Rep. Dana Rohrabacher Calls Chinese President Hu Jintao A “Gangster” On Parker Spitzer

video

On Parker Spitzer last night, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) told hosts Kathleen Parker and Eliot Spitzer that China should be treated as a “gangster regime that murders their own people.” Rohrbacher spoke of a history of human rights violations by China, focusing on the “ongoing repression of religion,” can specifically called out Chinese President Hu Jintao, who is currently in Washington D.C. on a diplomatic visit.

The heart of the California Republican’s comment can best be summed up when he said “There has been no reform, no liberal reform in China at all. There is no freedom of speech, no freedom of the press, no freedom of assembly. … There are no opposition parties in China. Anyone who sticks their head up in China is immediately thrown into prison.” (Transcript via)

A gangster must always wear a pocket hanky and always , always pinstripes .

Wasn’t I wonderful as my SARAHP. character last night . I love dressing up for THAT part !

KING/SARAHP. in the house . I wanted to tell my fans something about my background because many of you complain that I don ‘ t talk enough about myself . I agree and will share because I love to dish . I attended Joseph ‘ s School of Beauty in Beatrice , Nebraska , which was THE place to be in the forties . It was clear to me that make -up and fashion were going to be all the rage in the second half of the century and I wanted to be in on that ( Permanent ) wave . It was at Joseph ‘ s that I met another poster here , the delightful Armwood . Back then I actually thought Army was a bit of a foolish braggart who was condescending to others , rude and really strange ! Hard to imagine that now , I know . Actually , he does look down on those who weren ‘ t fortunate enough to attend a topflight Cosmetology institution , but that ‘ s a bee buzzing in HIS bonnet . He remains a hepcat and a snappy dresser , though . But enough about me ( and Army ) for now . ©

This is really helpful in the xenophobic Republican sense as we attempt to work with China on trade imbalances, currency corrections and human rights. I suppose we can thank All the Marys in Heaven that Rohrabacher is simply a hot-headed ideologue nobody of whom the Chinese may have never heard.

I keep thinking one day you’ll turn clever or witty, Kumquat, but, alas, you are as dull and dreary as ever.

Why did you not post yesterday in your ImNotBlue persona? You do better as a dimwit not straining to be clever.

Why do republicans always try to act like they have the biggest dick in the room but just end up being the biggest dick in the room?

During Advent just passed, I attended an Anglo Catholic/Episcopal mass with some friends. The Anglo Catholic liturgy is wonderful, so to the point, such excellent English. In the Eucharistic Prayer, the Celebrant says something like, “He stretched our his arms on the cross … a sacrifice for the entire world.” As the Celebrant said those words, I thought, if only the feminine pronouns had been used, the Celebrant could be talking about Sarah Palin.

  • paulmdoro

Maybe his words were ill-advised seeing that Jintao is currently in America, but is he wrong? I lived in China. Wonderful experience, glad I did it, so happy to live in America.

I don’t travel to China often, but I tense up as soon as I land. Shanghai, however, seems to be less tense to me that Beijing. Frankly, I think Singapore is even worse, however. Beautiful spot, but I feel like I’m perpetually in the INS/Passport Control hall at JFK the entire time I am there.

I was in a very rural area of China. Nearest major city was Shenyang.

Why is the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize winner holding a lavish state dinner honoring the jailer of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner?

  • Seeing 2012 From My Window

I was waiting for Colby to point out where he was wrong, but he didn’t. Is there a part 2 of this article on the way?

  • paulmdoro

When I arrived our host told us that the worst things that could happen to us were getting sick and needing hospitalization or getting jailed. It took this 19 year-old from New Zealand like a week to involve himself in some protest and get locked up. He was very fortunate to have our host pull some strings and get him out. Crazy place.

Obviously because he thinks it is in America’s interest.

But hey, why don’t we just let the Nobel Peace prize committee run our foreign policy. I know how much you Righty’s respect them!

Because Raygun, Poppy and W, via Big Dick, mortgaged America to the Chinese and we have to deal with them, perhaps?

Well then, we’re both disappointed. I’ve been waiting for you to apologize for bleating, kvetching, moaning and whining about the Cohen story. True to its mission, Mediaite reporting on the media reporting on Cohen almost as soon as the story began airing, yet you have still not apologized.

I was hired to help get information on his main opponent, Harriet Weider, when Rohrabacher was elected the first time.
I destroyed her. Rohrabaher was not my client but my work exposed Harriet Weider as a liar. There were several candidates running. Weider was the CHOSEN candidate by the press and the republican establishment.
At a debate she stood and pointed me out in the crowd and started to cry. It was over for her right there.

For those of you who don’t know of Ms. Weider, she was a good and decent woman, first woman mayor of Huntington Beach, first woman Supervisor for Orange County. Much of her work in Orange County involved development of the county parks and beaches and hands-on constituent services. She was greatly loved in the area, and she has recently died.

Right or wrong the tone of Rohrabacher’s remarks while President Hu is a guest of American hospitality is inappropriate to say the least.

That is the problem with his remarks imo

“Gangster regime”…is an understatement. China,is the ultimate (militarily superior) freedom snatcher on the world stage. In 5-10 years, if the planet can sustain US, we will be in the rice paddies and cotton fields of China’s bidding. They literally rear their children in an MO, Mao setup many decades ago. Robot like killing machines, with one sole purpose…to annihilate all foreign and domestic enemies of their state. A nuclear war is their cup of tea…no pun intended. Make no mistake, even with dissent on the rise, the state is in absolute control, and their one mined purpose deserves applause. They are driven and obsessively determined. In a WWIII scenario, China wins hands down.

  • Tommy is Spenc

The Representative is very wrong. Who are we to judge China? I mean, since they are not white who cares about their atrocities, oppression and lack of free speech. It’s their culture and we must be accepting of such differences – embrace the diversity of oppression and the occupation of Tibet via China. Right Colby.

Being ignorant is one thing, but to be proud of it and to win elections with it is just shameful. I remember when they were mocking BO for suggesting the should inflate their tyres to reduce fuel usage. They were actually mocking him, even though that’s the standard recommended by NASCAR. They continued to do this until they were confronted with facts. If your base isn’t that smart, surely a responsible leader would try to encourage them, not play to their naivety or stupidity.

  • Tommy is Spenc

I’m sure glad to see that there are not more China haters on here. Let’s be honest, who really gives a rats-butt about the freedom of the individual Chinese people. What’s important is that Obama doesn’t look bad no matter who he bows to.

  • Grammie

From the “via” link in Colby’s article:

“The speaker of the House, John Boehner, majority leader of the Senate, Harry Reid, and minority leader, Mitch McConnell, all declined to attend the state dinner at the White House on Wednesday night.”

I have no problem with the Chinese visit.

I do, however, cringe at the thought of giving that murderous gangster a State Dinner.

It is particularly galling considering the Dali Lama was ushered out the back door.
