Actually, Herr Autobahn, the Berlin Airlift and the Marshall Plan were the high water mark for American foreign policy. Not just empathy, but also tangible assistance …. Prudent investments, as well. The low water mark was the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq. We are recovering somewhat from the brush with which we were generously and fairly tarred, but I don’t think we’ll be back in the saddle again for a generation.
