Yes we invaded Iraq on lies and yes Mona I know Eisenhower's farewell address too but thanks for calling me a moron I know about Hallibuton and critize the Bush administration all the time about it. Thanks for calling me uniformed. Do people capitilize off of war, yes. Do we have people who take advantage of war to make a more than a few million dollars...only have to look at blackwater for that one. But both of jumped on me because I dont think all of the GOP wants war to make a buck. To broadly say that is insane. Most wars are fought over ideology with people taking advantage of the war to be war profiters. Do you honestly think members of the GOP dont care about the American lives being lost as long as the make a few extra dollars? The insult is not on me for not being informed but on those that feel the other side of the isle is pure evil and out to ruin the nation. And yes that goes for Dems as well as the GOP

I guess making up facts and figures would be better than having a little proof behind an opinion...Information is what one is supposed to base an opinion on and thats what you do with information. Call me an elitist if you wish or whatever else comes to mind but saying I think I am holier than thou means what? Do you disagree with what I said? You may not like how I said it, thats fine but tell me what you disagree with? Tell me where I went wrong in my facts or in my opinion. I know personal insults, polite as they may be, are easier than debating on whether the world is black and white or a little more complacated esp when it comes to the middle east and forgein policy. I would like your debate more if it wasnt based on a pointless "you think your better than everyone else" retort. If you are going to call me dumb and say I know nothing of the world outsided my front door, back it up. Thats how one actually has a debate and conversation.

@ SlyFox, the issue with wanting to "save" people is that most us do not need to be saved. What you really want to do is convert people, so why don't you just call it what it truly i?. I am not a Christian, I am not an athiest and I sure as hell don't need to be saved by the likes of you, who are full of hate (re: your comment on gay people).

I wish people would stop debating the issue of 9/11 in terms of liberals vs. conservatives. I don't believe this is an issue based on a right or left wing idelology. Can we just say that we were attacked by Islamic extemists. It's our democracy that the terrorists were and are afraid of and what it does to their violant agenda. It's been that way for generations under left and right leaning administrations. Can't we just agree that this was a horrific act brought unto our shores and that we all should condemn it, never forget it, and fight it on every corner. If we can't agree on that as a nation, then what the **** is the point.

Yes, isn't it it funny that liberals can always find defense and military spending cuts? Don't defense contractors produce jobs, high tech jobs? Isn't the military "shovel ready" jobs for many without skills? Haven't they had decades upon decades of experience training and teaching life skills and all types of expertise to Americans in all types of professions with an infrastructure already in place? Of all the government spending programs, I think we get way more bang for the buck (no pun intended) with military training and skill building from our military. Hell, they might even learn such things as discipline and honor.

You make several points on each side of the military defense discussion. I haven't seen anything pathetic about the infrastructure on a national level. Maybe some localities are behind and want the rest of the USA to bail them out. National Defense must be flawless in many people eyes but they dont want to spend to make it flawless. On the other hand, as you pointed out with your signature, hypocrites (maybe not you) have slogans to scream out at others who are getting the piece of the pie but won't give up their own unearned entitlements that they have control over.

I am certain you know that USA projected power, rolled over the discernible 'enemy' and then keep a useful presence in helping the countries build to stabilize themselves. I'm sure Obama would have pulled out of those countries if it were at all feasible.

Politicians grab money for jobs for the people who vote them in. The component of 'selection' of the next candidates is the big money people. So money gets our candidates, money tries to shape our perceptions of the candidates, and giving jobs/money to voters seals the deal. It so happens that the defense industry provides jobs at all levels of citizens, pushes technology for war and civil society, and does produce the military tools. Even a small business has incredible waste of money and time, why wouldn't the defense industry?

I do wonder about the polarizing positions you stated in your post. Do you really mean to say that we should stay out of war but if we do go to war, level the country, kill everyone, and then leave? Just wasn't sure if you had that balance or if you were totally one way or the other.

p.s. watch your language.

If you notice, they are purposeful retorts at the level or one level sillier than of the silly poster. There are more levels at play than the surface neener neener neener that you can recognize. Thank you for noticing. The reason for the satire is to point it out for the people on the edge who might believe the original silly post. It may not be your cup of tea to engage them on their level and that is ok. We'll both continue with our day on the various levels called for. :) Have a great one.

The Constitution really states freedom of religion not freedom from religion. The government may not make a person worship one specific relgion but cannot prevent a citizen from practicing their religion. God gives people free will to choose their own path so you have every right not to choose any religion or to choose God. Christians just want to be free to choose their own path as the Constitution provides.

No but gay people want to flaunt their actions in front of our kids and encourage it. And they do teach atheism in schools. They teach it as an alternative to other religions. I know this from attending college and because my daughter is in school and what she brings home as homework can also be called propaganda. Christians only want to be able to worship God; we do not tax people we only want to save people. What is the harm of a Christian believer wanting the saving Grace of God to benefit all? It always amazes me how people who do not believe fight so fiercely and object so strongly to Christians displaying their faith when atheist do not even believe God exists. If God does not exist why bother to say so?

I sure wish I completed school so I could see when they stopped teaching atheism and embraced other theories as well. :) Read the post that was responded to. The strawman was that society exists in tiny exclusive 'spaces' and that religions tax their people. Going with their premise, it was called out as false. The word 'flaming' was not a reference to gay people. Of course your point of non-religious people not consistently interfering other peoples' lives is just a blind spot for many people. Even religious people interfere in other peoples' lives in many many secular ways. It's not a strictly religion thing.

What an infantile logical error.

1. Some Nazis drove Volkswagens.

2. Everyone driving Volkswagens was a Nazi.

If you can't see the problem here, you need remedial schooling.

Grow up. We invaded Iraq on the basis of lies. Anyone who's still denying this has no place voting or weighing in on issues of gravity in the U.S. Your failure to inform yourself stands as an insult to your country and yourself.

Yes, invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 and no weapons of any significance was a brilliant "projection of power." Oh, and the fact that in almost a decade we still haven't succeeded surely enhances our rep around the planet. Not to mention that we sent Americans to die for the Bush administration's LIES. Lies that have been revealed on the world stage. No "WMD". Fake "intelligence."

Our moronic arrogance has also served us well. Remember how we were going to cow the enemy with "shock and awe"? What a disgraceful embarrassment to our nation. As were the "adults" in Congress crowing about "freedom fries" because another country dared to take issue with our stupidity. Let's see, we make fun of the French for surrendering, and then berate them for standing up for themselves. Those are the actions of a clueless bully.

The last decade has shown the world that the U.S. is NOT the military force they most likely believed it was before. Flailing around half-assedly in the Middle East is not "projecting power." That's revealing our vulnerability and ineptitude. We can't even get basic intelligence right most of the time.

Oh yeah, and that oh-so-valuable military spending? It goes to things like tanker planes that nobody wants, and other obsolete programs that will be scrapped before ever being deployed. Why? Because come contractor is paying our "representatives" handsomely, and some senator is pandering to his home state where useless military hardware is made. We'd be way better off simply paying those workers to fix our pathetic infrastructure, rather than building crap we don't need.

What could we have accomplished with the vast amount of money WASTED in Iraq? And where does much of that money go? To Halliburton, a company that moved overseas to dodge taxes. Where's your outrage about that?

Hypocrite.

Schools don't teach atheism. If you'd completed school you might know that.

You'd also know that what you attempted is a pathetic strawman. It's an easily observable fact that it's the "religious" people that consistently try to interfere in people's lives, not the other way around. You don't see gay people trying to tell Mormons whom they can marry, or what they can do with their bodies, or anything else really.

So far it looks like we supply a week long TV celebration event for the terrorists to watch and relive the joy of the fruits of their attack. Great for their recruiting. We should be producing a week long USA military might and politician/citizen resolve marathon to show how we can and will cram our military might down their throats as long as it takes. Instead we let them hear and read what 'expose your belly' idiots say about 'chatting with terrorists' and gutting our defense by using congressional budgets.

ACLU 9/11 Anniversary Report Warns of Threat to American Freedom and Security Posed by Counterterrorism Policies Since Attacks
Report, "A Call to Courage: Reclaiming Our
Liberties Ten Years After 9/11," Details Dangers of Establishing
Permanent War Footing
 WASHINGTON - September 7 - A decade after the September 11th
attacks, the United States is at risk of enshrining a permanent state of
emergency in which the nation's core values are subordinated to
ever-expanding claims of national security, the American Civil Liberties
Union warns in a new report released today.

"A Call to Courage: Reclaiming Our Liberties Ten Years After 9/11,"
shows how sacrificing America's values – including justice, individual
liberty and the rule of law – ultimately undermines the country's
safety. "It is our fundamental values that are the very foundation of
our strength and security," the report says.

"We have titled it 'A Call to Courage,' because we believe that a
defining element of our national identity – embodied in our national
anthem’s pairing of 'the land of the free' with 'the home of the brave' –
has been imperiled by our leaders' promotion of (or capitulation to) a
politics of fear," the report explains.

It challenges the contention that the U.S. is engaged in a "war on
terror" that takes place everywhere and will last forever, and that
therefore counterterrorism measures cannot be balanced against any other
considerations such as maintaining civil liberties. America has become
an international legal outlier in invoking the right to use lethal force
and indefinite military detention outside battle zones, the report
says, and these policies have hampered the international fight against
terrorism by straining relations with allies and handing a propaganda
tool to enemies.

Taking on the legacy of the Bush administration's torture policy, the
report warns that the lack of accountability leaves the door open to
future abuses. "Our nation's official record of this era will show
numerous honors to those who authorized torture – including a
Presidential Medal of Freedom – and no recognition for those, like the
Abu Ghraib whistleblower, who rejected and exposed it," it notes.

The report details how profiling based on race and religion has
become commonplace nationwide, with the results of such approaches
showing just how wrong and ineffective those practices are. "Targeting
the American Muslim community for counterterrorism investigation is
counterproductive because it diverts attention and resources that ought
to be spent on individuals and violent groups that actually pose a
threat," the report says. "By allowing – and in some cases actively
encouraging – the fear of terrorism to divide Americans by religion,
race, and belief, our political leaders are fracturing this nation’s
greatest strength: its ability to integrate diverse strands into a
unified whole on the basis of shared, pluralistic, democratic values."

Concluding with the massive expansion of surveillance since 9/11, the
report delves into the many ways the government now spies on Americans
without any suspicion of wrongdoing, from warrantless wiretapping to
cell phone location tracking – but with little to show for it. "The
reality is that as governmental surveillance has become easier and less
constrained, security agencies are flooded with junk data, generating
thousands of false leads that distract from real threats," the report
says.

The report points out that many controversial policies have been
shrouded in secrecy under the rubric of national security, preventing
oversight and examination by the public. "We look to our leaders and our
institutions, our courts and our Congress, to guide us towards a better
way, and it is now up to the American people to demand that our leaders
respond to national security challenges with our values, our unity –
and yes, our courage – intact."

People
wanting the memorials conducted on the anniversary of 9/11 need to
embrace this if they are serious..... show the jumpers. If the families
want us to remember the horror.... show the jumpers. Let us hear the
audio of the bodies hitting the ground. Play the sound. Show the
jumpers. 2 minutes of the sights and sounds of the jumpers will bring
all generations up to the horror of that day.

It appears to me that the workers in the defense industry are conservative and the top executives are democrats. Therefore, everyone wins, the democrats get all the money from big profits and the conservative workers get a living wage (after paying big taxes to the sloth democrats and insurance premiums for other peoples pet projects like domestic partnerships) by working for a living. The only ones wanting to kill the defense industry are the crazy, treasonist, liberal democrats.
