Herman Cain: The Goal Of Liberals Is To Economically Destroy The United States

video

On Meet the Press today, Herman Cain explained to David Gregory why he believes that liberals in the United States are invested in seeing the country fail and would do anything to see its destruction.

Cain argued that if the economic situation was to get any worse, “it would destroy our economic capability,” and from that the United States would have to look at making cuts in defense spending, which Cain seemed to imply were not on the table for him. Gregory asked the candidate to clarify if he truly meant liberals would be implicit in the destruction of America, rather than just pure mismanagement. Cain continue to stick by his comments, saying, “They do not believe in a stronger America, in my opinion.”

Liberals do not believe in our system of government and because of that they will destroy us as he says. I don’t however believe they really want to destroy us they just have no understanding of socialism or capitalism. We need a capitalist country like we were created to enjoy personal freedom and liberals don’t understand how you are not free under socialism.

This man does not want to be president.  Too many stupid comments.  He has no filter.

He is running for Teabagger In Chief, which guarantees him a show on FOX.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WH3ZLMM7CUKUHUIMK4TKXW6SQE John

I don’t think all liberals want to destroy a capitalistic America, just most.  They simply don’t have a grasp of economics and the realities of limited money.  Cain is pretty much correct.

  • Anonymous

Liberals do not believe in a ‘stronger America”? I see. And that is why we have planted how many more terrorists than the Bush administration? Simply regurgitated talking points that only appeal to the wingnuts.

The rich get nothing but richer while the middle class and poor continue to get poorer.

Excellent economy for a CEO of a corporation huh Herman?

I expect Cain next to say that liberals want to steal your first born and give them to Al Gore to become priests in the Global Waming church. The guy is a crackpot. lol

Another token republican.  Let’s see!  Michael Steele – J.C. Watts – and and and and oh well Cain.

  • Tex45

Does anybody need further proof that Cain is a lunatic?

  • Michelle

He’s right.  They want to destroy it so they can rebuild it under a more Socialist/Communist model. Cloward and Piven anyone!!

I’m not sure how anyone can even deny that at this point.  Either Barry is the dumbest, most incompetent man alive or he’s intentionally destroying the economy. Take your pick.

  • Michelle

    You’re a racist.  Period!

I can’t wait for a Cain vs. Obama debate.

Cain’s worked for the Fed. Any economy question can be relegated to such.

    “Well, at the Fed we….”

  • TomT

Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are liberals. Now I know their real goals thanks to Cain.

Awesome cornbread, awesome. Go ahead, self-destruct

Alright, tea party, you’ve made your point, you’re not racist. We are. You’re the beacon of tolerance and enlightenment. Your hard work in the civil rights movement and to advance the black man will always be second to none.

Now can you put him out his misery and prepare ourselves for the Romney-Obama debates?

You forgot Allen West and Tim Scott.

    Keep up with your racism.

  • Irish189

I have a feeling Cain’s political team might have put their heads in their hand when they heard that comment

Outrageous statements will get press and attention, both of which are good for running for public office, but its still an outrageous statement and not one most people i think would actually take seriously

I suppose it could help him with the primary but then he has to defend a statement like that if he wins the primary where saying something like that probably just causes most mainstream voters to sigh and take him less seriously

David Gregory gave him the opportunity to “clarify” his remarks but for some reason Cain seemed oblivious

  • Mencius

That’s why I’d love for him to get the nomination. This sort of thing in a general campaign would basically assure that the GOP loses in 2012.

First, I’m at total loss as to how and why any black man would support and seek the Toxic Egotistical Activist(TEA) party endorsement given the Taxation Eradication Anarchists(TEA) previous efforts to re-subjugate the black community!  Second, Cain using “Liberal” and other words to describe the electorate in demeaning contexts!n This man is not addressing the failures of the current Congress(112th) to generate jobs the freshmen Congress persons said they would provide when they ran in 2010! Herman making statements like “They do not want a strong America” is blowing smoke as debt repudiation is not just a “Conservative” ideal but a world wide ideal,  just like ”Love of Country” not Exclusive to Republicans or TEA party-ers! He’s dreaming his has momentum and he will also be sorely disappointed when he is dropped like a rock! His 9-9-9 plan is a pipe dream that resonates well among those with limited education but that plan doesn’t have a chance in hell as most accountants realize they would be out of a job instantly!

It’s comments like this that will come back to haunt him in the general election, if through some time-space vortex he managed to become the Republican nominee.

What kind of president would Cain be if he contemptuously and arrogantly believes that nearly half of Americans hate and want to destroy their own country?

Why the hell can’t we cut military spending?

We spend more than all the other nations on Earth combined to maintain an empire. Why the hell do we need to provide military protection for Japan? Why do we need multiple bases in Germany (or any in the first place)?

Empires only bankrupt the emperor states. Look at Rome, look at England, hell even look at China.

I think it would be interesting to see Cain or any of the other Tea Party nutters (otherwise known as anyone other than Huntsman or Romney) get the nod for the GOP  if only because it might shock the Tea Partiers, who think that they represent America, into realizing that something is off in their calculation of where they stand:

    http://swampland.time.com/full-results-of-oct-9-10-2011-time-poll/

The Republicans destroyed the economy in 2008. I have news for conservatives, 400 people having all the money is not capitalism, never was and never will be, but you are going to keep drinking the Kool-AID, that they need tax cuts, because they are going to reward your loyalty, just as soon as they get all of your money.
So please explain to me where is the motivation for the ultra wealthy to do ANYTHING but hoard all the money? I am being serious here, Adam Smith economics, ‘everyone look out for your own narrow self interest,’ WHY would they do anything but buy a yacht and a congress??? I didn’t say congressmen, I said congress, right now you have 3 billionaires determining economic policy of the entire nation with propaganda, and money, how is the current system either democratic or capitalist??? HOW???

I’d rather have Cain/Obama debates to be honest. Romney is to smooth, Cain will make it painfully obvious why Obama is the better choice. That’s my take anyway, can’t say I’ve had a point when I was listening to Cain where I went “hey that sounds legitimate.” He doesn’t seem to have a clear viewpoint on many issues, everyday seems to be a new soundbyte or headline.. which is a great way to stay in the news.. but it’s almost tabloid-like.

I don’t think people like him or Bachmann will make Republicans look good.. but who cares, they can dig their own grave if they want. I’m not going to get mad about it, like some of these other dorks -_- lol

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WH3ZLMM7CUKUHUIMK4TKXW6SQE John

    Thanks for proving my point.

  • Pablo

Remember when he said “You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive
administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Yeah. This guy doesn’t have a chance if he’s gonna say dumb shit like that.

    Oh, wait…

Do you think Cain is expecting much of the Liberal vote?

It is wrong and subtly racist to assume that a black man must be a liberal. It is wrong to assume that the TEA party is basically racist, just because they appeared out of nowhere after a black man got elected and there were all kinds of racist signs at the first televised TEA party rallies.

We should all be past that by now, but we can’t be if we keep bringing it up over and over again.

  • JT

Thats not my argument..I am not defending them nor will I in this case. However, Cain is saying the Liberals want to destroy the American economy and you said Yep. My point being, its an indefensible position..To say all liberals or all conservatives want to ruin America is just plain ignorant.
There are clearly positions on both sides that are harmful and some that are good.
Fiscally, I am a conservative but I would not want the corporations governing themselves as I belief that is just the fox watching the hen house and we have seen that rodeo before.
People are very quick to say-no government regulations. If we had none, would you be confident that chemical or oil companies would not pollute our drinking water just to make an extra buck?

  • Anonymous

I was reminded of his last job when he was introduced for a news segment this morning. His last job was radio talk show host.
    1. Coming up with wild ideas is what they do all day. It gets an audience and it gets him paid. No radio talk show host is ever held accountable for those wild ideas, so they can talk all they want and the more inflammatory their words, the more loyal their listeners become.
This means that Cain has not shifted gears from talk show host to real politician.
    2. Why the heck did he quit being a successful(?) CEO and become a radio talk show host?

  • Anonymous

You really believe that half the population wants to destroy the country intentionally?
The other half, the conservatives are doing it unintentionally, but we will correct that next year.

  • Anonymous

    I prefer the 555 plan.

Good point. upgrade from obscure radio talk show host to TV talk show host. More pay than his current gig. I’m still wondering why he quit being a CEO to become a radio talker.

How is he going to regenerate jobs there? Put coal back into the mines? Build new steel mills? First, he will have to put the iron ore back in the mines in Minnesota. We have used up some of our natural resources during all those years. We have more elsewhere, but that won’t help Pennsylvanian.
The mining jobs are now in Wyoming.

  • ganymede

Yes, we liberals and progressive types want to see America fail and the rightwingers will take us on the path to prosperity and salvation. The truth of the matter is that Republicans haven’t made one suggestion in years that would improve the lives of Americans. We’ve tried the trickle down method and it was a con and still is a con. Even certain forms of that dirty word ‘Socialism’ have fared better as is seen in Germany, Canada and Scandanavia. What’s much more telling is that the rightwingers can’t even find a palatable candidate other than the hapless Rino Romney. Cain has a shelf life of a few more weeks before his full story comes out, and he, like the rest of the bozo Republican candidates, is thrown on the scrapheap.
Herman Cain is a wholly owned subsdiary of David & Charles Koch Enterprises. Every step of his political career has been directed and financed by various Koch Bros organizations including, of course, the Tea Party. He’s a political twin to the only other prominent black sellout, Clarence Thomas, who has to be the biggest insult to black and white Americans and the most unqualified Supreme Court Justice in the past 100 years. Mind you, Black Americans are the most politically astute group in America who have not been helped or respected in the least by Republicans for the past 40-50 years. That’s why they don’t vote for them, which, of course, is logic beyond most rightwinger’s understanding.

First of all, rich business owners hire people to manage and work in their companies and sell their products.  Secondly, if a person buys a yacht, the yacht was designed, built and sold by companies that had people working in them at each of the stages of designing, building and selling.  Buying a yacht supports all of these workers.  You also need a crew on the yacht.  If you cut back on the rich person’s ability or right to buy a yacht, all of these workers are adversely affected.
How did the Republicans destroy the economy in 2008?  The economy has been ruined by a globalist mentality that infected both parties when they decided to outsource 90% of the production in the United States.

You are right that liberty and capitalism work well together and that capitalism does not guarantee liberty. I did not mean to imply that economics and liberty are the same issue. I also did not say any capitalist country, I said a capitalist country like we were created to be. Not even like we are currently.

I would agree with you on globalization, some of it may be good for us like textiles, but we have practically subsidized China’s technological development, by manufacturing planes and cars there, and now they are ripping us off with counterfeit knock-offs.

Rich people have someone run their company, but that does not produce new jobs, and that is what we need new jobs. Rich people defend their wealth, and that is human nature and cannot be changed, but those jobs already exist and those jobs already exist. Innovation is the only way to create new jobs, that and we need to maintain our infrastructure so that people can get to work and products can be moved in trade. Right now the republicans are fine with sitting and twitiling their thumbs while Rome is burning. We have tried supply-side economics, and that has FAILED, the corporations are sitting on capital because we are in a demand crisis, while all consumers are de-leveraging from crushing housing, credit card, and student debt.

Look, the yacht was a rhetorical hyperbole, I suppose that if I said golden toilet bowl, you would defend that industry, and how it requires specialized plumbers to work with the gold, it is really beside the point.

Massive housing bubble starting in about 2000, a lax SEC, Hank Paulson allowing for the 30 to 1 leverage ratio’s, 44 to 1 for Merrill Lynch, which is historically 20 to 1 max, junk bonds rated AAA, and predatory loan practices that all occurred under Bush and might have been prevented.

A midterm election during a down economy doesn’t give a political party an all powerful mandate. Every time a political party acts like it does they get trounced. Remember 1994? Hell, think of the Democrats’ fortunes from 2006 to now.

  • JT

First of it all it is a theory and pouring chemicals into your drinking water is death to tens of thousands. Its not just about profits The EPA has been around for 40 years and I think businesses have been able function quite well..Its a straw man argument..As I asked earlier, are you comfortable giving corps free reign over where they put their waste or how much CO2 they put into the air? They clearly have shown they do not care and have willingly destroyed the environment in exchange for higher profits. There is a middle ground. Do you not want any govt regs?
So no police force, no armed forces, no road repair, etc. These are all paid for by our taxes..
So Obamacare no good- but you are fine with Medicare?

He’s got this far within his Party and I’m pleasantly surprised.

The banks were forced into ridiculously lax mortgages by the federal government.  It was part of a social experiment with home ownership. The idea was that everyone “deserves” their own home and that traditional mortgage guidelines were discriminatory.  Don’t you remember pictures of Al Sharpton and his gang picketing outside and even inside of banks because they wouldn’t give mortgages in poor neighborhoods?  Established mortgage guidelines were thrown out the window.

United States companies were also offered huge tax incentives to move their means of production and jobs offshore to other countries.  It’s been going on for at least twenty years, under both Democrat and Republican administrations.  Check out the Gibson Guitar situation going on right now.  Gibson Guitar (a United States manufacturer)  has been raided by federal agents twice in the last two years.  They have court proceedings pending against them because they supposedly imported wood for their guitars illegally.  The CEO of Gibson has affidavits from the government of Madagascar saying that all importation rules were followed and that they obtained their wood legally.  The workers at the companies were sent out of the factories and made to stand outside while the agents entered and  took computers, records, etc.  The CEO of Gibson says that he was told  by federal agents that most of his problems would “go away” if he would outsource his manufacturing jobs (over a thousand positions in four states).  It’s both Democrats and Republicans who have been abetting this.  Essentially, they (our government officials) have been selling us out with some sort of globalization experiment in mind.

    No comment on Gibson.
The financial collapse was not due to lending in poor neighborhoods, are you going to sit here and tell me that the financial collapse was because of government encouragement for loans to poor black people. like a 60,000 home is going to bankrupt the country. I hate to break it to you, but it was the ballooning of prices in the suburbs, that had the greatest effect. Houses that were worth 220k in 3 years are 400k. That is the definition of a bubble. The urban poor did not have a housing bubble. The FCIC concluded that, “the crisis was avoidable and was caused by: Widespread failures in
financial regulation, including the Federal Reserve’s failure to stem
the tide of toxic mortgages; Dramatic breakdowns in corporate governance
including too many financial firms acting recklessly and taking on too
much risk; An explosive mix of excessive borrowing and risk by
households and Wall Street that put the financial system on a collision
course with crisis; Key policy makers ill prepared for the crisis,
lacking a full understanding of the financial system they oversaw; and
systemic breaches in accountability and ethics at all levels.”

Those deaths of tens of thousands, where? Every time  people exhale they are exhaling CO2. Trees turn it into oxygen. EPA regs are closing coal mines, not permitting drilling in ANWR or in the Gulf.Global warmiming is a farce , Cap and Trade a scheme to raise the price of energy . I’m not talking about the police and the rule of law. The EPA regs go around congress where ALL laws are supposed to originate. Are you aware that hidden in 0bamacare is a 3.8% tax on home sales,… not your profit, the gross sale price.  That will do wonders for  the real estate market. Also in 0bamacare  there is a provision which  gives the govt  access to your bank accounts for the purpose of  real time wire tranfers out of your accounts by the govt.

I was going to write quite a long explanation of how socialism is more about economics than politics as a way of solving problems, but I think I will let you tell me exactly HOW socialism takes away liberties.

I know that socialism is not as economically effective as capitalism, and cannot replace capitalism, but that is a different matter. What matters is how does it repress anyone?

Don’t use the Soviet Union, China, or Nazi Germany to prove anything. They were perversions of the ideal. Use Greece or any of the other European Socialists and tell me how the people are oppressed. Don’t they have democracy? Don’t they have governments that have given them too much instead of nothing at all?

My point is not to say that we should be socialists. My point is that this is not about individual liberties. It is about economics. Pure socialism is terrible economics in order to produce the ultimate liberties. The reason it does not work is not because it is oppressive, but because it takes away incentives to work.

The reason there are abortions is because there is a demand for them, plain and simple, not some political agenda. There always has been and always will be a demand until the 100% effective contraceptive is created and abstinence fails miserably. This is not even a political issue or moral issue. It is a personal health issue. Who are you to dictate that a woman who does not want to have a baby should be forced to keep a child? Would she be a good parent? No.

OTOH, I do wonder if Cain really believes this “Liberals want to bring down the economy” idea. It may be a case of Republicans actually believing their own propaganda. Rush says the most extreme things he can think of in order to rile up and swell his audience, then the mushy-brain people like Bachmann and Cain actually believe it.

If so, Rush and the other political evangelists are not just hurting America, they are destroying the Republican Party.

The ultimate liberty to you is to be taken care of by the state? The very reasons you state about why it doesn’t work as an economic system is why it doesn’t create true liberty. Freedom of choice and freedom of thought. Freedom to enjoy the fruits of your own labor. Freedom to create and reap benefits. You are the one to mention that a socialist economic system fails because people have no incentive to work. People thrive on the freedom to create, to fail and to succeed. The liberty you speak of is not liberty. It is empty and hollow. Sadly we humans must have the freedom to fail in order to appreciate success. Without failure and success what good is your liberty? No you do not describe the ultimate liberty you describe the ultimate laziness. Also to create the perfect socialist society all must conform to one way of thinking. You call that freedom?

Herman, just how did you contribute to the destruction of the American economy, while you worked at the Federal Reserve?  What actions did you undertake while working at the Fed?  For your information, Herman, it is the Federal Reserve that is the major controller of the American economy.  They are the ones printing the money.  Accusing businesses of destroying the economy and looking the other way while the Federal Reserve prints up trillions of dollars doesn’t say much for your integrity, Herman.  You couldn’t possibly be so stupid.

Maybe it’s just me, but I have a sneaking suspicion it’s not just the Dems vs Repubs but maybe who owns them that’s our problem, like maybe, I dunno, the FED and the Wall St. banksters who we were all forced to bail out. One Goldman Sacks banker said, “If you think what we’re doing is so wrong, why don’t you do something about it?” That’s a request I’d like to fulfill.  No, we’ve all been taken for a long ride for a lot longer than 40-50 years.  More like a hundred.

Ron Paul educated me, opened my eyes. He’s never been one of them, he’s always been one of us, for us. [Hell, why do you think he's strange, a little odd?] I’d never seen disgust on Paul’s face until the last debate when Cain lied through his teeth regarding the statements he’d made about people who wanted the FED audited. I registered Repub so I could vote for Paul. Probably be the only vote I make in my life for someone instead of against.  And the only one I’ve ever contributed money to (you can’t imagine what an endorsment that is! )

the EPA is a lawless group of wildcat regulators who live in DC and don’t give a rip whether anyone else has a job or not, how high your electric bill is, how much gas costs, whether you can heat your home or not,or even if we have a functional society. they do not weigh the cost/benefit of anything they do, in fact the more it costs society the better. They have power, outside of congress, and can do basically what they please, regardless of the price real people pay. I hate them with passion and all who support them. The EPA might have played a role once, much like unions once did. Now they are fighting about parts per quadrillion and it has NOTHING to do with clean air or water.

I thought everyone was to have “skin” in the game.  Then why do only 53% of Americans pay federal taxs?    Or is it more Obama bs talk.  Liberals want to give it all way as long as someone else pays for it.  You still in mommies basement JT or does Uncle Sam cover you?  How does an illegal who stole someone elses job make 30K pay no federal (above board or not) have 2kids in pubilc school at a cost avg of 10k each, trips to the ER ($$$), get food assistance and tax credits (if they file) which in the end means $20-$30 a year in handouts while paying exactly ZERO.  Times lets say 10,000,000 (all recivers ie citizens too)  !0,000,000 X $25,000 = 250,000,000,000 a year.  Funny thing called MATH.

Now back to your arguments- a) what does that have to do with destroying America b) Liberals dont want to give it all away- most normal, thinking Liberals want the tax rate to go to where it was pre-Bush. This is a small increase that I believe is justifiable. c) I agree the govt needs to be more efficient but that is a problem that is under R or D regimes. It will never change. The Republicans scream for small govt and then go and open up new departments, increase hiring, and increase spending. I agree with you as it pertains to illegal immigrants. However, the larger problem isnt them coming here and taking our menial jobs, its our corporations sending manufacturing jobs overseas. The country can live with undocumented workers picking crops, if you know of any farmers they are freaking out that they may lose their workers-see Alabama.
We need to repatriate our manufacturing jobs and change the tax code to benefit companies that do so.
I think Reps and Dems are closer in ideology than you think when it comes to fiscal responsibility. I think we would all like smaller govt and lower taxes- unfortunately, with two wars and historically low tax rates while at war- we need to change things up. This is the first time in the history of the world that taxes were lowered at time of war. Since you mentioned MATH, I am sure you remember your Micro Econ and the guns vs butter argument. Clearly Bush missed that class.
The far right and the far left clearly dont agree with each other- that still leaves millions more to try and find a compromise- thats what govt is all about.

Not deranged at all. Our dear President has followed Saul Alinksy’s Rules for Radicals step by step. Abby Hoffman, in “Steal This Book,” describes the founding of ACORN as a tool for the destruction of the economy and implementation of communism. Currently, only half of Americans pay taxes, and the other half feeds on them, as both authors above intended. Further, if you refuse to even consider these ideas and label them deranged, who is avoiding intelligent conversation ? Read Ploward-Clivens and the above mentioned books, all proponents of what is now labeled “liberalism,” and you will see the basis for this argument. I recommend you read them soon. Congress may soon ban them. They are currently attempting to ban criticism of the Transportation Security Agency. But hey, I’m deranged. And a Tea Party member, therefore obviously also a racist.

You”re relying on government to protect you? Don’t you think the American public would have demanded less pollution on it’s own? If not, then why did the public press the government to make the laws?No one is saying “all liberals,”…..many liberals are simply, as Lenin put it, useful idiots engaging in the destruction with good intentions. An alcoholic probably does not want to lose his wife and kids, but he chooses booze over family.  He makes a conscious decision to continue drinking that, despite his tear-drenched confessions, is the equivalent of choosing to destroy his family.

The liberal is doing the very same thing.  The quest for ‘equality’ being taken from equal opportunity to equal results IS destroying our country economically.  Read Marx.  Marx was a very very intelligent and insightful man.  He has it mapped out perfectly how capitalism will eventually succumb to what he might have  considered ‘Utopia’ but in the real world is a lot more like ‘mob rule’.

So, liberals do not have ‘Destroy America’ in those terms as #1 on their to-do list but the things on their list (1. Save the snail darters 2. Equate any combination of loving people as a family 3. Preserve a woman’s right to terminate her pregnancy 4. Understand Islam and embrace it while 5. Demonizing Jewish and Christian heritages as barbaric 6. Pay people to not work 7.  Penalize those who do work 8. Pay more for each child born out of wedlock to a poor mother 9. Support Unions so that U.S. wages creep higher and higher in the world labor market…

All of those things will eventually destroy this nation and each and every one of those things is a conscious decision being made by the average liberal.

Herman Cain is correct.  Anyone who would advocate socialism has to want to destroy America and its economy.  Your feeble attempts to act as though you are Patriotic are feeble and transparent.  This Country became great because of Capitalism and the ingenuity it spawned and encouraged.  All attempts to move to the left where free markets are despised, as well as freedom of thought, is an attempt to change the very fabric and nature of the America. If you seek to change this, you seek to destroy America.  Please…if your hatred of this Country is so great…move overseas!

Capitalism does not guarantee liberty but socialism does guarantee the loss of liberty.  Liberty cannot be enforced.  That would be an oxymoron and not just in the term itself.  Freedom and liberty must allow for failure.  It should be up to the immediate community and family to aid those who cannot achieve in a non-failure-proof free society.  But, the U.S. Government has tried to take on the role of community and family from afar to disastrously inefficient and fraud-ridden results.

Cain has it 100% right.  We need a smaller Federal Government and more empowerment to State of Local governments who are better positioned to solve LOCAL problems.  The Feds make a mess of everything they get their hands on.

Greece…  yea, that’s working out really well these days.  I will agree 100% that the Boxer Revolution and the Bolshevik and Nazi Germany were indeed perversions of Marxist concepts.  However, Marx starts with one given that is NOT known to be a fact…

He starts with the premise that people are basically good.  He may not state it as such (it has been decades since I read Marx), but there is the notion that capitalism will evolve into a system in which all is shared.  They PROBLEM is that, if people are NOT basically good, then production drops off once people realize that there is nothing to be gained from extra work, in fact, nothing really to be gained from working at all except the avoidance of punishment.  So, what happens?  The punishing begins.

BTW, how many boats LEAVING Miami headed for Cuba does the Coast Guard have to deal with?

In case what? Why can’t countries defend themselves? Germany and Japan are more than capable of paying for their own defense. It’s called DEFENSE, not offense, for a reason. How are we defending ourselves by being stationed in Japan, Korea, Germany, and numerous other countries?

By forming trade agreements and military alliances with friendly trade partners, we save hundreds of billions from our annual budget and boost our economy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tony.westover Tony Westover

Actually, yes we are protecting Japan. The peace treaty we negotiated with Japan stripped down their military to the bone, and stripped them of their dignity. And not only do we protect Japan, we paid to rebuild their country when they were the aggressive belligerents. No wonder Japan enjoyed economic prosperity after WWII, they didn’t have to pay to rebuild their country and their military budget looks like an invoice sheet at some backwoods Arby’s.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tony.westover Tony Westover

Progressives are much bigger warmongers than paleo or neo conservatives. Obama has kept us in Iraq and Afghanistan and he’s put us in new theaters of war.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tony.westover Tony Westover

For some reason Progressives conveniently like to forget that Progressives got us into the four wars that have created this massive military network and the military industrial complex: World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

No matter how much you guys like to revise history, you can’t erase that from your record.

  • Keni

Straw man arguement? That is not true. First our country has the most regulation than any other in the world. Not only from the countless enviornmental regulations, but safety, and even Equal opertunity employment. I am not saying regulation is a bad thing, but its gotten over used. Now we have liberals banning happy meals in SF… And pets… and the list is endless… This is the trap.
Due to these regulations, adding union demands on livng wages, which in turn brings up the price in goods that are produced does not work well either. We end up as a nation wanting to spend less by going to wal-mart anyway to buy things from China because they are cheaper. Thats how it works. The cost of doing business here in the states makes it very difficult to turn a profit for the share holders. In turn they do move over sea’s…. That is the reality. To demionize and demand they stay here, then do your part and shop on Main streat, not walmart… Until then deal with it whiners….Or make the environemtn more friendly… OWS is a great example of cluless people wanting to tear down a system that frnakly everyone is responsible for, but mostly and above all 1600 PA Ave.

Got figures to back that up? I mean figures on the size of the Japan Defense Force today?
    Japan can defend itself.
Of course we cut their military to the bone back in ’45. But did you know we let them keep soldiers, with weapons, in Vietnam because we thought Vietnam needed their policing?
The fact that we have forces in Japan means that they can respond to problems outside of Japan.
As for their dignity, they got it back.
Backwoods Arby’s? Have you looked at it? Japan’s military capability?

Socialism and Marxism are as different as night and day. I know Greece isn’t working out because of socialism, but again, I am pointing out that it is bad economics, not oppression that is wrong with socialism. The current European socialism is what you are being told takes away liberties. It does not. England was very socialized and nobody was oppressed. Reducing the socialism improved the economy.

It’s called Wikipedia, which isn’t always a complete piece of propagandist trash: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_Self-Defense_Forces

Their entire military doesn’t even number a quarter million people. Their entire defense budget is only $51 billion because it is required by law to be only 1% of GDP. And with this yes, they are capable of defending themselves. With only 1% of our GDP we should be able to defend ourselves.

And if we’re worried about North Korea, which we shouldn’t be, then we should depend on our military alliance with Japan and other neighboring countries and our trade relations (or rather, our food aid) with North Korea to keep us safe.

They want to fundamentally change our economy, to do that, they must destroy it first.  Hence we see the modern day Democrat Party, socialists, Communist and Nazi party all throwing in with the occupy protests.  How else do you interpret a movement that seeks to destroy capitalism if not one that seeks to also destroy our economy.

This man is clearly unfit for the job of President of the US. He does not see the failed fiscal catastrophy that the republican party has wrought. the last Democratic President-Bill Clinton led the way and the middle class thrived while the budget ran a surplus. The republicans did their best to bring this nation to its knees. TRICKLE DOWN was and is a lie padded with false promises of prosperity for all-FAILED. The repeal of GLASS-Stiegel was a disaster promoted by the repugs to FREE up WALL STREET to make money. And even Alan Greenspan said he was surprised at the amount of greed and corruption that was unleashed. SELF REGULATION does not work-FAILED. Giving big tax cuts to millionaires would create jobs-FAILED. Look. I’m saying we are not in Japan to defend Japan. We agreed on that. In fact, I was saying Japan has enough to defend itself, even with the little it has got. Why? Because Japan is not threatened. South Korea is threatened, seriously. Those guys in the north are crazy. Also, the South would attack the North is we pulled out of the region. You know. Bush style preemptive strike. All Koreans are crazy that way.
Also, there is Taiwan, which is threatened by China, but you ignore.
From the very start of this conversation, I said we do need to pull more of our forces out of there, but there is a reason for being there beyond Japan.

    We have all

they say this is; Babies are new and innocent, they haven’t had time to be
contaminated by their environment. Herman Cain has been around a long, long
time, infect too long, he has been around long enough to have been
indoctrinated by, oh; you name it, because Herman has been everywhere,
otherwise where else would he have picked up that statement about, “THE
GOAL OF LIBERALS IS TO ECONOMICALLY DESTROY THE UNITES STATES. It doesn’t seem
like that to me, to me It sounds like Herman Cain opens mouth and inserts foot
instead of saying something new like “here is a way we can get our leaders
together and put everyone back to work and pay wages which will keep our
economy going for our children and grand children, that is what people want to

This commentery is an example of that.  Liberals are very out spoken on what they think is right for America. They use rethoric and critize to the max.  Liberals are noted for “anything goes” as long as it agrees with them.  Example:  If they truly know that Obama is not being honest, is using the most money, is not addressing congress properly..etc. etc. they will still defend him not matter what. Obama being a Liberal is all they will identify with.

I find it hella amusing that when someone runs down the accurate history of this country, the default response from the right is that the person must hate Amerika.  Why is that?  Its not like Rev. Wright lied aobut what this country has done to a certain demographic of its own people, not to mention what it has done to the world at large while in thrall to predatory capitlaism.  What did Wright say that wasn’t true?

  • Anonymous

  • http://www.facebook.com/tony.westover Tony Westover

    *LOL*

Your attempts to revise history are amusing.

Woodrow Wilson got us involved in World War I. We were sending munitions to England on civilian ships and we supported England’s blockade of Germany. We had no vested interest in that war and needlessly lost lives because of Progressive warmongering.

Yes, Japan attacked us, and somehow we ended up invading the beaches of Normandy across the friggin’ globe in the largest and most deadly amphibious assault in human history. Great job FDR, you need a war to serve as foil for domestic Socialist policies to drag us out of the depression that he needlessly prolonged.

I don’t care who invaded who in Korea. I care that the United Nations declared war on North Korea and pulled us into it. Yet again, Progressive warmongering of the global Socialist flavor this time around.

Oh, and what about your revisionist history for Vietnam? *LOL* You didn’t even try that one, since despite your best efforts you couldn’t revise that Progressive warmonger LBJ needlessly pulled us into that war and the resulting utter humiliation. The draft was a nice touch, too.

And this was without a doubt the stupidest thing I’ve heard read on Mediaite:

“You confuse the coincidence that Liberals are popular enough to be
elected more often than Conservatives with the timing of other nations’
    aggression.”

*LOL* People elect Progressives, and then they START wars! And I love your stupid logic that somehow Germany was “aggressive” towards us when we support England’s blockade on them and we were running their blockades with weapons for England; and your stupid logic that Germany was “aggressive” towards us when Japan attacked us; and that North Korea was “aggressive” towards us when we invaded them; and that Vietnam was “aggressive” toward us when we unsuccessfully attempted to invade them.

  • Anonymous

Your twists to history are worse than mine.

I am neutral about WW I. I am not neutral about WW II. We were attacked, and Hitler declared war on us the next day (or was it the same day?)

Would you say we should not have reacted to Japan’s attack?

I am also not neutral about the Korean war.
We occupied South Korea at the end of WW II, having kicked the Japanese out,  and trained South Korea to protect itself. We had a minimal force of TRAINERS there. The North did invade. Period.

You do not care because that does not fit your picture of the world.

As for Vietnam, I am with you on that one to the extent that we, the US, were foolishly trying to stop communism from spreading. It spread that much more anyway.

It was economics that destroyed communism, not bullets, but if we had not placed a blocking force in Europe, communism would have spread that much more. You cannot stop tanks with politics.

Economics would also destroy pure socialism.
Nothing pure exists in this world, and that includes the purity of the idea that only liberals start wars.

What in your view is warmongering about liberal doctrine? Is it the Bush Doctrine that America could bring democracy by force?

Oh. And I see that you fear the United Nations. Enjoy that. Wallow in that fear.

And who has told Obama that he dare not pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan? Every leading Republican but Romney, because nobody asked Romney and he is smart enough to avoid the subject.

Every Republican has said “Listen to the Generals.” The Commander in Chief gives orders to the generals, not the other way around. Who was in charge when we invaded Iraq for no reason? Republicans! neo-conservative Republicans.

You really are being intentionally blind when you ignore the history of the last decade and decide who started the wars of the last century based on who was president at what time.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tony.westover Tony Westover

Correct, and now the Commander in Chief is a Progressive Socialist who has invaded Pakistan, Yemen, Libya, and now Uganda all the while keeping us in Iraq and Afghanistan.
