to destroy America from the inside and so on, those actions WOULD be justified. Nobody calls the guys who tried to take Hitler out lunatics.

But that’s the thing. Our political dissent has become, for the most part, detached from reality. Political positons are mischaracterized, motives are questioned, even the loosest of associations are examined and turned into political fodder. This is the real problem, not Sarah Palin referring to “targets”.

Disagree without being disagreeable, as they say. Principle vs. ideology, as I say. Politicians should be principled, but not ideologues, because ideology leaves no room for compromise, and doesn’t allow change even in light of new information (see the autism/vaccine people still defending it. Ideologues).

Doesn’t matter what party affiliation you “try” and assign this nut job, he’s reacting to the rhetoric of hate and fear mongering prevalent in the Teabag Party and Republican Party. From the Man stepping on the girl in Kentucky at the Rand Paul Rally, to Joe Miller “arresting” a journalist in Alaska, to O’Reilly’s attacks to take out Dr. Tiller and Beck’s attacks on the Tides Foundation leading to a nut job armed to the teeth to take out that office in SF, these nuts follow the hate and fear rhetoric that the GOP has been blasting at Americans 24/7 on Fox and Hate AM Radio. We witnessed it all summer and the cult of unbalanced and uneducated have found home in the brainwashed and religulously indoctrinated Republican Party.

Reminds me of Bloomberg speculating that the Times Square Bomber might be upset about Obamacare passing or as some journalist, I don’t remember which one, thought it might have been the pressure b/c his house was in foreclosure. Of course, his house was in foreclosure b/c he had been in Pakistan for months and knew he wasn’t going to be able to use it one way or the other.

It is kind of fun to sit back and watch the self-implosion of those out only for political gain. It backed fired in Nov and if Dem’s are not careful it will be catostrophic again in ’12. Seems to me the left needs to get there nut-jobs on a shorter leash before they hang everyone. Funny to see a lot of folks holding on for dear life though to their claims even as mountain collapses underneath of them.

    Hey James,
What about the Kenneth Gladney beatdown and the Obamacare opponent that got his finger bit off? Give it up, you libs are looking foolish now.

I would agree that the “right” is more apt to characterize the “left” point of view as dangerous to America, for the simple reason that the “left” agenda — as characterized by Obama — is to radically transform America. But I think you’re off base in your assertion that that justifies violence. The only thing it justifies is becoming involved in the political process.

One read of the US Constitution reveals that America was founded as a right wing conspiracy against what we now call “modern Liberalism.” Big government was the fear of our founders who framed our system around individual liberty, not government intervention. In contrast, Liberals, Communists, Progressives, Socialists, (or whatever name might be currently in vogue) promote forfeiture of individual rights in favor of big government, by definition are anti-American, and therefore “traitorous/treasonous/dangerous to America.”

I love this quote from Imus, ” This volatile aggresive rhetoric, of course, is woven into the fabric of not only politics but sports & other aspects of our lives. I don’t know how we change that, but i hope we do “.

I have a suggestion. Maybe we could stop calling black females, “Nappy headed ho’s”…. LMAO, I’m sorry. I just couldn’t pass that one up.

Great post but you still got some thumbs down from the resident haters. I wish we had more intelligence discussions and debate on this forum.

Oh yeah, and this Senator (former) is a dumbass for making speculative statements. We simply do not know.

Wow…another sophist, devoid of knowledge, ignorant of history and dangerous from the combination of both. I suggest you read The Declaration Of Independence. It’s not very long.

The country is/was Conservative – aka, the Right Wing. Our modern problems can be traced back to the 1900′s, 20′s, and 30′s as the Progressives grew. They first did their damage in the Depression – extending it for 7 or so years – and then they just became Communists in the 50′s.

People caught on and the these liberals figured out they could take control of the Democratic Party – so they started working on it. They got rid of the conservatives in the party over time and they started their programs that worked to force everything to be “equal” while working to tear down many of the things that made America great.

These Leftists had a Eugenics bent in the 1930′s (read up on teh nasty Margaret Sanger of Planned Parenthood), but Hitler’s application of it was too much. (this is when the Left pawned the “Fascist” moniker on the Right.)

In the later part of the 50′s some Leftists figured that they could gain power at the voting booth by controlling the people (mostly Blacks) in the northern inner cities. This is when the Modern Liberals (the name I use for these people starting around the 1960′s) started their policies and programs to gain control. Even to this day, the Left has utter control over the inner cities.

As the media is infested with these Leftists, they don’t notice that pain that their ideas have caused either. The leftists circle the wagons and make sure no one says anything lest they be called racists. But the fact remains that about all we can say about the results of liberalism in the inner cities is there is a lot of hopelessness, despair and death. Think about it: 50 years of hopelessness, despair and death.

Much damage has been done as these Modern Liberals/Progressives (the full name I use) have infiltrated our education system, popular culture, government, etc.

It has taken many decades for the Right to wake up, but it IS happening. Talk radio accelerated the trend and the internet has been a boon.

The left is responding like they always do: silence speech. They invented Political Correctness to impose control and now they are working on Net Neutrality and the new Internet National ID that we will all have to use.

In all cases, like the Soviets, Nazi’s, etc, the Left must control everything and everyone.

We just need more people to wake up and oppose liberalism in all forms – no Modern Liberalism, no Progressivism, no Socialism, etc.
