Rachel,you don’t get it.Leno is a comedian.so is Letterman.they did this because it was a great fun joke that would bring the exact reactions it brought,nothing more or less.These two guys are career comedians,it is their lives,their single most important motivation,the laugh.

You are a journalist.Your drive to bring the public news and information,to be the one that delivers the biggest scoop,the most important of all stories is the same type of drive as Leno and Letterman’s.

My disappointment is in Dave right now.Unlike Jay he said next to nothing on his show about the spot.Dave needs to be slightly human and acknowledge this as Jay did but he chose to shrug it off and that’s unfortunate.Frankly he made me look forward to Jay’s return.

I like both as hosts and usually decide to watch the show with guests I most want to see but Dave can come across as mean or cold sometimes and that get’s a bit old.

Or – OR – maybe he thought it was funny! You know, like all the “real” news stories have said! Seriously, the first Dave/Oprah spot should have taught all of us that nothing’s impossible.

Now Jay Leno owes Letterman. And that’s the only reason I can think of for Letterman to have done this.
