Meghan McCain: If We Nominate Gingrich It Is ‘The End Of The Republican Party’

video

On Monday’s Now with Alex Wagner, MSNBC contributor Meghan McCain was beside herself over Republican frontrunner Newt Gingrich‘s physical absence from Iowa, just weeks away from the caucuses, also expressing disgust over his comments on judicial activism. “I can’t handle it!” McCain exclaimed. “As a Republican, this is the end of the Republican Party if we nominate this man.”

McCain was responding to a report that Gingrich was staying home for the holidays, watching his wife play the French horn at a Christmas concert and noted that when her father was campaigning for President, he didn’t take a break.

“That’s the thing I can’t understand, someone on the road –you are on the road! I don’t think we spent Christmases at home. I think I spent Christmas in New Hampshire if I remember correctly,” McCain observed. “It is baffling! Everything he does, it’s like, ‘hit me again, crazy!’ I literally can’t get enough. This judge thing is my new favorite thing. It’s clearly insane. It’s out of a science fiction novel.”

Watch McCain’s jab at Gingrich, that he would spell doom for the Republican Party below via MSNBC:

Her dad losing to Obama was the end of the Republican party. It it wasn’t for the rise of the Tea Party, Republicans would have been in  permanent minority status.

Her insight and opinion is about as usefull as a football bat.  She fits in perfectly on MSNBC.

Hey Newt – it’s over. Go back to frankly and fundamentally selling books.

If we have an election, it’s the end of America.  This country needs a political intervention.  We’re awash in treacherous political, media and corporate slimeballs!

  • Steve P.

With Meghan McCain, and others like her, they get hired and were supposed to just follow their advice? Like they actually know anything about anything? It may be time boys and girls to turn off the press, and stop reading anything about these idiots and thier so-called knowledge and just read the records of those running to make our choices.

Meghan is is a confused rhino borderline libtard…just like her dad!!
Bush, McCain and Rove are the reason for electing the most inexperienced, most incompetent and most rigid ideologue ever to set foot in the WH!!

And how exactly is Meghan McCain the spokeshole for the Republican party?

Meghan “THAT’S SEXISM!” McCain. Hardly a more irrelevant opinion out there in Cable News.

Apparently the Gingrich nomination will cost the Republicans the ‘fat-assed-poor-little-rich-girl MSNBC appointed shill’ demographic which I agree will destroy the very foundations of the GOP.

For Republicans the only thing worse then Obama winning reelection in 2012 is New Gingrich winning in 2012. Man they hate this guy worse then Romney, and that is hard to accomplish!

This makes me think that the Republicans should nominate the Newt. But, maybe have a co-president to make sure he doesn’t go too far. Rep. Kingston is an obvious choice, and while the president and vice-president can’t be residents of the same state, nothing prevents co-presidents from that.

Tell us MSNBC, just what are Meghan’s qualifications to be commenting on the Repub race on national TV?    Is  it her degree in Art History? Or that she voted for John Kerry in 2004? Or is it that she blog she wrote about fashion, music, and pop culture?

I know, she doesn’t have the keen insight into the fundamental issues facing the country in the same manner that the intellectual giants, Palin, Perry, Cain, Limbaugh, Hannity and Da Furher Newt have, so she must be an idiot.  It must be terribly difficult in suppressing any kind of principled analysis of someone’s intelligence based completely in ones ideological leanings, but you seem to be up to the task.

    8.6 % unemployment

Record number in poverty, on welfare, in foreclosure, high gas prices, record debt and record deficits and:

Homeless children at record high in US. Can the trend be reversed?

One out of every 45 children – some 1.6 million – is homeless,
according to a report released Tuesday. That number surpasses the one
set after hurricanes Katrina and Rita.”Yeah, that is certainly a record you Dems can be so, so proud of!

  • Anonymous

wrong guest. I guess you haven’t read the news from NPR:

To put that into perspective, when
President George W. Bush took office, our national debt was $5.768 trillion. By the time Bush left office, it
had nearly doubled, to $10.626 trillion. So Bush’s record on deficit spending
was not good at all: During his presidency, the national debt rose by an
average of $607 billion a year. How does that compare to Obama? During Obama’s
presidency to date, the national debt has risen by an average of $1.723
trillion a year — or by a jaw-dropping $1.116 trillion more, per year, than it
    rose even under Bush.

How do Bush and Obama compare on
closer inspection? Just about like they do on an initial glance. According to
the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, during his eight fiscal
years, Bush ran up a total of $3.283 trillion in deficit spending (p. 22). In his first two fiscal years, Obama will
run up a total of $2.826 trillion in deficit spending ($1.294 trillion in 2010, an estimated $1.267
trillion in 2011 (p. 23), and the $265 billion in
“stimulus” money that was spent in 2009). Thus, Bush ran up an
average of $410 billion in deficit spending per year, while Obama is running up
an average of $1.413 trillion in deficit spending per year — or $1.003 trillion
    a year more than Bush.”

And the “debt” does include the wars – it includes everything, son.

“Terminal stage”  I think not.  The Republican party is in disarray, experiencing growing pains as republican voters try and break away from the republican establishment.  The effect is what you see, a very disorderly electorate not willing to follow established leadership where it wants to lead us.  Even though at times this may seem embarrassing and frustrating to outside onlookers and to many republicans themselves, this is a healthy process that will hopefully give birth to a new republican party that will be less beholding to the Washington political class and their corporate and banking masters.

Should the OWS movement accomplish what it has set out to accomplish the Democrats will experience similar problems in the near future as the old democratic establishment is moved to the wayside.  I would suggest that such a movement in the Democratic party will produce even more bitter fighting and will be met with stern opposition from the establishment…  after all it is the Democratic party who celebrates the wisdom of the intellectually elite and their vision for a better tomorrow and world supporting their continued consolidation of power against the ideals of our constitution but all done for the betterment of society.  The same party who granted itself the super-delegates just in case the common citizen was too stupid and poorly educated to elect the proper candidate in the primary processes.  No your party will not take this sitting down, but like many have tried to say before there are many similarities between the Tea Party and the OWS movement which center on the maxium of “Throw them all out!” as the ruling elite have shown themselves to be thoroughly corrupted and nothing about government will change as long as they are in power.

  • Anonymous

Um, it has little to do with Newt Gingrich, but I do think the Republican Party has already begun self-destructing because of its own extreme elements.  I suspect sane and/or moderate conservatives to eventually move out of the Republican Party and find a new home in a third party within a generation or so.  That seems more likely than the party cleaning house and toning down its rhetoric and extremist elements, and one of those is bound to happen sooner or later.  A reorganization of our political parties is long overdue.

Sounds like you have a case of the “social conservatives” since you didn’t cite SP as a reason to flee to the Independents.

Do you disagree with Meghan re Newt’s nominee being a huge problem for the GOP?

Newt Gingrich appears less and less likely that he is the man that the Tea Party base will turn to and embrace. Too many wives, too many skeletons in his expansive closet, too many Mitt-esque flip flops on issues of vital importance to right-wing conservatives. Newt Gingrich simply does not have the “discipline” nor the “temperament” to run a successful campaign or to be a qualified commander in chief. Newt is a radical and a bomb-thrower, a man with a head full of ideas — and every single one goes against the very fabric of America and our Constitution. He has become a weak flavor-of-the-month candidate, just another anti-Romney that quickly fades from view..  www.sunstateactivist.org

  • Anonymous

Easy! Calling the tea party names by major leading networks. Teabaggers etc. I didnt see Anderson Cooper call the OWS any names!

Calling the tea party racist by CNN Anchors because the majority of them were white. but the OWS is majority white  but have not heard a word about them being racist!

The tea party made changes and did something with the government…what is the OWS doing so far? Crapping on cars and raping 14 year old girls! yet Obama seems to relate to them more then the tea party who wants to stop the spending!

Wonder why his poll numbers are going below Carters now!

When will ppl wake the hell up to the horror that is the Gay-Obsessed-Party!  or Grover-over-People! or Greed over People!  Here’s yet another list of bills that the GOP has blocked, including a bill allowing for women to be paid less than men.(So much for equal rights as protected by the US Constitution)   This bill would have provided job security for veterans receiving medical treatment for injuries suffered in combat, (so much for “Support the Troops”) and a bill that would have allowed funds to protect kids online (so much for protecting our children.) You hypocritical creeps. http://tinyurl.com/6qtqes7

Ed Schultz wandered into the MSNBC breakroom this afternoon, looking for a couple of lunches to swipe. He was surprised to see colleague Meghan McCain staring intently into the freezer at a can of orange juice.

    “What up, Megs?”, Ed thundered.

“It says on the can ‘ concentrate’, so I totally am ! ”

You sure seem to represent the tea dippers.  You think that is entertaining?  Guess the bar is really low for tea dippers.  Although I very seldom agree with her on anything I do respect her for her opinion.  She unlike you tea dippers don’t ever bother to listen to the other side.

  • SouthernYankee

Funny thing is they love their Heil Gringrich.

I don’t think she is above pandering, but she does make a concerted effort to think outside the box and listen especially to young conservatives. I think she has their ear and should be on anyone’s short list for people to listen to to keep abreast of what is going on in Conservatism. The low-hanging fruit on her side call her a RINO, of course, but who cares?

  • 12voltman1

She is not drop dead gorgeous.
    But she is pretty!

  • LindaLeigh

The day President Obama won against Meghan’s father is the day when the far right wing tea party people started taking over the Republican Party…that’s when the Republican Party started to end.

The possible nomination of Newt Gingrich won’t give the Republican Party or tea party people for that matter any hope of revival.

  • http://mediamatters.org/ Leedog

Why are Republicans even concerned with what Meghan has to say?? Based on their comments, they have the next election already won… it’s a slam dunk!!

Unless it’s all talk to try to take away the painful thought of 4 more years of Obama?? Furthermore, since when have Republicans ever been known to say something they don’t believe in and defend their Party just to hide it’s failures??

  • Anonymous

And it took a RINO to do it for you. Funny, though, our heads aren’t exploding – we stopped listening to Meghan a LONG time ago. So, you keep enjoying yourself out there… we’re busy picking Obama’s replacement. And yes WHOEVER we pick, will be his replacement.

(And I will enjoy all your leftists’ heads exploding next November. See you then!)

  • Anonymous

    “As a Republican”… really?
What, exactly are Meghan’s qualifications for being a Republican? Most people I know don’t even consider her father a Republican; and its’ not like she inherits the title or anything. In fact, her only purpose seems to be appearing on Leftist propoganda shows and slamming real Republicans.

So, anyone here want to enlighten me about what, exactly, makes her a Republican?

  • Anonymous

What are the qualifications for identifying with any political party?  Is there a secret handshake I’m not aware of?

  • Anonymous

“we stopped listening to Meghan a LONG time ago.”

Yet you still felt the need to give her run with your pageclicks and comments.  If you had stopped listening to her, you wouldn’t be here.

  • Anonymous

Republicans aren’t concerned with anything Meghan has to say. But you Lefties sure have a great time pretending we do. Look back on Meghan’s media career – its been spent bashing Republicans, hasn’t it? Every appearance, she never disappoints. Which is the only reason she gets the exposure she does. Don’t you get it? Meghan is YOUR creation, not ours. She entertains YOU. Typical Leftist media circle jerk. Someday, perhaps, you’ll smart enough not to listen.

  • Anonymous

Well, it would seem that you would have to (at least) espouse the policies or values of that party, not just self-identify, correct? Can you name a Republican position she endorses?

And your bonus question: isn’t it strange that with all of these TV appearances, and yet you can’t think of one. Isn’t that odd?

  • Anonymous

Actually, no. I’m a news junkie. I visit probably 50 stories a day. And even if I’ve stopped listening to her, I certainly enjoy watching all of you work yourselves up into a lather.

Listening to Meghan McCain talk about how she is a Republican is like listening to Ed Schultz try to convince his small audience he really IS a liberal.

  • Anonymous

You obviously were not paying attention in 2010. It is precisely the failure that is Obama that has given them new strength.

  • Anonymous

Very good libdog…gave you a like!

  • Anonymous

I love all of you guys, I really do. Not ONE person can name ONE Republican position that Meghan holds; yet you all refer to her as a Republican. Here’s a clue: you let her get away with it, because she bashes Republicans. That’s it. Liberal propaganda at its best. I bet the Koolaid goes down real smooth, doesn’t it?

  • Anonymous

No, no, Coservative values are temporarily on hold remember?  That’s how Gingrich gets the nomination.  Therefore it is OK for Meghan to espouse her Conservative views.

  • Anonymous

Nice dodge, but untrue. If its okay for Meghan to “espouse her conservative views”… kindly tell me what they are. Just one. Name it.

  • Anonymous

And your point is?  We like her just fine and Donald too.  You teabaggers sure know how to throw a Primary.

  • Anonymous

You lefties sure are arrogant – especially after your last primary fiasco. You DBaggers sure know how to throw a primary, don’t you? And then you nominate Obama – who is clearly even worse than Carter was at this point. Truly triumphant, thou art.

My point is that Meghan is one of yours, not ours. She doesn’t hold any Republican positions that any of you can name, and the only reason she gets the airtime and you listen to her at all is because she bashes Republicans, while claiming to be one. It’s really sad… Lefty Political Theater isn’t what it used to be. Enjoy the circle jerk.

Meghan is what a scholar would call a Constitutional Conservative.  John nobody gives a darn what her positions are, as long as it hurts Republicants.  Simple.

Exactly. You have no reason to believe she is conservative, let alone a “constitutional conservative”. (I doubt either of you could explain what that is.) And so, you prove my point. She only exists as a channel for your hatred. Point set match. Here’s your sign.

I just hate seeing a RINO make an ass of herself. I mean, Republicans tolerate dissent on a few issues, but when was the last time this woman had anything nice to say about the GOP? Jesus Christ, I’m a libertarian and I’m way more Republican than her. I like the death penalty, the right to bear arms, low taxes, corporations, not giving money to Planned Parenthood, etc, etc, etc. Sure, sometimes I may disagree with a Republican on whether the State should be promoting marriage and chastity sex education, but so what? Those are minor issues and not deal breakers, yet Meghan thinks that Newt Gingrich is going to destroy the GOP? Really? The man is a historian, he’s charismatic, brilliant, he even got Bill Clinton to reform welfare!  Of course, saying that won’t get you on MSNBC, but being a self-hating Republican? Oh, they will welcome that useful idiot with open arms.

Is there a more vapid and vacuous “portly” “woman” pontificating because of mommy’s wealth, and  daddy’s name? Anyone remember the name of the “Beer Baron”, momma Cindy’s dad?
I do. I lived there and voted for McCain ONCE.
That carpetbagger McCain (who abandoned the wife who waited for her POW hubby) done found hisself a trophy wife in a safe district and won with the help of Cindy’s daddy. How cozy.
QUESTION: If Meggers Mac loses the elephantiasis appearance, will anyone take her seriously then?
LOL  I doubt it. I must admit that I am most disappointed in her gorgeous, fawning drug-addicted mommy. She and I obviously traveled in different circles back in the day.  (chuckle)

Sarah Palin isn’t important to me. If and when she gets back into politics, then I might listen to what she is saying. She isn’t even on my radar right now.

I don’t think he is a huge problem, but he isn’t exactly the candidate I would want in the primary if I was still a Republican. His intelligence and Washington savvy are a plus in his column. His marital record is definitely a minus, but im of the mind that I find it awful but it doesn’t mean that that person can’t do the job. It doesn’t help them, but it doesn’t rule them out completely.

Meghan’s comments were toward his feelings of judicial activism and whether he is home for christmas or not. The latter means nothing and she was just filling air time with nonsense. The judicial activism is very important to me. While I don’t agree with abolishing courts or anything quite that drastic, I would like more oversight on the courts where legislating is taking place. Their job is to interpret current law and apply it to the case, not to create law out of whole cloth. Im not as far out on the right on this issue as Newt is, but I do see a problem with judicial activism.

She is nowhere near a conservative. If you’ve ever listened to all the the things she has said in the past then she is basically a Progressive in the Republican party… just like her dad. She is all for big gov’t as long as the gop is in control of it. She actually shares some of the same views as Newt, but she is so oblivious she has no idea. This is Ms.McCain in a nutshell: She claims to want to give a hearing to other views, but then is shocked and offended to discover that there are other views that don’t match her own.
