Rep. David Wu Resigning From Congress Over Sexual Encounter Allegations

Video

Democratic Congressman David Wu from Oregon has announced that he will resign from office in the aftermath of allegations he made sexual advances towards an 18-year-old woman. Just 24 hours ago, Wu said he would complete his term, but now he is following in the footsteps of former Congressman Anthony Weiner by submitting his resignation.

Democratic leaders had called for an ethics investigation after the initial reports of the sexual encounter, and Wu immediately claimed that whatever occurred was consensual. However, the pressure apparently intensified around Wu, and now he stated that he will step down pending “resolution” of the debt ceiling crisis.

Ahhhhhhhh, another Dem in yet another sex scadal. Maybe Wu and Weiner can join forces and
write a new version of “How to Meet and Impress Women Liberal Style”. Special forward from the late Ted Kennedy.

At least the Dem deviants resign….

Sometimes.  I remember some guy getting caught lying to the American people, lying under oath, and somehow keeping his job.  What was his name?  Couldn’t have had too important of a job, I suppose.

    Oh, that’s right.  Bill Clinton.

    Nevermind, I guess.

We should stress that most tigers are law abiding.

Ted Kennedy, FDR, RFK, JFK, LBJ, Clinton all resigned? When did that happen?

Good riddance to this sexual predator. Why aren’t charges being filed in this case? And yet another of our fine Congressman bites the dust. Is there any decency left in Washington.  Its too much to bear anymore.

    But…what would Larry Craig do???

Probably ask you to take a seat next to him. BTW, I know this may be difficult for you to understand , but it is 2011-  not 2007 and not 2008-and Barry is president and your Weinerman and Wu just disgraced YOUR party. Deal with it.

We want to live in the present; you obviously want to live in the past.

  • Anonymous

Instead of sering out his term, he should be serving out his sentence.

To all that choose to chortle, and point to party affiliation in these crimes,
you weaken your case and become no better than these deviants.
There’s enough crime from ALL sides. Until we clean house, thing will never get better.

Taking away, all their pensions and perks should be automatic. BUT IT WON’T BE!

Now we ALL know what slimebag sexist sewer-rat bill maher will do on his next cesspool show – he’ll verbally assault and abuse the teenage female who was molested by the West-Coast version of The Weiner, d-cRAT socialist NUT-JOB Wu !!!!!!!!  And then his sick, twisted lunatic-left viewers will laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and….  [And, of course, the members of the Nation Organization for (D-cRAT Socialist Uggo) Women will also  laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and.... ]

Looks like there’s an open d-cRAT socialist spot for “olive-pit” KOOKcinich to run in if his Ohio seat is eliminated by redistricting. Even for Oregon, in general, and NUT-JOB Wu’s district, in particular, KOOKcinich would be a step down.

Crouching tiger, resigning Wu. Another liberal betrayed by his weiner.

Can’t we just admit that there are Republicans who chase tail and Democrats who chase tail?
Does one side really think the other side has the market cornered on behavior that doesn’t honor your personal moral code.

Thomas Jefferson owned slaves and had children out of wedlock. I guess that makes him a terrible president.

In other words, why don’t you worry about how they’d govern and forget the rest. Of course, we can’t do that. Republicans sit on their hands and wait for the next Democratic sex scandal to prove that Republicans are better than Democrats. Then, Democrats bide their time and wait for the next Republican sex scandal to prove that Democrats are better than Republicans.

Is this really what politics has been reduced to?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Any word when the über pervert David Vitter is going to crawl out of his diaper, leave the cathouse, go back to D.C. and resign? Or when Mitch his going to grow a chin and make the über pervert Vitter resign?

  • Anonymous

Probably the same thing “I am a gay American” Jim McGreevey would do…

Stonepark3, I think the better question by Great_1 would be “What is Ms. Wu and the 2 children going to do”?

Interesting to see where he went first, though.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Yet, you just went as far back as JFK, LBJ, RFK. No double standard here, huh?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Well, there is this thing about being charged, indicted, tried, convicted and sentenced which has to come first. Pesky Constitution!

  • Anonymous

    What would Barney Frank do?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

As irritated as I was with President Clinton, I have to say I wish we had him back. Peace and Prosperity. Not likely to see  that again in our lifetimes.

  • Anonymous

Yes it is what politics have been reduced to. By the liberal media that attack republicans when they do it, and give democrats a pass. How long did it take for the lamestream media to admit that John Edwards was a scumbag to his dying wife? Yet liberals wanted him as their VP!

The difference is called a double standard, and the liberal media perpetuates it.

What is the difference between an oath of marriage and an oath of office? A politician is going to violate one and not the other? What they lie about or coverup in their “private lives” is a good indicator of their ability to be faithful to the Constitution they swear to uphold. In BOTH parties.

  • Anonymous

His resignation is guilt enough. He did it to avoid the whole investigation, indictment (which means to bring charges against…), a public trial, and a conviction. The sentencing is a wild card he was not willing to roll the dice on, given the recent history of “public servant” behavior lately.

  • Redleaf

How about when the Right wing media (FNC, NYPost, WSJ, Drudge, Rush, Hannity, Levin, etc) attacks liberals and gives Republicans a pass.
Or does that not happen in your fantasy world where one side gets all the blame and other side is blameless?

  • Redleaf

And may I add, I don’t give two craps about a politician’s private life and to imply that only flawless politicians completely pure of heart, mind and soul and bereft of any blemish in their private behavior could possibly be faithful to the Constitution.

As mentioned above, Jefferson fathered children out of wedlock. How would you size up his ability to be faithful to the Constitution?

  • Anonymous

Vitter isn’t a pervert, he frequented hookers. Slick Willey raped women and did not resign. Guess the women got “what they asked for”, right?

  • Anonymous

What is it about congress, or the people in congress, that makes them keep digging? Did Wu not look up and see he was burying himself?

  • Anonymous

Thomas Jefferson was a DEMOCRAT, and that made him a terrible President. He set the examle for liberal ideology. Slave ownership was legal then, right? And you don’t care about a politicians private life, yet you cite TJ and his PRIVATE LEGAL LIFE in your post?

Stop giving 3 craps about TJ and his private life. If you read anything I wrote, I directed this to BOTH parties. If a man cannot be trusted to fulfill a marriage vow, he cannot be trusted to uphold the oath of office. And that goes for scumbag republicans too. It is called having Character:

“If it ever came to a choice between compromising my moral principles
and the performance of my duties, I know I’d go with my moral
    principles.”Anonymous

    H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking.

Our deeds determine us, as much as we determine our deeds.

Spare me you phony moralizing and your mindless media bashing. Your stupidity and lack of logic made you a good Marine, since you lack any critical thinking abilities. None of the issues with Edwards came out till way after the last election, when he already LOST the primaries. Ever heard of a timeline??

Such a tough guy on the internet. Do you put on your WU tiger costume when you chat here or just when you’re trying to impress the ladies?

  • ImNotBlue

Yes… we did have peace… if you ignore the USS Cole, the first trade center bombing, Somalia, Bosnia, Waco, and so on.  Ignore those, and things were great.

As for prosperity… we did have that too.  Except that came because of a new industry boom (the internet) which collapsed near the end of his term, and can be see if you analyze the numbers start to finish.  But if you ignore those facts, then things were great too!

Yep, while DEADBEAT DAD – a member of the “Family Values Party” is allowed to keep his seat.  Cong. Joe Walsh – who was elected with less than 50% of the vote (and by 2/10 of 1%)  owes over $117,000 to his exwife and the GOP/TEAPARTY leaders are silent.  Is this not the definition of hypocrisy????

  • http://twitter.com/runforfun54 Ilene K

What about Cong. Joe Walsh’s failure to pay over $117,000 in back child support? Last I checked, that’s a felony for which the average joe (no pun intended) would have his butt thrown in jail.
