SNL Imagines Parker/Spitzer With Twice The Disgraced Former NY Governors
Hard to believe, but there is a name for a talk show that’s more ungainly and unimaginative than “Parker/Spitzer.” In a sketch that played on the recent rumors of strife surrounded the poorly rated CNN show, SNL aired a segment depicting Eliot Spitzer‘s hypothetical search for a new co-anchor: “Parker/Amanpour,” “Parker/Klum” and “Parker/Paterson” are all tested as possible candidates.
Nasim Pedrad plays a schoolmarmish Christiane Amanpour, with an extremely annoying Gwyneth Paltrow as Heidi Klum, and Fred Armisen reprising his somewhat controversial role as the recently out-of-work Governor David Paterson. This was the best political sketch of the evening, though measured purely in terms of water cooler-buzz, it probably won’t be enough to compete with last night’s Pee Wee Herman juggernaut.
