Report: Katie Couric To Announce What We Already Know (She’s Leaving CBS Evening News)

There’s always a chance that the Katie Couric-is-leaving-the-evening-news story is wrong and the Donald Trump-is-running-for-president story is right, but The New York Times says we’ll finally get the answer on Couric this week, when CBS begins the process of dragging this thing out for at least two more weeks–first by confirming that Couric’s leaving, and then next week telling us that Scott Pelley‘s announcing someone as her replacement.

As the TimesBrian Stelter reports, the “meticulously arranged exit plan was described by four people with knowledge of it” and involves Couric making her statement this week and her successor being announced after Couric returns from the royal wedding. Why drag all this out? Good question, according to some CBS insiders:

Privately, some at CBS complained about the public uncertainty surrounding the “CBS Evening News.” But the exit plan will begin to clear the air.

CBS executives are interviewing candidates to be the executive producer of Mr. Pelley’s newscast, two of the people with knowledge of the plan said.

I thought she was already gone?

Don’t let the door hit you where the good lord split you….who cares.

Only Katie would require an ‘exit strategy’ for the end of her poorly thought out contract and only an organization as dysfunctional as CBS News would go along with it. After all, it is not about the news, it is all about Katie.

I have always thought of her as a lightweight. One less chipmunk to feed.

The GOOD news: the pathetic joke of a “reporter/newscaster/anchor” couric leaves.

The BAD news: the C(ertified)B(iased)S(ocialists)network will replace her with an equally biased, lying, slime-throwing, leftist hussein-loving propagandist.

Question: obviously, couric’s lips have been surgically attached to “You Lie!” hussein’s A** for some time. Will they be removed once she leaves her current job? That would free up space for the lips of her replacement, and we all know that because there are so many lamestream, socialists in the media, that particular “real estate” is highly overcrowded.

Ah yes, Scott Pelly a good replacement –one liberal lightweight replacing another liberal lightweight.

“Do you owe the Iraqi people an apology for not doing a better job?”

Could you possibly imagine Pelly asking hehimself the one such a question? Of course not. Can you imagine Pelly even reporting on the deaths of our troops in the wars of Afghanistan and Iraq under hehimself?

Why do they even bother replacing her? Their reputation is shot – they are nothing but Obama suck-ups; liberals who do nothing but read the DNC talking points on the air.

Good riddance to Katie, but replacing her with bad rubbish isn’t going to help CBS in the short or long run.

Good riddance to an egregiously bad management decision.

CBS might also review its slobbering love affair with the White House mole.

    Yawn…

Katie Couric is leaving CBS, but first Rachel Maddow wants her to come out of the closet.

Dan Rather destroyed CBS News forever. Couric is not the reason why CBS is dead — Rather is.

And there is a 99% probability that Couric’s replacement will not bring CBS back to life — there’s a better chance of reincarnating Edward R Murrow.

    Why drag all this out?

My guess is that first there was supposed to be a round of nostalgia and postmortems, plus it would allow Ms. Couric to exit with dignity and there would additional speculation about her replacement, then the focus would shift to what’s next for the broadcast.

It looks to me like they had hoped to capitalize on the anchor transition publicity and if CBS will be distributing her syndicated program — King World used to rule reality syndication and is now branded as CBS Television Distribution — they would have a stake in making Couric’s exit clean and part of a “strategy”.

Stevie Wonder could have seen this one coming.
