Palin Is ‘Quite Clear’ America Should ‘Create Law Based On The God Of The Bible’
» 60 comments
Discussing the National Day of Prayer and its detractors with Bill O’Reilly, Sarah Palin gave us her unique take on the American standard of separation of church and state. She insisted there was nothing wrong with having a national day for observing spirituality, not because there was no one religion being championed over another, but because the Founders who wrote the Constitution subscribed to Judeo-Christian beliefs, which were meant to be taken into consideration when writing laws.
O’Reilly acknowledges that “America has evolved, and we have become a much more secular nation,” even though he believes a national day to promote spirituality in any of its forms is a good thing. Palin, however, views the evolution of America from a strictly Christian nation to a religiously diverse one as “a step towards the fundamental transformation of America” and encouraged people to “keep this clean, keep it simple. Go back to what our founders and our founding documents meant– they’re quite clear– that we would create law based on the God of the Bible and the Ten Commandents, it’s quite simple.” Creating law based on a specific religion doesn’t sound at all like separation of church and state, but Palin countered that with a message to Americans that do not share her religious background: “Yay, welcome to America!”
Her interview with O’Reilly below:

The American Taliban can kiss my ass.
Thank you, Constitutional Professor Palin. FYI, the only reference to religion in the Constitution can be found in Article VI.
“…;but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States”
Thanks for playing though, hows that studying thingy working out for ya, also?
And if you don’t liket like the phrase “separation of church and state”, then blame it on Thomas Jefferson and write him out of your children history books you worthless Taliban SOBs
She’s a dumbass. I was in awe when she said that. This article missed another whopper by O’reilly who peddled the specious claim that the concepts of “good” and “bad” are based on the 10 commandments. I suppose people who lived before Moses’ time never knew any better? Ignorant Christians have this fundamental misconception that with the absence of religion, morals or humanity do not exist. Do you need to read a fucking bible or quran to know that stealing from someone else is wrong? How about killing someone? These people believe that without religion, you lack conscience and rationality.
YES YES YES!!1 This woman just makes MORE and MORE sense with each passing DAY!!1 Leviticus is FULL of GREAT IDEAS for laws that our Founding Fathers OBVIOUSLY forgot to put in the Constitution!!1 Like there should be a law against WEARING CLOTHES made of different kinds of FABRIC (19:19)!!1 Or BANISHING those who have sex during a woman’s SPECIAL LADY TIME (20:18)!!1 Or STONING ATHIESTS to death (24:14)!!1
Oh and Sarah why stop THERE?!1 Our One True God has so many GREAT LAWS it’s hard to pick a favorite but I’d have to go with one of the gems in DEUTERONOMY!!1 Like, if someone QUESTIONS GOD in a DREAM, they should be KILLED (13:5)!!1 Or if the residents of a CITY worship another god, we KILL EVERYONE THERE, even the ANIMALS (13:12)!!1 No wait, my favorite keeps it simple: KILL ANYONE with a DIFFERENT RELIGION (17:2)!!1
THESE are the laws that the Founding Patriots had in mind… the ones that SARAH PALIN will fight to uphold once she inevitably becomes President of our Once Proud Republic in 2012!!1 GO SARAH GO!!1
Sounds fine to me.
Peacemaking, not War Making:
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. [Matthew 5:9]
Resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. [Matthew 5:39]
I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despite-fully use you, and persecute you; [Matthew 5:44]
The Death Penalty:
Thou shalt not kill [Matthew 5:21]
Crime and Punishment:
If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to cast a stone at her. [John 8:7] Do not judge, lest you too be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. [Matthew 7:1 & 2.]
Justice:
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. [Matthew 5:6] Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy [Matthew 5:7]
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. [Matthew 6:15]
Corporate Greed and the Religion of Wealth:
In the temple courts [Jesus] found men selling cattle, sheep and doves and other sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. [John 2:14 & 15.]
Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. [Luke 12.15.]
Truly, I say unto you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. [Matthew 19:23]
You cannot serve both God and Money. [Matthew 6:24.]
Paying Taxes & Separation of Church & State:
Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s. [Matthew 22:21]
Community:
Love your neighbor as yourself. .[Matthew 22:39]
So in everything, do to others as you would have them do to you. [Matthew 7:12.]
If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.
[Matthew 19:21]
Equality & Social Programs:
But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just. [Luke 14:13 &14.]
Public Prayer & Displays of Faith:
And when thou pray, thou shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But thou, when thou pray, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret… [Matthew 6:6 & 7]
Strict Enforcement of Religious Laws:
If any of you has a son or a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? [Matthew 12:11]
The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. [Mark 2:27.]
That stuff reads like SOCIOFASCIST PROPAGANDA, JamesA!!1 EXACTLY the reason we need more Conservative interpretations of the BIBLE!!1 I am SICK of the old argument that Jesus was all about PEACE and BROTHERHOOD and against GREED and VANITY!!1 This is why I stick to the OLD TESTAMENT!!1
Now DingDong1616 – THAT is a Dogma I can GET BEHIND!!1 ALL HAIL the mighty Ed Har Dy J-a-c-k-e-t!!1
That’s GOLD karl !!!!!!!!222 GOLD !!!!!!!2
She’s such an idiot, with no basic understanding of US history. The US is based on the Constituion, not the Bible.
Wow what a shame asshat Palin doesn’t know that the majority if not all, of the Founding Fathers were deists and NOT Christians.
Wow, these are really great soundbites ensuring dumbass Palin will never hold higher office again.
Thanks Sarah!!!
Frances,
Ok I have to ask. You seem to post compulsively things that are said on Fox, which I don’t mind, but you fail to mention the other networks. On MSNBC, Tamaran Hall was discussing a conspiracy theory today that the policeman that got shot a few days ago in AZ(you may have missed it, it seems like most of the media did. ), was a hoax meant to garner support the for AZ immigration bill. But I can see how disecting every word out of Palin’s mouth is more important. I mean you guys were all over Michael Brown’s theories. Keep up the great work!!
Dear Sarah,
Keep talking. And by talking I mean digging your own political grave.
Dear Fox News,
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, and also thank you for continuing to put Palin on the air at every opportunity. Every interview, every soundbite, every retarded show she hosts…just keeps adding to the massive compilation of stupidity that will come back to haunt her should she be so dumb as to run for President.
Love,
Everyone
Good God she’s a moron. Can someone tell me how she is able to make a gaffe as a fox commentator on fox? That seems damn near impossible.
“Ok I have to ask.”
No. You really don’t.
You can comment on the topic instead.
Buuuuuutttt.. the bible is just a story written by an aspiring writer like 2000 years ago… so we should create law based on a bedtime story?
OUR ANCIENT MAGIC BOOK IS MORE RIGHT THAN YOUR ANCIENT MAGIC BOOK!!1
That’s GOLD karl !!!!!!!!2!2 GOLD !!!2!!!!2
As one of the authors who popularized the term “Dominionism” (along with Sara Diamond, and Fred Clarkson), I feel some obligation to clear up this confusion, which stems from some very sloppy research posted on a number of websites where the terms “Dominionism,” “Dominion Theology,” and “Christian Reconstructionism” are used improperly and interchangeably.

I think that Palin has a good chance to be tapped on the shoulder to take a leadership role in her party. To that end, dropping out of the governorship early is wise. There is one key factor that so many of the leading Republicans has which she needs to add to her resume.
I figure 1 year to have the tawdry affair, a weepy public apology, 1 year out of the spotlight and she will be ready to start campaigning for the 2012 election.

Wow, there is a lot of hate for Christianity in these comments. I know its a crime to be Sara Palin, but is it now a crime to be a Christian? Didn’t the crap against Muslims and Sikhs after 9/11 show us that behavior like this is bad.
The Drop Out Governor of Alaska has given us much food for thought.
Are we speaking of the God in the Hebrew Old Testament or the God in the Koine? I suspect that this may not be the case, as I rather doubt DOGA speaks or reads any language other than a mangled form of North American English. Might we use a translation? If so, are we limited to the KJV? DOGA seems like a King James kind of girl. Of course, DOGA might get confused by “thee”, “thou”, “whilst” and the like. RSV? That is usually safe. And, do we or do we not include the varying canons used by the RC’s and the C of E? I do so hope we might. As often, DOGA says much, by volume, but leaves so much to be said, by content.
Seems like no one commenting on what Sarah Palin said heard what Sarah Palin said. Just the usual knee jerks.
Oh, and as usual, the person posting the clothing ad makes more sense then TRRK.
I think this will be useful as more than 60% of the nation’s 60 million evangelicals believe that the Bible is literally true, every last word of it, and more than a third believe the end of the world will occur in their lifetime.

As an atheist this goes against my grain but each and every night, I say a prayer that she is the republican nominee for president in ‘12. Keep those tweets coming, Sarah.
“Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear.”
-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, August 10, 1787
Good for her that she gets a platform on Mediaite.
I’m assuming you all would include President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in your membership roster of “American Taliban” as well?

Yes imagine the outrage if they were all slamming islam. It’s OK, God warned us this would come. That’s my little mediatite tweak, as rush would say. I just had to put it on for all of the libs. Bring it!
No hate for Christianity. We are not a religious state. And the CONSTITUTION supports that. If there was a hate of Chrisitianity there would be no churches. This Palin mindset gives a hideout to those who will hide behind God and be the scum of the earth.
Pray any time you want. Just honor the Constitution. Where are all the Constitutional blowhards now? The ones that have been beating the drum saying this administration is in violation of the constitution.
Will someone pay her another 12M and send her back to ALaska? PLEASE!!!! I hear it is bear season…

“…Pray any time you want. Just honor the Constitution. Where are all the Constitutional blowhards now? The ones that have been beating the drum saying this administration is in violation of the constitution.”
And what is it you think these people should be saying?
@JZGIRL…what part of the CONSTITUTION supports what you are saying? The only mention of religion in the constitution says that no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification for holding public office.
I think a lot of liberals are clinging to their “seperation of church and state” talking points, and they don’t even understand what that really means.
I am no fan of Palin, but the obsession of the left for her is pathetic!
Palin said the national day would champion no one religion over another. But it doesn’t matter. Palin said it, so she has to be blasted for it. How dare she mention that the founding fathers believed in God and mentioned him frequently! They were Deists for the most part, not Christians for God’s sake! And while we’re at it, let’s take that offensive “In God We Trust” motto off of our money. How offensive! This is an outrage!
I think a lot of liberals are clinging to their “seperation of church and state” talking points, and they don’t even understand what that really means.
You couldn’t be more right. It’s like the immigration bill, they twist it to support their template and just expect the rest of us to accept it’s correct. Maybe their mindless minions will, but those of us with a brain won’t

Actually, I think most of us do, Michelle. The Constitution grants power and protection to people by limiting the government. In this case, it means not allowing the government to make an established order of religion, for example the Church of England, as it once was. A corollary to no establishment is free exercise of belief. The problem with rightists is that they fail to draw a proper line between belief and practice. Polygamy is a very good example of that. Another would be laws prohibiting the wholesale slaughter of “gentiles” to honor good. Mountain Meadow is a good example of that.
” The Constitution grants power and protection to people by limiting the government. ” That sentence right there should be continually read to liberals. The growth of govt is out of hand and needs to be limited!
Sorry King, you aren’t going to draw me into a conversation on religion so you can make back-handed comments about my religion.
Now Michelle, would the King ever insult or stereotype anyone he disagrees with? And while the constitution does prohibit establishment of any one religion over another, the term ’separation of church and state’ isn’t in there. That was Jeffersnon’s warning against establishing a religion. I could see it being unfair if someone said, ‘Let’s make Christianity the national religion’. Palin wasn’t saying that. But hey, the left hates her, so let’s pretend she did.
Don’t get me wrong, Michelle, I was very much opposed to the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition as well. All churches fall far, far short from the glory of God, as do all people.
The nation has some obligation to keep churches from acting in such a fashion as to prevent them from denyng others the free exercise.
This highlights the difference between Palin and the Democrats — they want to create laws based on Lucifer of the Bible!
Wow!! Palin doesn’t know that the majority if not all, of the Founding Fathers, were deists and NOT Christians. Wow, she has NO idea about what the U.S. Constitution.
Palin, whoa what a MORON.
^^^^ lmao
Don’t go there, Texican. I thought everyone knew that most of our founding fathers were Deists until the rightists infested us.
Other than Jefferson who were the rest of the “Deists”
Gouverner Morris of Pennsylvania did most of the actual writing of the constitution, and he was a rational theist, a mixture of deism and Christianity based more on nature than revelation. But what’s more important here is that a dumb, irrelevant woman who has no chance of ever holding public office get the left’s panties in such a bunch. Now that’s entertainment!
Yup. Let’s throw in some additional apostles of the God Racket. That moral slum occupied by preachers, priests, archbishops, gurus, divine fuhrers, corn-pone messiahs, grand wizards, various other intellectual renegades. All those things necessary to make God our very own Bitch!
@Vcaver
Benjamin Franklin was a Deist, Thomas Paine was an atheist, George Washington may have been a Deist and it’s believed that John Adams may have been an atheist.
You’ll find that not all or even the majority of the founding fathers weren’t Christians but that the most widely and influential known were the least religious or most outspoken against organized religion.
I guess Bill O and Sarah never read the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli where in Article 11 the “founding fathers” clearly and unanimously voted that we were in no way founded on the Christian Religion. Why do the fundies wish to rewrite history? There is a legal treaty, passed unanimously by congress, printed in 3 papers of the day with no controversy, that unambiguously states we are NOT a Christian Nation. Is there any other legal document, passed by congress in the early days of our country which states that we are?? Thought not.
I guess no one commenting on this video has read the First Amendment in awhile. So, here you go, I’ve brought it straight to you. The first two clauses are the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause. Together they are referred to as the Religion Clauses.
“Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
If you would like some more interesting things to research with regard to the separation of church and state, see the following:
1.) The Treaty of Tripoli, 1797, “As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,” 1797
2.) Letter from Thomas Jefferson, 1802, “Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.”
3.) Letter from James Madison, 1822, “And I have no doubt that every new example will succeed, as every past one has done, in shewing that religion & Govt will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together.”
“the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion”
– Treaty of Tripoli (1797), carried unanimously by the Senate and signed into law by John Adams
Also, God isn’t mentioned ONE SINGLE TIME in our Constitution or Bill of Rights. If the founders wanted to establish a Christian nation you think they would’ve mentioned Jesus at some point. And no the Bill of Rights aren’t based on Christian morals. This is why Sarah Palin and Bill O’Reilly are complete morons.
Sarah Palin articulates it very well . . . in spite of her detractors who ridicule her and call her names. Liberals are good at doing that. Gracious I guess you would call it because she addresses every issue with rational arguments and sound thought processes. What ever else she does or is to her detractors, you have to like what she did in Alaska. That is her badge of honor and her right to speak to Americans across the political spectrum. The proof of her metal resides in Alaska and I will bet you a dollar to a doughnut Alaskans like it!!
Palin speaks, the left blows another gasket.
Priceless!
hey’re quite clear that we would create law based on the God of the Bible and the 10 commandments, it’s pretty simple.” I think we should kind of keep this clean, keep it simple, go back to what our founders and our founding documents meant. They’re quite clear that we would create law based on the God of the Bible and the 10 Commandments.
Houston personal injury
while i am embarrassed by her ignorance as a woman & appalled by her advocation of violence as an ends to a mean, i am ‘STUCK’ in a place where i must defend my GOD & RELIGION from frenzied hateful athiests who attack it simply because they know she is a staunch believer & has a christian values ‘agenda’…
*shaking head*
whether you don’t like palin or not, why does this so easily translate into an attack on religion/god as a whole from the left? i generally consider myself to be a liberal as far as government is concerned but whenever the attacks on religion start, the abject hatred from the ‘left’ puts me smack in a position where i am disgusted w/the people i have on most other issues, sided with.
5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matthew 6:5-6
Looks like Sarah Palin does not read the Bible very well.
America’s future rape law
“If a man happens to meet a virgin woman who is not engaged to be married and he seizes her and rapes her but is caught in the act the rapist must pay the girl’s father fifty silver shekels she must marry the rapist, because he has violated her. And so long as he lives, he may not divorce her.” Deuteronomy 22:29
I cannot believe the crap she has spewed for over the past two years, and Bill shame on you for backing Sara. Have they not heard of the Treaty of Tripoli! James Madison “Every new & successful example therefore of a perfect separation between ecclesiastical and civil matters, is of importance. And I have no doubt that every new example, will succeed, as every past one has done, in showing that religion & Govt. will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together… We are teaching the world the great truth that Govts. do better without Kings & Nobles than with them. The merit will be doubled by the other lesson that Religion flourishes in greater purity, without than with the aid of Govt.”
This is what our founding Four Fathers wanted. You cannot change history and twist the words written by our Presidents. She quoted “ Yay, Welcome to America!” makes her sound like the true moron. She preaches tolerance. What is there to tolerate, the fact that not all people pray to her god, or pray at all? That is not tolerance it is boarder line hatred. All we need is to draw another segregation line between Americans. We do not need another holiday or a day to pray. Thomas Jefferson wrote “Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God…”
That sounds good. But if it was sincere.
