Rachel Maddow Uses Props To Demonstrate Absurdity Of Cain’s Recent Line Of Defense

Video

Tonight on her show, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow proved that 1) it doesn’t much matter what anchors and hosts wear on the lower half of their bodies if they’re mostly sitting behind a desk and 2) there is not a prop that Maddow won’t use. Using a steering wheel as a visual aid, Maddow offered an analogy demonstrating the relative absurdity of Herman Cain‘s recent line of defense. She played a reckless driver who had recently run over a young woman (you can tell the accident was fatal because of the large black X’s over the poor victim’s eyes) and now finds herself having to explain her actions to a cop. How can I be held accountable for this one little death, Maddow-as-reckless-driver asked, when there are all these, like, live people I didn’t hit walking around? This is not unlike Cain’s recent assertion that for, every person who comes forward with a harassment allegation against, there are many who think him incapable of such a thing.

RELATED: Jon Stewart Comes Up With A Good Reason Why Cain Should Take A Lie Detector Test

She then highlighted some of the other ways that Cain, his campaign and his supporters (and/or apologists, perhaps) in the media have attempted to undermine, downplay or distract from the allegations against him, referencing Talking Points Memo’s lists of “Things That Don’t Affect Whether Herman Cain Sexually Harassed Two Women” (part 1, part 2):

- “The lady didn’t even work for the company” where Cain was working at the time of her specific allegation.
- There exist cases where women have sexually harassed men.
- There is a machine in place keeping business men from becoming president of the United States.
- People do not like the fact that Cain is likable.
- Barack Obama! Bill Ayers!
- One of his accusers has a son who works at Politico. (Which is not true.)

Maddow then focused on a quote made by Cain’s attorney, Atlanta-based Lin Wood: Women thinking of coming forward with allegations of their own “should think twice” about that.

“This is a pretty remarkable moment,” Maddow weighed in, “for what it means to be held accountable in America.” She then followed up with various snarky-to-derogatory take-downs of Cain’s accusers, particularly Sharon Bialek, that have appeared in the press.

Herman definately wouldn’t sexually harass Maddow.

Maddow is grotesque. What a sad specimen.

lets see, three live people walking around represent three people lying or not? No not the same thing at all. Easy to prove the three people are alive but not at all easy to prove the three liars are telling the truth especially given the incentive or monetary or political gain and the history of the accusers.

  • Anonymous

Okay, that was a pretty silly segment.

No more silly than the 12,000 people Cain has already tried to blame this on, but still.

Liberals eat this crap up… they love, smarmy, arrogant, intellectually vacant and dishonest analysis as long as it plays to their sick narrative.

Wow… trying to be a female (?) Glenn Beck w/ her props. As an aside, Beck was right, Mr. Maddow is always wrong.

People who poked fun at Beck last year and in ’09 for “fear-mongering” about riots and civil unrest that was coming are now eating crow.

Hernman Cain——————views are similar to Malcolm X

    1. Malcolm X said that that black people should do for self, and not depend on whites

    2. Malcolm X said that blacks should not depend on the government

    3. Malcolm X spoke out against welfare

    4. Malcolm X said that blacks have a right to bear arms

    5. Malcolm X spoke out against blacks having babies out of wedlock

    6. Malcolm X HATED the Democrats, he said that they use black people for votes

    7. Malcolm X said that blacks are brainwashed by the Democrats

    8. Malcolm X would be against gay marriage

Malcolm X views were very Conservative

Excellent work by Rachel. Spot on, factual, astute. Why a woman would vote for crazy reactionaries trying to take control of their wombs is beyond me.

Now, the rightwing nutjobs will come here and talk about Rachel´s looks and make homophobic remarks.

Yeah, go ahead, donate money to Cain. After all he could be a serial sexual harasser and needs support.

  • proud2teabagu

Maddow sure does find herself amusing.

  • Rex the Wonder God

If Creepy Cain really had courage, he would go onto her show. After all, he was on O’Donnell’s show a number of times.

He won’t go to Maddow’s show though, not now, not ever: she would slice & dice him into little creepy weenie pieces, run the creepy weenie pieces through her food processor, spread the slop out on a Godfather’s Pizza extra thick pie shell, toss on some extras like Pillsbury Doughboy popovers & some ground up reconstituted Burger King only-dropped-once-and-on-the-killfloor-for-under-eight-seconds technical “cow meat”, cheesy up the whole mess, fire it into the pizza oven for a while, scoop it out & feed the result to cockroaches. And that’s if he’s lucky enough to find her in a GENEROUS mood. The perve deserves a far worse fate.

1- Rachel is so smart. She does a great job with her show.
2- It’s going to be fun watching Cain melt down further (on his own and with the help of his car-salesmanesque campaign manager) — http://i44.tinypic.com/120rvxd.png
3- I’m utterly dismayed that Cain and Romney are the best the repubs have to offer the country. Seriously, is there someone on the right who is smart, understands politics, possesses maturity and is at least slightly presidential? — http://i42.tinypic.com/23tkv2p.png

Courage? Anyone who is not a far left whack job that goes on Msnbc period is at the very least exercising poor judgement. All they will do is use it for tomorrows hate filled and slanderous attacks so their dozen or so viewers can get their rocks off. I’m guessing you already knew that though.

Trial without a jury and convicted in the minds of biased ”
reporters” with a liberal agenda. No back ground checks on the accusers,
the motive and method the writer employed to produce this dime store
novel is below the professional standard of a member of the press. If we
are to survive as a nation, our reporters  must reverse course and
become journalist and not left wing hit men. This was produced and
directed by Daley and his Chicago dirty tricks bunch. In your haste to
get to the gallows you deliberately left out the  democratic party
connection  to these shady characters of deception. Where is the
principle of innocence till proven guilty that is a pillar of the
American Justice System employed in this hit piece?

Politico you have lost your moral center and you need some on your
staff to let you know when you are being a hit men and not a reporter.
If you would like to run your stories through me, I can get you back on
the road of being professional journalist. We will not hang people with
our keyboard until we are sure there is a story. We can do this on a
trial basis, you pay me, what it is worth to go to bed at night with the
feeling of accomplishment and  knowing  you behaved and wrote like a
professional. It would be soul cleansing to escape and no longer have to
write cheap, sleazy, democratic x-rated novels.  A neuro programed
computer can write a tardy novel, it’s take a professional journalist to
write an honest fact based story.

This propaganda  would have been effective, if the message was
controlled by the main street media.
The net, talk radio, and the free
neighborhood presses has been the death to the main street media. Dr
King quoting, Dante, “The hottest place in hell is reserved for those
who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict.” I for one may go
to hell but I will be sent there defending the right of ever American to
have a fair trail in the court of law, not hung by a writers keyboard.

I only wish, I was a word craft man like the many liberal reporters
that have the capability to sway thousands with their key board. Their
words are like magic as they flow to the readers mind. How can a person
waste such talent by selling their soul to a group of men that will
discard them like a dirty dishrag when they are no longer useful? It is a
tragedy. . “I am not upset that you lied to me, I am upset ,that from
now on I can not believe you” Friedrich Nietzsche

Liberal gold. It is just utterly amazing how Fox News kicks Mr. Maddow’s ass every night???

When whitey wondered/questioned how 27 church member years, daughters baptisms, etc by the jack ass hate bigot Rev J Wright…… whitey was a racist for even wondering. Now a crew of fair skinned white girls accuse a black conservative of harassment 14 odd years ago with zero proof – the black man is mocked and ridiculed by a white alleged girl on MSNBC…… Well Missuh Cain is now in the big leagues and must deal with all the whitey criticism like a deferential Negro.

Wonder if a white girl had accused BHO of harassment…. Wonder if that white girl would be a racist!!!! Or what if one of Cains white girls was working as an intern and gave him a beej in his work office!!!!!! Of course – what jack ass would ever do that?

Do you even know what a Rhodes Scholar is?

“Much has been written about British diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes,
founder of the Rhodes Scholarship. Briefly, he was dedicated to
establishing a socialist one-world government controlled by a small group
of elite — a world view he received from John Ruskin, his socialist
professor at Oxford. After making his fortune in diamonds, Rhodes
established a secret society in the form of a scholarship to promote this
ideal should it fail to materialize before his death. Rhodes biographer
Sarah Millin wrote: “The government of the world was Rhodes’ simple
    desire.”"

Typed in not cut and paste. the second is a favorite of mine I am not upset that you lied to me…..is from Nietzsche. The rest are my words. I would suggest that you do research before you falsely accuse me of Plagiarism. This is a liberal habit of leveling baseless charges. In order to use the same post on different web site and to be courteous to other posters, I spend time tightening up the wording so as not to take up a complete page. I cut and paste my own writing and post on many sites then adjust it to fit that site.

    Injustice
by Robert Black on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 3:26pm
Although black and white Americans live, work, and learn together now, there is still injustice in America.”Kathleen Sebelius. These words are an indictment against the liberal press and the liberals that ran to get the ropes to dangle Mr. Cain from the nearest tree. America’s justice system is based on the following legal concept that the guilt of an accused person cannot be presumed and that they must be assumed to be innocent until proven otherwise.Mr Cain did not get his day in court to prove these false charges from political operatives of the modern day (Chicago based) KKK who under took the evil chore of lynching this fine man. The words of pale skin women of dubious character was sufficient to assassinate the character of an Afro-American male. A pale skin woman said it, it must be true because you know those people are beasts. That was the philosophy that was prevalent in the dark days of the nation.
This unconscionable creed has been brought back to life by Daley and the Democrats

I can close my eyes and feel the heat of the burning cross and see the horror of the white sheets as the liberals march around the dangling body of a brother who only sin is he wants to restore America to greatness. You that stand by and did nothing and allowed this to happen are as guilty as the media, you lite the cross and supplied the rope that kept the slow agonizing torture of Mr. Cain and his family going on for nine days.  The rope is acceptance of this story without proof and the cross is the dispersions cast on Mr. Cain by evil people.

” Fear is pain arising from the anticipation of evil”.Aristotle, I fear for our nation and our people. The pain is
great because we have an evil group of men intent on destroying a good man on the racist policy of a long gotten era. A pale woman said it; so you hang my brother. This policy was evil then and it is evil now.” it
also became clear that these conditions of inequality and historical injustice have given rise to a feeling of hate in the world – a deeply felt hate that cannot easily be overcome with a few good words.Ulrich Beck. Press, you have the responsible to stop this madness of trial by public square justice. If they have a case take it to court and prove it. Do not let your evil words be the rope that hangs my brother.

The black community will not stand for one of our brothers to be hung from the podium of the democratic party and be labeled a sexual predator by evil people. The Tuskegee Institute has recorded 3,446 brothers that were dangled by gentlemen of the light colored pigmentation. Without_hate has personally seen two high tech dangling by the socialist democratic party, The outstanding Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and now the honorable Mr. Cain.

The evil that you do lives on. Think of how the press handle the story of John Edwards. The rape of Juanita Broddick , the mauling of Wiley. Have you not sense of journalist integrity? You are the hangman not a pressman. .

  • Pablo

I’ll bet you hate f*ck your pillow.

There’s nothing ironic about pointing out hypocrisy. Further, there’s no sex scandal here, so your theory doesn’t hold.

Really? Explain that. How wrong Beck was about civil unrest.

  • Pablo

Then why did he say this?

The white liberal differs from the white conservative only in one way: the liberal is more deceitful than the conservative. The liberal is more hypocritical than the conservative.
Both want power, but the white liberal is the one who has perfected the
art of posing as the Negro’s friend and benefactor; and by winning the
friendship, allegiance, and support of the Negro, the white liberal is
able to use the Negro as a pawn or tool in this political “football

So… the so-called 5th accuser is casting aspersions based on absolutely zero evidence.
    That leaves…

One accuser who called her 13-year-old son to ask his advice on whether to go to the media — and who’s being paraded around by Gloria Allred in front of any news show that’ll have her

One accuser whose biggest complaint was that Herman compared her height to that of his wife (and who tried to extract another settlement at the next job she went to after her settlement with the NRA)

One non-accuser who says nothing happened during her dinner with Mr. Cain

And two anonymous “accusers” from whom we don’t have any specific accusations.

And all of it, interestingly, coming from Chicago. Hmmmmmm…

    Public Hanging of Mr. Cain
by Robert Black on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 4:12pm
Trial without a jury and convicted in the minds of biased ” reporters” with a liberal agenda. No back ground checks on the accusers, the motive and method the writer employed to produce this dime store novel is below the professional standard of a member of the press. If we are to survive as a nation, our reporters  must reverse course and become journalist and not left wing hit men. This was produced and directed by Daley and his Chicago dirty tricks bunch. In your haste to get to the gallows you deliberately left out the  democratic party connection  to these shady characters of deception. Where is the principle of innocence till proven guilty that is a pillar of the

Cain’s sex harassment victims keep popping up like whack-a-moles. Five so far and probably others. The lack of compassion and empathy – two key traits of a sociopath -  are revealed by Cain and those supporting him. A guilty person upon being confronted will often try to blame the victim, will try to point the spotlight anywhere else as a distraction.

Cain very carefully avoids actually denying these victims’ claims.

This is why Maddow is a joke.  She does backflips to defend Anthony Weiner, and even calls in Larry Flynt as her expert on sexual ethics!, and then beats up on Herman Cain.

Someone needs to tell Maddow that she will only earn respect if she stands up for consistent values and principles.  Her constant flip-flops to score political points completely undermine her reputation.

She should watch Bill O’Reilly if she wants to see how it’s done — Bill has certain core values that don’t waver, and he will attack both Republicans and Democrats because he believes his values are more important than political expediency.  Maddow never sees beyond scoring points against her ideological enemies, even if it forces her to contradict on Tuesday what she said on Monday.

So, the Rainbow Coalition darling of the Left learned to use props from the despised enemy of the Left, Glenn Beck.

She and all of her fellow hate-mongers on MSNBC should learn a few lessons from FOX:

Try objectivity once in a blue moon. Loading your programs with head-nodding YES-Men/women is a sure way to oblivion, as the ratings show.

Try to snicker less when you are talking about your ideological opponents.

Try to insert a bit of humor. And not necessarily at your opponents’ expense.

Try to be a bit more colorblind and judge a person by the content of his character, rather than the color of his skin. In other words, make an effort and resist to follow your natural inclination of being a flaming RACIST.

Try to run a show without input from MediaMatters and/or DailyKos.

Try to run a show without jealous, spiteful, vitriolic and malevolent references to FOX.

By now everyone knows your opinion, so ease up on the opinion shows. Try to give the folks NEWS at least at 6:00 and 7:00 PM ET. Everyone, even you most ardent viewers would welcome a relief from the current worthies in those time slots.

Replace the despicable limey and the Harlem foghorn. Rehire Olbermann and Michael Savage. At least, horrible they are, they have a coherent thought, unlike these two.

Take my loving advise. Follow the example of FOX. Your miserable ratings will improve.

The social derangement exhibited above seems to be distributed throughout the Republican party and the disparate asocial elements attached to or attracted by the party. This is expected to have significant impacts on the 2012 election, beneficial to the Democrats, in two main ways: 1) Center-left voter movitation will be higher than expected due to “Tea Party Dread” (see Note 11-G), while 2) right-far right voter motivation is suppressed by resentment, confusion, inner conflict, and anomie.

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) – Private investigator TJ Ward said presidential hopeful Herman Cain was not lying at a news conference on Tuesday in Phoenix.Cain denied making any sexual actions towards Sharon Bialek and vowed to take a polygraph test if necessary to prove his innocence.Cain has not taken a polygraph but Ward said he does have software that does something better.Ward said the $15,000 software can detect lies in people’s voices.

    CBS Atlanta’s Mike Paluska played
Cain’s speech for Ward into the software and watched as it analyzed Cain’s every word.  If he is hiding something this thing would have spiked way down here,” said Ward.  “He is being truthful, totally truthful.  He is a man with integrity and he talked directly about not knowing any incident he is accused of.”The software analyzes the stress level and other factors in your voice.  During the speech, when Cain denied the claims, the lie detector read “low risk.”  According to Ward, that means Cain is telling the truth.

    During the section of
Bialek’s news conference where she says, “He suddenly reached over put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals he also grabbed my head
brought it towards his crotch.”During the analysis
of that section the software said “high risk statement.”  Ward said that
means she is not  telling the truth about what happened.”I don’t think she is fabricating her meetings,” said Ward.  But, she is fabricating what transpired.”Ward said nearly 70 law enforcement agencies nationwide
use the voice software, including the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office

    .Ward
said the technology is a scientific measure that law enforcement use as a tool to tell when someone is lying and that it has a 95 percent success rate. After listening to Cain’s speech and analyzing it, Ward said there is no doubt, Cain is innocent.”When he directly talks about the allegations against him there is no high risk,” said Ward.  “It is low risk, which tells me he is being truthful in his conversations to the public.”

You actually can have it both ways. Because Obama doesn’t care if his rich Wall Street donors get even more rich (yet somehow OWS doesn’t protest Obama’s White House and Obama says he supports OWS message. Hypocrisy much?). But the regulations on small businesses (such as the EPA and Unions) absolutely kill jobs and Obama hasn’t done anything to help remedy the situation with small businesses and jobs overall.

  • Anonymous

No we understand what she was doing, its just that her analogy doesn’t work in this situation.

You can easily tell if Cain ‘ran over’ that woman and if she ‘died.’ Its pretty easy to distinguish that with witnesses and  checking the pulse.
In Cain’s real-life situation, there are no witnesses and you can’t just ‘tell’ if an accuser is telling the truth or lying. Shes comparing apples and oranges.
Maddow really wants to be Jon Stewart … shes just not funny enough or smart enough. Just being honest.

  • Anonymous

You are arguing a different point. Yet again you demonstrate that you do not understand what she was saying in relation to what Cain said in the debate. That’s the ridiculousness she (and others in the media) are pointing out.

  • Anonymous

No, I do understand. She’s saying that if Cain ran someone over and killed them, and then said ‘but officer, I didn’t run over 100 people’ it would be the same as this situation.

However, its a false analogy. If we knew the extent of the allegations (or if theyre true), then the analogy would be fine. But we don’t even know all of the facts of this case…
