Maria Bartiromo made her Fox Business Network debut Monday with her new show Opening Bell, three months after she departed from CNBC, where she had worked for twenty years. And Bartiromo opened up in an interview with the Daily News, saying she wants to have a show that’s accessible to both the “industry people’ and the ordinary folks watching her show. She said, “You don’t want to talk over people’s heads, but you also don’t want to dumb it down.”
Bartiromo explained she wants to give people the “bigger picture” on her show and focus less on short-term issues. In addition to her Fox Business show, Bartiromo will host a business-oriented Sunday show on Fox News, which Bartiromo said was part of the reason she signed on. Getting Bartiromo from CNBC was a big get for Fox Business Network, which launched less than seven years ago. Bartiromo said Fox “made me a great offer” and gave her the chance to help “build a brand.”
Bartiromo opened her show today with a big exclusive: Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, member of the Saudi royal family and powerful businessman, is making an investment in Square, the mobile payment service launched by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey back in 2010.
