It’s Gotta Be The Shoes: Astounding Footage Of Indianapolis Air Jordan Stampede

video

Air Jordan fever has swept the nation, as frenzied shoppers pushed their way into their local malls to get their hands on re-issued Nike Concords. We reported on Air Jordan arrests in Atlanta earlier, but perhaps the most insane footage of today’s sneaker assault comes from Indianapolis, where doors were snapped off and a full-blown stampede broke out with people actually being trampled on the way into the store.

RELATED: Several Arrested After Mad Rush For Nike Air Jordan Concords

According to NBC 13 in Indianapolis:

Extra police were called to Lafayette Square and Washington Square Malls Friday morning to deal with crowds that turned out for the launch of Nike sneakers.

It was shoulder to shoulder shortly after midnight as people lined up at Lafayette Square. There were so many people that extra police were called in to area malls, all for the release of the Air Jordan 11 and the Air Jordan Retro Concord.

(…)

“We got the 11s, the Concords,” said one breathless shopper.

“When we went in we were getting pushed and tripping over everything,” said another person caught up in the rush.

A child fell as people pushed through the doors at Lafayette Square Mall. However, Indianapolis Metro Police said no injuries were reported.

“However, Indianapolis Metro Police said no injuries were reported.”

Injury free trampling!  Maybe this isn’t as big a bed-wetter as you’d like to pretend.

Fox never seems to miss a story about black people doing bad things. I wonder why….

  • Anonymous

Which is worse: the pathetic nature of these people behaving this way over a pair of shoes or the company that makes, markets and knowingly targets this very group or the sports franchises that deify players who then wield svengali-like power over their fans.  Shared responsibility perhaps?

  • Anonymous

Somebody has to report newsworthy items regardless of their race, since we know ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN willfully ignore any stories about black people doing bad things.  I wonder why…

  • Anonymous

Did they mention a single black customer?  Even the person they interviewed appeared to me to be hispanic – but maybe you are wearing different colored glasses than I.

  • http://rightnetwork.com Jack Reno

Strange that SSDeez picks up so readily at the uncomfortable cultural truth of those yearning to get these useless chunks of crap made by Nike.

  • Moderate

“A child fell as people pushed through the doors at Lafayette Square Mall. ”

Wild unruly kids destroyed the Lafayette Square Mall a long time ago.

  • OSTL

looks the video from “cobras” last family reunion…LOL!

  • OSTL

you didn’t expect the good rev sharpton to “report” on this, didja?

  • OSTL

should we take cars away from people so they can’t crash, too? tool

  • Anonymous

Did FOX ever mention race in this report? You are the only one viewing this in terms of skin color. Why do liberals act like it’s illegal to criticize blacks for doing stupid things?

  • Anonymous

I didn’t even know there were still stores at Lafayette Square.  I remember going there while in high school (mid-90′s) and half the lots were empty.  A buddy of mine worked at an auto mechanic shop in that area, and would hear gunshots daily.  I guess Nike was just releasing a new pair of Jordans every day.

  • Jay Surratt

SSDeez…you would prefer no story at all so none will see how your “peoples” ALWAYS behave.

Unfortunately because there are so many. its easy to fill your news hour and the audience enjoys watching the confirmation of what they already believe

Hey everyone! Notice a ‘sameness’ about everyone goin’ after dose shoos? Maybe OBAMO’s ‘stash’ has more!

  • Joke Scareborough

Wait until Nike comes out with their “Air Obama” sneakers!

  • Joke Scareborough

$180.00 dollars for a pair of sneakers?
You watch, next we’ll be hearing stories about kids getting curb stomped while wearing them because someone else wanted a pair. I bet they’ll even be murders over them.

  • Anonymous

    Saw it on CNN…

  • Anonymous

Wow…an unruly black flash mob storming a mall in a lawless manner.
    You almost never see that.

  • Anonymous

Truly pathetic.  But funny nonetheless is watching most of the males holding up their pants.  Priceless fodder for Faux News.

  • Anonymous

Unbridled Capitalism – like Nike cares.

Did notice, unlike those Black Friday Wal-Mart stampedes in which all races are very well represented.  Thank God no white people were hurt.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

for all the people looking down on these people (of all creeds) waiting in line for a pair of $180 shoes should remember the times they waited in line all night for Halo 3, the latest Potter or Twilight book (or film), tickets to some concert or sporting event, or what ever piece of electronics that Apple put out.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

Phil Knight is such a huge job creator… in sweatshops using slave or youth labor in third world countries.  Those shoes cost $4 dollars to make, $50 per shoe to market and license, leaving $127 of profit margin.

    Trickles down don’t it.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

Used to work around the area…

You don’t know many Hispanics do you?

  • Just some Blow Hard…

    Also, hey mediaite…

While you linked a report to WTHR in Indianapolis that mentions the stampede, there is no video in the video you posted from Indianapolis.  There is Georgia and California.  Last I checked, they will not be confused with the Hoosier State.

  • Anonymous

Do you think the guy who licked the shoe votes in elections?

  • OSTL

they fought for twilight books and tickets?

  • Anonymous

Some of us don’t do any of that stuff, and we’re appalled at the level of animal behavior this shows.  Wait until the stores run out of food…

  • OSTL

didn’t dare venture “In” the area, huh?

  • Anonymous

Yup, they all couldn’t run without hitching up.  Kinda hard to run with both hands grabbing at your saggy pants.

  • Anonymous

There was about an 8 year old girl in one of the videos that got knocked down.  What kind of parent brings a kid to this scene, what kind of parent leaves infants in a car to go to this, what kind of people are these?  Insanity alone doesn’t explain it.  And yeah, the shootings over the shoes will commence in 3, 2, 1….

If only Darwin could see this.

    Yea, that would be NEVER.

  • http://twitter.com/RabbleRealist A Rabble Realist

Videos like this remind me why I just can’t get into the whole “we are the 99%” crap.  I am in no way in any group that accepts people like that.

This reminds of that one time, when all those white people broke down the doors to get their hands on that Pat Boone album.  Remember that?

    Yeah, me neither.

It refers to an economic class not a race.  Educate yourself…

Again, you are the only one looking at this in terms of race and automatically assuming FOX has racist intentions.

Is it that hard to believe that the majority of people lining up to get this shoe may have simply been African-American?

It’s a freaking pair of athletic shoes, people…

People acting stupid.  And I’ll betcha if you asked them about this behavior, they’d explain it away as competing for something ‘important’.

Not a brain cell to rub together, that bunch.

    They didn’t ignore this one.
I wonder why you said they did.

Very embarassing…especially if you are black, seeing that. Talk about re-defining a stereotype.

Yes sadly he does, and people like him who would literally lick Obama’s shoes are those who make up the 97% of us that gave Obama what is known as the “Black Vote”.

How many of these shallow, uncivilized “shoppers” are out buying $180 sneakers – while taking home (Democratic) WELFARE CHECKS?

How many have fatherless children? – 70% in the black community!
…and therein lies the single problem that spawns all others!

Are we into comparing riots now??? Well, throw in Rodney King, Watts, Miami, and MLKing riots… for those of you keeping count.

I noticed, ironically, that most of them are black….which in turn….labels most of them as liberal maniacs.
Y’all need to get a grip.
    Fighting over shoes….LOL!!!

Anybody remember those T-shirts in the 70′s that some African-Americans wore that simply said:

“It’s a Black thing, and you wouldn’t understand it!”

Well, maybe this shoe thing is, and, they were right, I don’t understand it.

  • Anonymous

Hold on!  ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, MSNBC are all about to do a story of this topic.

After a long search, they’ve found one white guy who bought a pair of these shoes!

He’ll be featured in their story soon!

Would these be the same people complaining about income inequality and how since they are so poor and deprived, they need more taxpayer handouts to live a comfortable American life?

  • Anonymous

Face it, this kind of crap only happens by blacks, with a wigger or two thrown in.

  • Anonymous

What kind of mindless POS people would get worked up over totally worn out sneaker hype from 90s? This is so sad.

  • http://twitter.com/RabbleRealist A Rabble Realist

If we count them as an “economic class” then we must also include monkeys, raccoons, lions, tigers, and bears in the 99% economic class too.

  • http://twitter.com/RabbleRealist A Rabble Realist

I understand your argument but it fails miserably. Just like when Maddow was interviewing a city council person in Pittsburgh and they were both wondering why the state legislature wouldn’t pass gun laws that would prevent guns from getting in the hands of people in the neighborhood who couldn’t stop shooting at each other. You could give me a bazooka and AK-47 and I would NEVER start shooting at my neighbors and people walking by.  It’s not the guns and it’s not the shoes, it’s the people.  They are unevolved animals. Sorry but actions speak louder than words and I’m tired of pretending that the truth is a lie.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

No but compare this with the story about an iphone or ipad being released and people lining up to get that.  Even with out the violence there is an underlying condescending tone.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

Research the Who concert in Cincinnati or try wearing a Cowboys jersey to a Eagles home game.

  • Just some Blow Hard…

    at all?

  • http://www.google.com Doodaddio

Proof is in the reading – no where did he say “they” did, what he wrote is this: “…we know ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN willfully ignore…”, which indicates they have a pattern of behavior when stories like this come up. So your saying, “They didn’t ignore this one. I wonder why you said they did.”, is making something of bdob’s remarks which clearly isn’t true.

I wonder why you said he did?

  • http://www.google.com Doodaddio

Your comment, “Wild unruly kids destroyed the Lafayette Square Mall a long time ago.”, reminds me of what I have seen in Shreveport, LA and Rochester, NY, where gangs ran off the customers in malls and forced them to close because no one would shop there anymore. No customers, no stores.

Why is this allowed to happen in a modern day American city? The police seemed to be unable to stop the harassment of the customers, so what choice did they have?

Another thing in America that doesn’t get reported because it is worse to hurt someone’s feelings that to tell the truth – even though people are getting physically assaulted.

He said, “since we know ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN willfully ignore any stories about black people doing bad things”
We don’t know any such thing, It was some snotty wrong-wing smear, and nothing more.
And just because someone says something, it doesn’t indicate any pattern. Or anything else, other than his state of mind. Which appears to be, as with many others here, eager to dump on the black people who are acting foolishly, by making all sorts of unwarranted assumptions about them all in general, and pretty much revealing the racism resting not at all beneath the surface. As if they finally found the excuse they were seeking in order to justify it, and get all self-righteous, on top of it all.
In the true spirit of Christmas.
And I saw this story on several networks, so whatever point he thinks he’s making about the msm, he didn’t.
And I remember middle-aged white women, waiting out in the winter cold all night, in order to get a signed copy of a book by Sarah Palin.
No less stupid. And I’m guessing that they’re viewing those black kids and clucking about it like these people here are.
Hey, if it wasn’t for hypocrisy, what would you have to do?

  • http://profiles.google.com/lblucher13 Larry Blucher

If only those people would get as worked up over constitutional violations and our disappearing civil liberties this country would be in much better shape. The government is certainly happy they’re focused on shoes. Hmm, it’s the government that failed to properly educate them. Maybe that explains it.

  • http://www.google.com Doodaddio

Your selective cherry picking of memories of what you think are equivalent to this situation is laughable. For example, the “middle-aged white women, waiting out in the winter cold all night, in order to get a signed copy of a book by Sarah Palin”, were not breaking down doors, trampling people and engaging in fisticuffs to get that book – these people you are so ready to support, regardless of race, are violent animals who take from others what they want and are not afraid to hurt others to get it. This hardly compares with the examples you gave like people waiting in line – PEACEFULLY – to get a book or and I-Phone or I-Pad as you said earlier.

The person I quoted was right and I stand by them and my statement. Nothing self righteous about it, you are a fool. The video tells the story, and since it was surveillance camera footage you can’t cry foul that it was manipulated to make these criminals look bad. The fact is this is an insane reaction for a pair of shoes.

Even a dolt like you should be able to see that.

Is this the standard of behavior you are condoning and you find acceptable then you have more problems than I can tell you. That is plain criminal behavior and anyone with a rational brain can see that.

  • Anonymous

In the spirit of Christmas, let’s clear up a few things:

People referred to as “African-Americans” could not – at least the majority of them, who dropped out of an already failed, unionized ‘education system’ – point out Africa on the globe.

People who are referred to as “Hispanics” are anything but. For the factually challenged, HISPANIA is the Latin word for Spain, which is definitely and undeniably a country populated by people of the Caucasian persuation. Hispanics in North America are deformed Mayas and Aztecs who respected and loved their history and language so much that they decided to speak a contrived version of Spanish. The words “Latino/Latina” are similarly highjacked to have no meaning at all.

Which brings the questions: Why are $180.00 shoes important enough to fight over? Why these same shoes – made in China -  better than shoes made in America? If they were called “Air Bird” or “Air Yao” would they be held in such high esteem by the same Grade 6 dropouts? If these same oppressed and exploited victims of white capitalism can afford $180.00 for a pair of shoes, how come they need food stamps, paid for by white folks?

You are right, of course.  I apologize to all the lovely wonderful animals in the world, and I’m truly sorry for all the trouble the humans have caused.  Kinda makes you wonder what all the gods that supposedly created us were thinking.  Obviously, there’s a design flaw here somewhere.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=505334045 Jason K Dobbs

Or what about black people need to stop doing bad things. Why is it so easy to ignore the obvious? You skirt the issue of terrible behavior to blame the people pointing out the foolishness. A better stance would be to ask why are these individuals conducting themselves in this matter. Oh im black also and i have never been in trouble, following rules is a very simple thing to do. Then again blaming others for your own behavior is simple also so i guess it comes down to character in which path you will follow.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=505334045 Jason K Dobbs

You are absolutely correct Nancy and the worse part about it is that someone would demonize you for telling the truth. Its a shame how useless citizens have been receiving a free ride just so scoundrel politicians can keep being voted into office by these same dissidents.
