Michel Gondry Directed Jimmy Kimmel Last Night And It Was Kind Of Insane

Last night, Jimmy Kimmel Live was guest-directed by Michel Gondry, the director behind such films at Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep. Sure, the whole thing was basically just a long commercial for Gondry’s latest movie The Green Hornet, but there’s nothing the French director can’t make wacky, whimsical, and a little bit awesome (except, maybe, the movie The Green Hornet).

Proceedings were weird from the very beginning when a new opening led to a monologue that was interrupted by Kimmel receiving a phone call from himself. Later, Seth Rogen entered for his interview by walking through the mouth of a giant model of his head while Gondry played the drums on its giant teeth. While the distinct odor of bloated, popcorn entertainment marketing wafted over the entire episode, I’ll be damned if it wasn’t goofy fun. And some of the live practical effects used were quite impressive.

So give it a watch. We’ve got the “monologue” below and you can check out the rest of the show here.

The Green Hornet is going to bomb horribly. I don’t need to read a review or know anything about the movie industry to know that.
