People all throughout the music industry have been speaking fondly of and sharing their memories of the late pop singer Whitney Houston, and on CNN last night, Simon Cowell said he would always remember where he was when he heard the news, expressing how painful the loss was for not just the industry, but the world. Cowell said he was “absolutely devastated” by the news, remembering her as “one of the greatest voices in our lifetime.”

Piers Morgan asked Cowell where in the great pantheon of singers Houston should be remembered. Cowell admitted that Houston was one of the singers contemporary artists and aspiring vocalists always wanted to emulate. Morgan brought up the “tragedy” that was Houston’s drug abuse, but Cowell said that even when it looked like she had been abusing drugs, she still came across as “charming” and delivered a great performance.

Dead?  Kevin Costner must be the worst bodyguard ever.

I’m surprised he didn’t say she was “ghastly.”

    More great liberal logic:

” Singer Tony Bennett isn’t just a liberal, he’s an embarrassing liberal who says the wrong thing at the wrong time. The Hollywood Reporter passes along that at the pre-Grammy
bash of record producer Clive Davis, Bennett took the news of Whitney Houston’s untimely death as an occasion for a political statement demanding America legalize drugs like the Netherlands.

“First it was Michael Jackson, then Amy Winehouse, now, the magnificent Whitney Houston,” he began. “I’d like every person in this room to campaign to legalize drugs.”

    But it gets worse.

“Let’s legalize drugs like they did in Amsterdam,” he continued. “No one’s hiding or sneaking around corners to get it. They go to a doctor to get it.”

Yes Tony, why not say that tonight at the Grammy awards.

Fame poisons everything it touches. It steals identity, and turns its victims into compliant idiots.  Slaves to their fans and the media merchants who peddle their talents until they are spent and useless.  Every second of their lives is measured in dollars, and no sense.  Whitney Houston, was murdered.  That’s right…murdered by those very rogue elements in the industry and the public that care little about the life of the artist, and more about the bottom line for themselves.  Her fans, dedicated as long as there were no cracks in her style and performance.  Another casualty of slop culture.  And now, we’ll listen to a slew of bullshit eulogies from those who loved her when she filled their pockets and stadiums, but were no where to be found as she spiraled into death’s embrace.
Bye bye, Whitney…”the beat goes on…” and many more frail and unknowing victims will join you in that insatiable quest for glory which has only one color…green.

Take a look at this as emblematic of the incredible talent she was:Whitney Houston – One Moment In Time(Grammy Awards Live)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

By far, the best single performance of any Grammy show.

    An apt tribute, as
opposed to her Hollywood colleagues partying through the night while her body lay
still warm just a few floors up.

     They should.
Having alcohol legal but marijuana illegal is incongruent logic.

They should absolutely make a nationwide appeal tonight for at least legalization of pot, then they can determine the status of more powerful substances.

Whitney Houston was at one time such a great singer she could sing superbly on her own with no backup whatsoever.    Unfortunately her golden voice wasn’t enough for her to not to use illegal drugs.  To me it shows that even with fame,  professional accomplishments  its no guarantee of happiness.  Of not needing something more to ease the emotional pain of such a fickle industry.  In a business bipolar in its nature.  One moment fame as high as the sky.  The next the depths of the public acting if you don’ t even exist.  Wonder how  many years the new artists on the Grammy’s fame will last?   On the other hand being famous there was much more opportunity to get her hands on such dangerous substances.   To be in the company of those who likewise indulge.  Just one more statement.  There are countless number of persons who abuse drugs.  They are victims too.
