Marc Lamont Hill: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Is Too Fat To Be President

video

As New Jersey Governor Chris Christie‘s place in the national political conversation as grown in scale, so too to have both the plaudits and the critiques. This weekend during an appearance on Meet the Press David Gregory pressed the NJ Governor on any presidential plans (which he denied vociferously.) On the other side of the equation is Marc Lamont Hill who recently said “he’s too fat to be president.”

During an appearance on MyFoxPhilly, Hill dropped some tough words on Christie’s portly size and how it may inhibit his future White House Plans. According to WTXF-TV:

Hill is a political analyst and he thinks Christie will need to make some lifestyle changes if he really wants to be president.

“The first thing people do before they run is say, ‘I’m not going to run,” Hill said. “Obama did the same exact thing.”

Hill says Christie will have a long road to get to the White House, and part of Christie’s issue is his body weight.

“He can’t win, let’s be honest,” Hill said. “I’m going to say this and don’t get mad – he’s fat.”

“He’s fat for a politician. He doesn’t have the body type to win. There are other issues – look at that,” Hill said as he looked at an image of Christie.

marc lamont hill what a shallow mind you have, and he is a liberal, unreal

  • ondrock

Yeah…He’s too fat. Is that anything like being too black? Or too female…..what a hypocrite.

  • skyfet

That’s just cruel, below the belt. Well it might inspire him to loose weight, and he can loose some by whilst campaigning up and down the country.

  • Tricky

    Yep, he is a Fatty.

  • skyfet

    @ondrock
Sorry to bust your bubble, but black people cant change the colour of their skin nor can women change their sex. Well, unless you get a lame sex change lol.

  • Penguin60

Too fat or x pack a day smoker, wonder if he commented about that?

I love Marc Lamont Hill, and knowing his sense of humor (he’s one of my Red Eye favorites) I think he was mostly joking. As to the substance of his weighty charge, the same thing was said when he ran in NJ, and he handled it beautifully. I still think he won the election the day he spent on Imus, made fun of his own weight, and then said that if Corzine wants to make an issue of it, he should at least be a man about it.

Chris Christie is the anti-Obama, substantively, stylistically, and, yes, in terms of body type. Quite frankly, I think that in 2012 and 2016 being the anti-Obama will be seen as virtue. That having been said, I take Christie at his word when he says he’s not running in 2012. He will be on the short list for VP, but I think Marco Rubio has that position locked for the Republicans.

    There is truth in this.

“Marc Lamont Hill: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Is Too Fat To Be President”

…That’s pretty much the most “intelligent” comment one can every get from a lunatic-left d-crat socialist..

  • hanniballa

This is just Corzine’s weak ad-hominem attack being recycled. this attack didn’t work for Corzine(don’t see him around any more). Dismiss Chris Christie at your own peril Democrats.

  • Cancon2

    Queue the outrage!!!

Now, if we insert Elana Kagan, same words, holy Crap, the world would come down on his head.

  • Sanjay

I’m a fan of Christie, but Hill has a legitimate point. Because, sadly, physical characteristics often do play a part in a candidate’s electability. For example, I don’t think there would be a chance in hell that any candidate sporting a moustache or goatee would ever get elected president in this day and age.

  • Dave Richards

Marc Lamont Hill…..just another uneducated liberal

Kagan was dumped on for being ugly. But just like Christie, it didn’t seem to work. These attacks are used on all sides and they don’t carry much weight (No lame ass pun intended).

i guess sanjay, that if we americans are that shallow ,we get exactly what we deserve.

That’s a sobering thought considering that in the Newsweek in October 2008 the Drop Out Governor had more facial hair than Abraham Lincoln.

Taft is rolling in his grave.

Well, not exactly rolling, per se. You know what I mean.

It must be a tough life when misogyny is your best trait.

  • dhg

I’d rather vote for a fat politician than a fat cat politician.

As for Hill,I never listened to him before and now I know why.

Marc Lamont Hill should go back to playing Obamas joker…Just shut up and act like the fool we all know you are…Maybe a song and a jig

Another issue Hill has: You can’t fix stupid.

Chris Christie is the anti-Obama, substantively, stylistically, and, yes, in terms of body type. Quite frankly, I think that in 2012 and 2016 being the anti-Obama will be seen as virtue. That having been said, I take Christie at his word when he says he’s not running in 2012.

Indeed. I love that fat man.

He will be on the short list for VP, but I think Marco Rubio has that position locked for the Republicans.

I wish we’d quit trying to throw our young, restless and newly elected into higher office. That’s how we wound up with President Cipher.

It’s not as if she couldn’t do something about it. Ever heard of electrolysis?

Marc, three words for you: William Howard Taft.

He wasn’t just fat, he was stuck-in-a-bathtub fat.

  • disenlightened

Ahh, the tolerant left. So Hill thinks Christie is too fat, well, maybe Hill’s lips are too big and he’s too hard to see in the dark. Oh, and his butt sticks out.

  • TfT

I like Hill too, he is always an entertaining guest on FNC; although this comment about Cristie’s “fatness” is alarming. Mark usually likes to discuss substance over style, in this case, he went the super duper liberal route and went with style over substance. Pretty out of character for Mark.

He is not a liberal. There are no liberals on fox. Speaking of shallow.. im sure you don’t support sarah palin for her astounding intellect.

Solid comment. Certainly the country would be better off if we could replace Obama tomorrow, however I would prefer that our next President is better prepared for the job.

Correct, there are no liberals anywhere, for that matter. No one is far left enough, or liberal enough. Even Michael Moore is a centrist.

Mr. Christie can lose weight; Mr. Hill cannot lose stupidity.

Kagan was appointed to the Court. She wasn’t elected to public office. Big difference.

Before TV. Doubt he’d get elected today.

Sorry, your comment makes no sense. A few extra .lbs or a pair of sweet muttonchops would have no negative sway on me if I felt the candidate was otherwise qualified. I’d have no problem with it at all.

  • pansycritter

Marc–Obama is too skinny. His brain starved for nutrition for too long and he is beyond hope. We knew he had mental problems, knew he was without hope, now we know why. Perhaps he needs to go on the Twinkie diet.

You gave fools live Marc Lamont Hill some credence. Ignore them or ridicule them and they’ll go away.

  • Michéle

While anyone in politics would have to discuss this, fair or not, we did have in our history President Taft who had to have his bathtub replaced — perhaps they were more forgiving that voter’s felt intellect mattered more than appearance.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dave-Inboca/1829370356 Dave Inboca

Marco Hill is a stupid shallow silly halfwitted libturd! Typical liberal and college professor and idiotic moronic POS! How stuck on stupid can somebody be and still stay on TV. This is what affirmative actin produces and Obama is another example of mixing up substance with silly symbolism.

  • timcajun

When will you people learn, if the tea party says he’s not too fat, then he’s not!

  • CAconservative

This guy has a Doctorate degree? I’ll bet his Doctorate dissertation was on, “personal shallowness”, or “how a product of affirmative action BS’d his way into a Doctorate degree!

  • Snidely

It appears that Mr Hill has not checked the latest statistics on body size lately. While thin may be in on TV and the fashion world, in the real world Governor Christie is definitely mainstream. Besides, after Barak Obama America may be ready for a bowler to replace a round ball guy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Helen-Nordo/100000884291530 Helen Nordo

I believe that many young people themselves, lately, are on the heavy side and if it doesn’t bother them, then why should Hill be so upset..is he so convinced that Obama won because he was “thin”? People are not stupid, he was a better orator than McCain, although McCain is smarter & more experienced. Hill is young and dumb, I’m sorry, To talk like that on numerous talk shows is insulting & demeans him. Naturally it is a plus to be built well but, how often do you see someone with all those attributes? We have had some politicians that were so full of steroids, you’d have to be blind to not notice it, there’s one still hanging around, an ex wrestler that has a frog voice that has been ruined from too many injections. Leave Christie alone..we don’t listen to you Marc..you have plenty to learn..go on a rap show or something, politics is definitely …not your thing!
