Nachi, when you state that “the little valueless Repug hate-mongers will attack it w their usual mindless, soulless rabidity,” that is actually a mindless, soulless attack. And assuming you earn any money in the course of a day, why would you want the government to use it to help me and the rest of “the rancid masses?” Do you ever pause to apply logic to your venom, or does stream of consciousness work best for you?

Yes, I’m going to take advice from a failed sports announcer. Hey, Keith, what you failed to tell me was WHY should I trust a government that hasn’t proved that it can run anything suddenly take over Health Care.

Isn’t Walter Reed a government run hospital? Wasn’t there a giant dust up about how poorly run it was? Social Security is bankrupt, the DMV is a mess, the Post Office is out of money, the government is out of money…on second thought, sure I don’t see a problem with the government getting involved with health care. They have a track record of everything they touch turning to shit! Why not!

I understand his personal feelings here, having dealt with the same thing in our family, but using it to forward a flawed plan is just beyond the pale of acceptability.

“Dickensian?” So gruel and beatings all around?

I mourn Olbermann’s loss, but decry his haste to use it for political gain. For shame, Keith.

I can appreciate why a person with Mr. Olbermann’s political leanings feels so strongly about health care, even if I disagree. But what I don’t understand is why he doesn’t put his money where is over-enunciating mouth is. If I am to believe the media accounts I read, Olbermann makes $7 million a year. Why not announce that he is donating $6 million annually toward the causes he deems most important, and challenge other wealthy people on the left to use their wealth in the same manner. Is it unreasonable to ask him to live on a million dollars a year? If he is indeed so passionate about this cause, this would be a logical next step. Unless, of course, like most progressives, he favors the idea of government redistribution of wealth but not the actual practice of redistribution as it would apply to him.
