‘Hathaway Is A Drip’ & ‘Franco Was Stoned’ Tina Brown & Morning Joe Hate On Oscars

video

Daily Beast/Newsweek Editor in Chief Tina Brown joined the set of Morning Joe this morning, and by all accounts, she absolutely hated last night’s Academy Awards, or more to the point, the job that Anne Hathaway did co-hosting the show. The Morning Joe crew vociferously disagreed with Brown; it was her co-host James Franco who ruined the Oscars, most likely because he was stoned (allegedly!)

Rarely does one see such a pure and uncut display of hate on the entertainment industry, but this had the feeling of the establishment criticizing the younger generation taking over. It’s not yet confirmed, but shortly after leaving the MSNBC studio, Brown reportedly stuck her head out of a 30 Rock window and allegedly yelled at kids to “get off of her lawn!” Not really.

The Oscars and Nobel Prizes have devolved into a haughty show of Libs backslapping other Libs. Everyone knows this to be true. The ridicule is completely deserved.

  • ohwell

Think this is the first time that most people can agree with Tina Brown – last night’s Oscars were AWWWWWFUL

If Bo Derek could act, you might have a conservative presence. Conservatives are just not very artistic, not very creative.

RRKING admits . Who even goes to movies , anyway ? Who wants to hear actours talking ? I miss the piano player .
I’ll stick with my canasta games and my trusty checkouerboard !

It would have been better if Franco had been truly stoned or at least if the audience had been.

Totally agree with what they said about Kirk Douglas.

BTW, Billy Crystal sucks also! He is way over rated and his last year hosting was abominable. People who think he was good also still think “Laugh In” was funny!

Seriously, could you not just post “yeah the oscars suck” and move on with your life? Oh no. Have to be sure to bash the libs. I assume you don’t watch film or television, then? I mean if the Oscars is just a disgusting lib parade……you know what Hollywood is full of? LIBS!!!!!!!

Really? The Oscars are still on? Haven’t watched network TV in years. I do find it odd that so many people still watch a bunch of rich spoiled politically mindless hand puppets kissing each others asses so amusing…

sounds like a huge catfight between media elites and hollywood elites to me.

…although I do appreciate Kelsey Grammar’s portrayal of the inimitable Fraiser Crane.

And Mel Gibson was pretty good in Mad Max.

But yeah, other than that, I’d say we can pretty much paint an entire side of a political spectrum as talentless with one broad stroke.

I agree with Tina Brown here, but it’s not like she is the very most interesting and exciting person on TV!

Ehhhh….might have to keep going a bit. Dennis Hopper (RIP), Jon Voight, Robert Duvall, Kurt Russell, Patricia Heaton……oh and Clint Eastwood is a libertarian. Fortunately, God chose to bless me with a fully functional brain and I am able to enjoy someone’s work regardless of their political beliefs. I feel bad for others who aren’t so lucky.

yeeeeaahhhh, because THAT’s what happened at the Oscars last night… :rolls eyes:

  • Leckan

I totally agree that it was awful, but James Franco saw stiffer than a tree, at least Anne didn’t fail tremendously, only a little…

  • WCinWI

Why are these liberals mad that they merely witnessed liberals hosting and winning? What’d they expect?

OMG, Tina Brown was nasty about Kirk Douglas. She is wrong about Anne, IMHO. I thought she was adorable. She’s jealous of pretty women… And what does she know about good talent… she just hired Andrew Sullivan.

Franco was stoned, and not great, but the show was not awful.

Yeah – I like Anne. She’s like a younger Sandra Bullock. I thought she did an ok job.

I thought the Oscars were boring, ok and until they get rid of some of the categories, a waste of time.

    Huh?
You’re comparing a journalist’s talents to that of a Hollywood star?

And Tina Brown is jealous of pretty women? THAT’S what you extrapolated from Tina’s opinion? Oookkkk…..
(and IF you’re right about that, then you can rest assured that she would never be jealous of you)

I think that Tina is jealous of pretty women too. If you watch enough of her interviews, you can tell that she’s the wrong type of feminist.

Is anyone going to write about how *white* it was last night?

Talent is talent. And the opinion of someone who trashes Anne Hathaway but hires Sullivan means nothing to me.

“THAT’S what you extrapolated from Tina’s opinion?” – no, that’s what I get after listening to her talk about certain women, over and over again.

“(and IF you’re right about that, then you can rest assured that she would never be jealous of you)” – *ouch* that hurts so much coming from an anonymous commenter on the internet. *eyeroll*. how old are you? six?

  • Dem4Ever

Wow,  One can’t help, but be embarrassed for both Little Annie and Jimbo Franco!  They sucked worse than a $20 whore.  And where is the outrage over Hathaways really long joke about lesbians…?  Nothing…not even on page 4.

You may have a point. But there have been many stories of people in the entertainment industry (everyone not just the on screen talent) wanting to/feeling they need to, fit in despite there actual opinions. It’s not a “blacklist” but a general overall feeling they have to conform to the prescribed norms. Kinda like someone who is gat feeling they need to pretent they are something they are not to feel socially accepted… or even to just work and earn a living.

It is odd that conservatives don’t seem to be very creative, I think it’s just a brain thing.

Liberals can imagine how good the future could be..

Conservatives think that god is coming back, so they don’t see a future for earth, explains alot.

Dear Citizens of the United States of America,

It has come to our attention that the brothers, David and Charles Koch—the billionaire owners of Koch Industries—have long attempted to usurp American Democracy. Their actions to undermine the legitimate political process in Wisconsin are the final straw. Starting today we fight back.

Koch Industries, and oligarchs like them, have most recently started to manipulate the political agenda in Wisconsin. Governor Walker’s union-busting budget plan contains a clause that went nearly un-noticed. This clause would allow the sale of publicly owned utility plants in Wisconsin to private parties (specifically, Koch Industries) at any price, no matter how low, without a public bidding process. The Koch’s have helped to fuel the unrest in Wisconsin and the drive behind the bill to eliminate the collective bargaining power of unions in a bid to gain a monopoly over the state’s power supplies.

The Koch brothers have made a science of fabricating ‘grassroots’ organizations and advertising campaigns to support them in an attempt to sway voters based on their falsehoods. Americans for Prosperity, Club for Growth and Citizens United are just a few of these organizations. In a world where corporate money has become the lifeblood of political influence, the labor unions are one of the few ways citizens have to fight against corporate greed. Anonymous cannot ignore the plight of the citizen-workers of Wisconsin, or the opportunity to fight for the people in America’s broken political system. For these reasons, we feel that the Koch brothers threaten the United States democratic system and, by extension, all freedom-loving individuals everywhere. As such, we have no choice but to spread the word of the Koch brothers’ political manipulation, their single-minded intent and the insidious truth of their actions in Wisconsin, for all to witness.

Anonymous hears the voice of the downtrodden American people, whose rights and liberties are being systematically removed one by one, even when their own government refuses to listen or worse – is complicit in these attacks. We are actively seeking vulnerabilities, but in the mean time we are calling for all supporters of true Democracy, and Freedom of The People, to boycott all Koch Industries’ paper products. We welcome unions across the globe to join us in this boycott to show that you will not allow big business to dictate your freedom.

Well, you do have a point. Libs’ lock on the consumption of crack, heroin, and alcohol is where all that **cough** artistry and creativity **cough** come from (see: Charlie Sheen et al). That show of ‘artistry and creativity’ resulted in plummeting Oscar ratings and a richly deserved bludgeoning of the night where Libs simply backslap other Libs.

Ha ha ha. Tina Brown is now officially indicted for PMS above and beyond the boundaries permitted by God and nature…! She hates on Ann because Ms.. Hathaway is everything the former biyotch-in-chief of mags she’s been fired from isn’t. Ann is young, beautiful, intelligent, and wants to be a mom, while the ogress TB is an over-the-hill Gorgon without a future and with a clouded past. Ann is a winner, TB is a loser. End. Stop.

Joe is right—Franco is or was on a substance normally strictly controlled by the DEA.

So from what I hear on this board, artists are crack addicted liberals and the studio heads are conservative. Can you please choose an over-generalization and stick to it?
And by the way, for Cons brainwashed into thinking “Hollywood” people (whatever that means) are all alcoholic, coke-sniffing, whore-hiring , pansy, Prius driving, America-haters, why are you spending one second of your time watching TV, watching movies or listening to music? Why do you support alcoholic, coke-sniffing, whore-hiring , pansy, Prius driving, America-haters?
