Maddow Responds To Cal Thomas: I’m Glad You Were Born. Otherwise, Who’d Give The ‘Fox News Bat Signal’?

Video

Regular readers will recall that, yesterday, conservative commentator Cal Thomas quipped to his fellow CPAC panelists that MSNBC host Rachel Maddow (who has said that the Republican party is “waging war” on contraception) is “the best argument in favor of her parents using contraception.”

Last night, Maddow responded.

RELATED: At CPAC: Conservative Columnist Cal Thomas Says Rachel Maddow Is ‘Best Argument’ For Contraception

“Mr. Fox News Person speaking there,” she said, “I am sorry that you feel that way about me and that you wish I had never been born. Personally, I’m glad that you were born. Otherwise how would Republicans get the special Fox News bat signal that it’s time to be outraged now about what used to be Republicans’ own policy idea?”

Earlier on in her show, Maddow had brought up the fact that the Obama administration’s rules regarding a birth control mandate are “precisely what had been proposed by Olympia Snow and other Republicans in 2001, but yet they are being denounced as some sort of liberal abomination.”

That’s how comedy is done, conservatives.

    To paraphrase Rooster Cogburn:
If I ever met a Republican who told a joke I’ve haven’t heard a thousand times before, I think I’d shake his hand and buy him a Daniel Webster cigar.

This moment of Wack-0-Lib idiocy brought to you by Rachel’s pro-life mother.

And this woman is supposed to hold a PHd in something.  Certainly not communications.

    Rachel.  Smart and gorgeous.

    Does Rachel have any children??

Look i consider myself an extreme right wing Christian conservative. ( Just view my post)

But what that clown did at CPAC yesterday was unwittingly undermine our argument that all life is precious especially the unborn. True pro-lifers like me would never suggest that someone should have killed their own child. Because they don’t share common beliefs with me. Then the crowd of idiots just cheered at the recommendation that someone should’ve had an abortion, while claiming to be pro-life.

Basically what that Dipstick said was:  Hey I’m far to stupid to intellectually respond to the question i was asked, so instead i will just say i wish she was never born.  Good Job Asshole!!!

You got her hair style now thats wacked-out

  • Tucsonense

Hasn’t CPAC turned into 1 big clown show withall the conservatives trying to one up each other by saying the most idiotic things????? Just asking!!!

Someone like this guy I always want to ask” Is hypocrisy a sin”?

I am pro-life also, and I agree with you.  What in the world has happened to the Christian community that approves this mode of thinking?  It needs to stop, or we need different spokesman.

  • WiddleBabyDanielson

Cal Thomas is America’s most widely syndicated op-ed columnist, appearing in more than 500 national newspapers.

Thomas joined Fox News as a political contributor in 1997. He is a panelist on Fox News Watch, a Fox News Channel program criticizing the media, and until September 2005 hosted After Hours with Cal Thomas on the same network. He also gives a daily radio commentary, which is heard on more than 300 stations.

Wait, now you lefties can’t take a joke?……OH it’s only funny when it comes out  the a#$/mouth of a leftie, I get it.

  • Anonymous

I thought that Police Commissioner Gordon gave the bat signal!  Rachel needs to spend more time reading comic books!

  • Hout Bosques

He used to be on a lot more, but still shows up fairly regularly, certainly more than Palin & Trump combined. It’s just that his star, such as it was, has faded as his wattles have increased & his hair-dye bills have soared. When Ailes decided to invest more heavily into young blond chicky-poos with big hair & long legs in order to attract a younger demo, it meant less on-screen face time for bile-spewing oldies like Thomas.

Fun fact: Thomas is to “ignorant asshole” what Santorum is to lube & organic substances combos, Google-wise. Say what you will about what Savage did to “santorum”, there’s nothing in there that attacks former Santorum’s knowledge or intelligence; & say what you want about Google-bombing did attack Thomas’ lack of knowledge, there’s no mention of lubricants. But consider what you get when you COMBINE the two: C-PAC.

Fun fact: Thomas is to “ignorant asshole”

You sound just like one of those, skippy.

  • Anonymous

    Who watches her show?

I know She is the one who makes up almost every story with no facts just stuff her or her producer reads online. I guess its also the same as getting your news from the comedy central channel as most left wing people do!

  • Anonymous

lol, I think I tuned in to that show once, for about 10-seconds.

I see that you are quite a joke. That’s how comedy is done liberals!

     You certainly don’t.

  • Anonymous

You mean Mr. Maddow. And her comment was utterly childish- I guess that’s why you found it funny.

  • South Park Conservatives

I don’t like this guy. He’s so rude!!!!

  • Anonymous

Thanks. While I likely disagree with you about what contraception means in terms of the unborn, I can respect the fact that you’re saying something logically consistent. The disconnect between what is in religious teachings and how “religious” politicians and pundits act is frustrating, especially when their political rhetoric draws applause.

  • Anonymous

I noticed no one is laughing. Try another funny one, Ted. How about “I know you are but what am I?”

  • Anonymous

But, the righties are sure afraid of her.  No facts?  I think you mean FOX and Friends, or for that matter all of FOX.

  • Jay Stone

Did you even read what you wrote?…lol…you need to get out more? What? You meant to say ”you need to be a shut in like me…I’m always indoors on a Saturday  afternoon …faithfully following Fox News”

    Nope. Relevance?

    Rachel, Good Comeback!!

  • Verreauxii

Well stated. It undermines his own argument. I am sure most conservatives do not agree with that flippant comment.

  • sid_id

I probably would have left out clown, idiots, dipstick and asshole, but yeah your’re exactly right. Abortion is wrong no matter if you like the person or not. I hate to quote bumper sticker slogans here, but one of my favorite is: CHOOSE LIFE — YOUR MOTHER DID!

That would be dumber than a fence post.

Why are rebuliklans outraged now and not in 2001,when this was your policy? Not one of you hypocrites answered miss Maddow’s question. It’s always a great idea until Obama wants it,then it’s oh my god evil.If you think this ploy will win an election, you are sadly mistaken.

Game, Set and Match – Maddow! ;)

As usual, Rachel hits the nail on the head.

The last 3 years have been nothing BUT that…. Republicans being “outraged” about stuff they used to be for.

  • Anonymous

What do these things have in common?

    -Healthcare mandate
    -Cap and Trade
    -Comprehensive immigration reform
    -having health insurance cover contraceptives
    -The wall street bailout
    -The Dream Act

You guessed it:  stuff most Republicans used to be in favor of as recently as 3 years ago.

Precisely why tea party candidates kicked their asses and yours in 2010
    You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet!!

  • AIiveStiIIKickin

See my other comment to you on this same matter….loser

  • Anonymous

Actually, I think this demonstrates why Obama will get re-elected in 2012.  Mark my words.

In 2010, the media was basically drawn into covering the far-right’s collective temper tantrum and freak out.

But this time around, the mood is different and I think the public is catching on to the GOP’s unprincipled knee-jerk partisanship on this stuff.

The public will forgive you for a few flip flops….but today’s GOP has basically flip-flopped on EVERY issue that isn’t gay marriage, gun control, or abortion.

The GOP as a whole is no better than Mitt Romney when it comes to flip-flopping and Obama is calling out their shit.

The party as a whole can’t figure out what it stands for anymore.  They push this vague idea of “limited government”…but they can’t seem to agree on what that means.

Try again in 2016 when y’all can get your shit together.

You should have been aborted but you were saved by using that phony name you use to post ignorant comments.

The best part of Cal Thomas ran down his old man’s leg!!

  • Anonymous

She masquerades as a thinking woman which she obviously, isn’t, while relying on her “cutes.”

  • Anonymous

Wow..can’t get much lower than that. Funny, you calling someone ignorant after making a comment like that. Good example of Republican thinking. Don’t agree with you so you should have never been born. Sad.

  • Tan

Ding ding ding! Yes, exactly. Notice the usual far righties aren’t agreeing with you? Hey, I disagree with you on probably everything but I appreciate intellectual honesty and non-hypocrisy.

The hypocrisy by so many pro lifers is much of the reason pro choice people are repulsed by them.

  • Tan

    Lolz.

  • Tan

It’s called having a sense of humour? As in, when something is humorous we laugh. When something is not funny we laugh at the ‘joke’ teller. Try to keep up. I know conservatives generally struggle with sense of humour but you’re just making it embarrassing now. What sort of hurrr-durrr drooling sea scallop IQ level hypocrite would find that funny?

This is why conservative ‘humour’ always fails. Hard! When you try to be funny it’s 100% of the time just awful, embarrassing and always mean spirited and generally cruel too. Stick to unintentional comedy, just being yourself. That’s the closest you’ll get to a laugh from anyone.

  • Tan

    Tina; you boggle my mind.

Sometimes I’m pretty certain you come up with comments by drawing random letters out of your scrabble bag my dear. I cannot think of a more plausible excuse!

  • Anonymous

Seriously, gordon, I have been reading Cal, seem like, forever. He was not always this way. Seeing him up there, all smug and un-christian-like, was like seeing Julie Andrews bare her breasts in SOB.

  • Anonymous

As for hiding behind a facade, yep, you are more credible than I, my friend. I am merely a passing wind.

  • Anonymous

Ever hear of the Algonquin Roundtable? (You could look it up.) There is a form of reply communication known as biting wit. She is good at it.

  • Anonymous

Perhaps it isn’t hate. Perhaps it is shining a light on Palin’s caustic rhetoric and “mean girl” ways, and never knowing that the buck stops there. She whines about “gotcha” media questions but expects a pass for her own snark. Example: what’s a neighborhood organizer?

  • Anonymous

Note that “limited government” means avoiding pushing any ideology.
So, the supreme court is interfering when it expands the law (corporate personhood), just as much as legislation to regulate behavior is interfering.
Too bad one side imagines it has a patent on the idea and can’t recognize it as a nonpartisan. (No, don’t correct me to say “bi-partisan”–the constitution did not ordain the two-party system! It just seems to suit a sports-happy people).

  • Anonymous

Gordon, why should someone have been aborted for having an opinion? Why so much hate bud?

  • Anonymous

Be careful!  Cal is another rat-wing Man Of God.  A great friend & worshiper of Jerry Falwell.  Who is currently scrubbing toilets in Hell.  Praise Geesussah!

She’s using Olympia Snowe as a benchmark of what conservatives support! I had to ROTFL at that. Is she completely clueless as to how we regard Snowe? Oh, sure, the only “Republican” Senator who would have voted for Obamacare is so conservative!
Maddow thinks she’s smart, but she’s actually an idiot. She’s picture proof just having a fancy degree doesn’t automatically make you smart.
