Michele Bachmann’s New Campaign Ad Compares Her To Margaret Thatcher

video

Michele Bachmann has a new ad airing in the lovely state of Iowa (Lucky Iowans. I’m sure they were just dying for another campaign ad right about now). The ad, her first television commercial in months, is called “America’s Iron Lady” and it’s exactly what you think it is from that title.

…unless you’re imagining some kind of super hero thing with Bachmann as a crime fighting woman made of metal. In that case it’s nothing like what you think.

No, Bachmann is making good on the comparison she’s been making a lot lately, holding herself up as our nation’s answer to Margaret Thatcher. Bachmann’s team is clearly hoping to grab some steam off the new Thatcher biopic out in theaters. Really though, chances are good that, in 2012 (hey, look, it’s 2012!), the only benefit coming from Thatcher’s name is going to go straight to Meryl Streep’s Oscar chances.

Really, if Bachmann wants to genuinely capture the nation’s cinematic zeitgeist, she should start growing a mohawk and declare herself “America’s Lisbeth Salander.” Now, that’d make for some fascinating debates.

Watch the new ad below:

    Ahahahhaa,
Margaret Thatcher  is the Iron LADY, but Batchmann is a joke just like the tea party caucus she heads.

Thanks for highlighting the reason why NOT to vote Bachmann…. The world gets to have Margarette Thatcher, Indira Gandhi and Golda Meir and you think this country settles for a Michelle Bachmann or a Sarah Palin for a historic first for this country ?

  • Anonymous

Yep, if you take away sanity, reason, patience, and logic from Margaret Thatcher you end up with Bachmann.

  • WiddleBabyDanielson

Michell Bachmann’s long list of legislative accomplishments.

    Very Thatcheresque, NO?

  • WiddleBabyDanielson

    OOPS

    Factcheck says I am wrong

Michele Bachmann does have a record of accomplishment after all; it’s
just a record of weak accomplishment. Bachmann has passed three
rhetorical bills with no force of law, and one amendment that asks an
Inspector General to conduct inspections. That’s a record. It’s four
accomplishments. Whether these are four accomplishments to be proud of
    is another matter.

    Even Thatcher raised taxes

  • Anonymous

Does that make Marcus “Iron Man”?

  • Anonymous

So Michele is the 2012 version of Baroness Thatcher.

  • Dead_Air

Margaret Thatcher suffers from Alzheimer’s and dementia.  Is that what Bachmann is saying?

  • Anonymous

Wait, shame on me for including Golda Meir a list with honorable figures such as Ghandi and Merkel. Golda falls in the column of “just another in a long list of war criminals”

Does that include the accent as well?

  • Anonymous

Only if you consider the iron hard on he gets when “counseling” other gay men.

  • WiddleBabyDanielson

She can only aspire to such accomplishments.

Maggie Thatcher was never hot like torrid, tempestuous, tantalizing Michele Bachmann.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has been in Congress for three terms encompassing five years (1 year left on her term). At the time of his election to the Presidency, Abraham Lincoln had served one term in Congress from 1846-1848. At the time of her election as Prime Minister, Lady Thatcher had served multiple terms in Parliament.  Michele suffers from migraines.  Abraham Lincoln suffered from migraines and depression. Lady Thatcher was fine during her terms as Prime Minister, but became sick afterwards.  Michele is ridiculed by the commenters on Mediaite.  Abraham Lincoln was ridiculed by Eastern Establishment Intellectuals. Lady Thatcher was ridiculed by liberals all over the world.  Michele will therefore make a great President in the tradition of Abraham Lincoln and Margaret Thatcher.  Liberals will be having nervous breakdowns!

    Parliament raises taxes!

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

Have you ever seen a Venn diagram?

  • Anonymous

Pitiful.  Just pitiful.  And millions would love her as president.  Yup.

Lisbeth Salander?  Quite a woman!  If she really existed, she would make a perfect San Francisco liberal (If you rave read or seen “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”, you know what I mean). That role belongs to Nancy Pelosi who was born to play it!  Michele Bachmann just does not fit the image.

If I were casting Michele Bachmann for a movie, she would be ideal as “Maid Marion” in the next episode of “Robin Hood”.  I can just see Robin Hood rescuing her from the clutches of the Sheriff of Nottingham (a metaphor for liberalism)!

You must not have been around when Maggie was PM from 1979-1990.  She was very hot!  Her political decsions were so bold and decisive, men (and some women) could just picture her taking the bold initiatives in bed and always coming out on top.

not a great choice  careful when you sit on the toilet  (remember)

  • Anonymous

Sorry, but not having gone to liberal pro communist college, I have no idea what a Venn diagram is.  Please enlighten us all?

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

The Venn diagram is included in early grade school educational standards. The fact that you can’t identify the tool is not evidence of “communist college” absence but absence of a rudimentary thinking skill that belongs to most children. This also helps us to understand your assessment of “college” as “liberal pro communist”… Evaluation is far more advance than simple segregation of similarities and differences. Please read more broadly and deeply. The health of the nation depends on adults who think like adults.

Liberal dislike for Bachmann is rooted in their hatred for femininity in women.
They are more attracted to the Rosie O’Donnell model…..Snarling and scratching her balls.

  • Joan Kelly

I can’t imagine anyone caring rescuing her from anything…!

  • Joan Kelly

    Yes, Greg!  Thank you.

  • Joan Kelly

    Whoa – - – good one.

  • Joan Kelly

    Not hardly.

  • Anonymous

No, Marcus is the one with the “accent”.

  • Anonymous

I googled it!  However, it was not even taught where I went to grade school in “pro communist” New York City.  That was a long time ago.  I am almost as old as your cheerleader in chief, 73 year old Joan Kelly.  She has an Irish name, so she sounds pretty nice for a liberal! (LOL).

  • Anonymous

Since you have an Irish name, it would be great to rescue both you and Michele from the evil clutches of liberalism!  (LOL)

  • Joan Kelly

    Hi Tennessee -

That’s my married name.  Davis is the nee from Wales and Overby on the maternal side.  Got Sioux, African, Dutch, Welsh, Scot and English in the mix of this mutt.

You can’t really rescue me from anything.  I’m Liberal to the Godly  marrow of my bones.  ; )

  • Joan Kelly

    In your dreams, Sweetheart.

  • Joan Kelly

Get over yourself – you can Google just like all of us.

  • Joan Kelly

Blame that on your Republican district leaders at the time.  They always want to cut/qut funding at the level of grammer school.  That’s not a liberal decision!

  • Joan Kelly

    Stoney -

    You really are hard up.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IC7HRBJRXKA7IKTTZS5W3UIECQ Agent of Truth

Bachman like Thatcher???  Oh Gawd….what a loser.  Once again, another pig rapists attempts to generate a thought.

  • BooBoo Bear

I think that she’s more like Sarah “airhead” Palin

  • Anonymous

    yeah right…..both are now senile.

    Hi Joan:

My mother was born in Bagnelstown, County Carlow, Ireland, and came to America in March of 1925.  My father’s grandfather came from Baden Germany in 1852.  Both familes settled in NYC, and, when my parents were married, it seemed as though they were the only Republicans in NYC.  My mother did cross over the line and voted for Democratic Mayor William O’Dweyer 3 times (He was Irish), but other than that, they were Tom Dewey (liberal) Republicans.  We cannot blame the Republican District leaders in NYC for not teaching the Wenn Diagram in elementary schools, because they were so few of them.  You married an Irishman, so that is good enough for me. You are a good liberal!   As for your liberalism, just remember what happened to Saul of Tarsus on the Road to Damascus in the Book of Acts.  He underwent a miraculous conversion and became the Apostle Paul.  You could have a “Road to Damascus” experience and convert to Conservatism when you least expect it.  Hillary Clinton was a “Goldwater Girl” at the Republican National Convention in 1964!  We look forward to her coming home as well!

What an insult to Margaret Thatcher.

  • Anonymous

You sit on the toilet to piss….don’t you?

  • Anonymous

I wonder if Michele knows that the iron lady was thrown out of office by a vote of no confidence, by her own party?

    Happy Birthday Elvis…………………………Hehehehe

  • Joan Kelly

    Tennessee,

The Republican Party of 1925 was vastly different from what we see today.  Reagan was vastly different from Cantor for that matter.  I was a “Goldwater Girl”, also.  Truthfully, I think I’m where I belong.  Thanks for being inviting, tho.
