Thanks Steve for giving credit to someone at CNN other than Anderson Cooper. It seems some people think that there are only a few people high profile people reporting from Haiti, but in reality there are a lot of reporters who never get their time in the sun, Jason Carrol l is one them. And let’s not forget the camera crews and others behind the scene who make the reports possible.

There was some discussion over at Dollar’s Dump about the impropriety of reporters tearing up at the loss of life and the destruction. I suppose that, if inauthentic, it is a problem, but I fail to see how a human being could not feel such a terrible loss.

I do think most of the coverage has been very good.

All networks, all reporters, from all stripes are doing their best to get stories out. The reporting today from the orphanage by Johnathan Hunt has been excellent – to include having the adoptive parents on the other end and making on-air contact with DOS about cutting the red tape and getting these adoptions finalized. I have several friends who have adopted children from all over the world, and the time from start to finish is often times two years. The adoptive parents whose adoptions are near finalized started the process long before the earthquake and are now more than ever wanting to bring these children home for the love, attention and care they are so eager to provide.

Ivan Watson has also done some great reporting from Haiti.
