Fox’s Shep Smith Is Not Happy With This Libya ‘Not-War’

Video

Shepard Smith is eager to learn more details about the American strategy and objective in Libya and asked reporters Jennifer Griffin and Jonathan Hunt to help clue him in regarding the administration’s perspective. When both Griffin and Hunt told Shep that more information was still being learned to fill “knowledge gaps,” Shep began to get frustrated.

Given the speculation that there may be “flickers of Al-Qaeda” amongst the Libyan rebels against Gaddafi and given that just this morning Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice said they “have not ruled out” arming the same rebels, Shep was understandably confused. Shep wondered “why don’t any of these leaders just stand up and tell the truth: that we don’t have any idea who these opposition people are because we don’t.”

Throughout the rest of the segment, Shep sarcastically refers to the Libyan conflict as a “not-war” to mimic the leaders who have avoided calling it a “war” and to emphasize his discontent.

When you libs accuse FOX NEWS of being biased in its reporting, you are right, only the only person biased has a liberal.

Shep is not happy he can’t beat Beck. He is now throwing his opinion into his “newscast”. Too bad because most of his opinions suck.

Wow…even Shep has snapped out of the “Obama zombie trance” and realizes that liberal political correctness is destroying this country. There is hope after all!

Dunno ’bout that………….it’ll take more than a lil tantrum to make up for all the Leftist rhetoric Shep’s recited. But I gotta admit to agreeing with him on this one.

Whether we call it a war or a humanitarian intervention, We’re still dropping bombs on Libya’s army.

Since when is dropping bombs and killing people considered war, shep? C’mon dude.

Btw, who’s gonna be Obamas ‘ollie north’ when this thing ends if it does?

Has it been “a few days” yet?

  • slickerwick

Stop it, Shep. You’re gonna make the pipe-organ voiced, ever-smirking Maddow cry. She’s the one who’s anti-war, err, then, again, never mind; she’s pro-war now that it’s the cool-dude Bush III doing the bombing in a Muslim country.

    Lunatic-left d-crat socialist (comical) euphemisms:

    1. It’s not “You Lie!” hussein’s LIBYAN WAR , it’s “KINETIC MILITARY ACTION”
    2. It’s not AMNESTY for ILLEGAL immigrant criminals, it’s “COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM”
    3. It’s not OUT-OF-CONTROL, IRRESPONSIBLE, RECKLESS GOVERNMENT SPENDING, it’s “ECONOMIC STIMULUS”
    4. It’s not about lunatic-left d-crat socialist CONTROL of one-sixth of the US economy, lunatic-left d-crat socialist WEALTH AND INCOME RE-DISTRIBUTION, lunatic-left d-crat socialist EXPANSION OF ABORTIONS WITH TAXPAYER MONEY and lunatic-left d-crat socialist NANNY STATE DICTATES to the American people, it’s “HEALTHCARE REFORM”
    5. It’s not a mechanism for involuntary transfers of money from taxpayers to the lunatic-left d-crat socialist party which is bankrupting cities, towns and states from GOLD-PLATED benefits and HUMONOUS pensions, it’s a “CHUSHY-JOB PUBLIC-SECTOR UNION”
    6. It’s not a sham of a joke of a travesty of a parody of a farce of a law-respecting and law-enforcing organization, it’s “You Lie!” hussein’s and his imbecile AG and Black Panther Party supporter and defender holder’s DEPARTMENT OF “JUSTICE”.
    7. It’s not radical islamic muslim terrorism, it’s “MAN-CAUSED DISASTERS”
    8. They’re not Pro-Life Supporters, Returning Vets or Patriotic Americans, they’re “POTENTIAL TERRORISTS AGAINST AMERICA”
    9. They’re not vicious, criminal Death Threats against Wisconsin legislators, the Wisconsin Governor, and each and every American Patriot, they’re an expression of “FREEDOM OF SPEECH”
    10. It’s not endless lies, distortions, misrepresentations, bs, half-truths, baseless slime attacks and leftist propaganda, it’s “NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO” informing the ignorant masses.

Some enterprising muslim entrepreneur needs to start a Match.com sight where Western leaders can go to court these various rebel and rag tag groups across the region. This way they spend a lost weekend together before we spend $300 million on their behalf, only to find out they were two timing the Nato coalition with their first love al Qaeda.

If Obama or any left wing loser says one more word about George Bush, Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld, may God immediately strike them down by lightning. If this president and his F – TROOP back to normal, gang that couldn’t shoot, think or see their way through straight weren’t so dangerous to the future safety and well being of our childen and their future, this, you can’t make ths _____ up Obama moment would be the stuff that great sitcoms ae me of.

Well well well…where is all the lib/progressive outrage over this illegal war on Lybia?  Huh…where are you?  Huh?  Huh?  Where is the hate and indignation from Hollywood lefties?  Where?  Could it be that when they were all calling for the assassination of George W Bush because of Iraq they were actually targeting a sitting president merely because he was a Republican?

We never again want to hear the libs/progressives attempt to claim they are morally superior than the average American or climb on their holier-than-thou anti war high horse.  We all now know that they are simply playing politics and doing so with the lives of men and women in uniform not to mention a past president.

Ahhh, but you forget the depth of the Dimness of the the media suckers. Hussein (or Charles Manson if he were a Democrat politician) can have the DCMPN (Democrat Campaign Media Posing as News) back in his pocket by tomorrow at mid-morning. All he has to do is snap his fingers and say, “it’s Bush’s fault” and they will jump to attention and repeat after him, “it’s Bush’s fault.”

Did you read the Q1 ratings that came out today? I did, and Fox Report was #3 in the demo, ahead of Beck. FWIW.

What did we call it when Reagan bombed Libya? I was a little kid then, don’t remember. What about Bosnia? Did we call that a war? I haven’t formed an opinion on what we call this thing yet, I just wonder about those earlier conflicts and what they were called.

There is outrage. You’re not looking. The left isn’t in lockstep, is all, but there are plenty who find this illegal and are angry about it. Read FireDogLake. They’re not happy. Glenn Greenwald has been relentlessly critical of Obama. Plenty of liberals on the blogs are against this. Plenty are for it, too. And, in fact, prominent bloggers on the left like Yglesias and Josh Marshall at TPM were in favor of the Iraq War when it started, and the entire liberal/left blogosphere actually took off with lots of spirited debate in the first place because people on the left were arguing *with each other* about whether or not invading Iraq was justified. Andrew Sullivan, who is not a liberal but is considered by many on the right to be one, famously said the anti-war left might be a “fifth column” back then.

Get a library card. Use the PC you are mentally jerking off with as an educational tool. Don’t depend upon the neocons, the troggs, the caliphate believers, or ANYONE to give you information. Find it for yourself. Form your own opinion. It’s called getting an education. It’s work, but it’s worth it.
Read “Why We Are in Viet Nam”, and “The Fire in the Lake”. Read “Hell in a Very Small Place”.
Learn about the “Beirut Yacht Club”. About “Throwing Volkswagens at ragheads”. About running with our tails tucked when a bomb killed 241 Marines in a DORMITORY in a war zone.
Read about “Arms for Hostages”, and “Arms for Saddam”, and running cocaine to fund revolution in Central America.
Let us know when you get well under way. I promise, you will NEVER finish.
Put simply, I outlined a start for an inquiry of the ’70′s & ’80′s.
The beat goes on. You can be a student. You can be a tool. It is UP TO YOU>

Be cool, man. The questions were somewhat rhetorical, as I don’t recall that those were referred to commonly as wars. I’ll be damned if I believe anything the neocons say, and Gary Webb was right, and some of those books sound interesting, but you’re free to think I’m a tool if you want. I don’t care.

Tell them the truth, Gordo. Your boy Ronnie had a LOT to do with Gaddaffi. There was the “Disco” bombing in Germany. The “No-fly zone”,. The “tent bombing”. The “Beirut Yacht Club”. The arms to the PLO and Hezbollah. The arms to Iran and Iraq while they were at war. The cocaine smuggling to pay for the death squads in Nicaragua and Honduras. Yeah, Gordo, pull out your VCR and show us all how you supported treason in the 1980′s.

I don’t think you are one, I don’t want you to be one,
I gave a short list of books that concern an era you said was before you.
Take no one’s word as to what is true. Decide for yourself. That is an education.
You’re right about one thing, none of those was called a war. There hasn’t been a “Declaration of War” since Dec. 8, 1941. That is part of the problem.
I am not a young man, but this country has never declared war in my lifetime.
I have lost friends or family in Korea, Viet Nam, and Iraq. Friends and family (great phrase) have invaded the previous countries plus Lebanon, The Dominican Republic, Granada, Somalia, Panama, Afghanistan……..
    Need I go on?
I’m not here to score points or insult anyone. I’m begging anyone who hasn’t drunk the Kool-Aid on either side to LEARN SOME HISTORY before they spout off.
The history of the Middle East needs to be considered under the aspect of the Balfour Declaration and the Sevres Treaty of 1920, that carved up the Turkish Ottoman Empire to the benefit of British and French banks.
The people of the Middle East don’t trust us. They have little reason to do so.
In closing, I’m cool. Peace be with you.

No matter how hard you try, you still can’t equate this to Iraq.

You are correct, they are absolutely playing politics. The thing is, we are all still Americans and we realize there is a compromise and sometimes the US does flex its muscles. The key thing to focus on, is to what extent. Like I said before, no matter how hard you try, you can not equate this military involvement to the military action taken in Iraq in 2003.

Fifty+ years ago a candidate for President wen on the “Tonight Show” with a host named Jack Paar.
Paar asked about the concept of responding to rebellions throughout the world. The guest, JFK, said, “First, the people have to ask for our help. We cannot impose democracy from without. It must come from within.”
The people of Libya asked for the help of the world. If we deny it, we give the wrong meaning to :American Exceptionalism”.

Still think Shep is right on, and tells it like it is. He’s just confused, um like the rest of us. This is Not a War, but tell that to the people getting shot-up. It seems the USA has taken sides and sides with the opposition, and when the opposition (rebels) move in on the citizens in Tripoli, will the coalition move in and blast the opposition from the air because they are killing innocents?
It seems the USA and coalition are the private Air Force for the opposition, rebels. Very confusing.

History has documented that for every corrupt act by anyone else, there are at least a dozen acts of corruption by Democrats. For every bad judgement decision by anyone else, there are a plethora of proven disasters by Democrat decision-makers. Not my opinion, just history.

Nonetheless, reversal of truth is the view you MUST take, Slakin’. But then you are in the unfortunate position of having to defend 10% unemployment, skyrocketing gas and food costs, and America’s loss of respect globally in order to be a Dim and support America’s continuing demise..
