I’ve always been somewhat bothered by every White House’s ignorance of current pop culture. I realize that the President is busy and maybe their Press Secretaries have a lot on their plates, but the rest of us — those they govern — we live in a pop culture world and it’d be kind of nice, if they were aware of what we’re seeing and hearing at any given time.

I have to hand it to the people in the Press Corp. They keep trying, on a daily basis, to get this smarmy little creep to answer legitimate questions and he either smirks, laughs or refers them to some other department. This dipwad is an embarrassment to this Administration and they are too stupid to realize it.

I think the funniest thing about V is that the guy who developed and wrote V is very liberal and a supporter of Obama’s.

Obviously the Obama supporters who felt attacked by the *comparisons* in V to Obamabots were feeling a little paranoid, guilty as charged…or vain? Why else would they see themselves in something that wasn’t intended?

The author, Mr. Peters, is not some evil sleeper right-winger/Obama hater. If he’s a mole for some right-wing conspiracy he may be the most committed spy ever. Mr. Peters, who was born in Canada, recently became an American citizen; a process he tried to expedite so he could vote for Mr. Obama, a deadline he missed by two days.”

Comparisons are apt or they’re not. I find for most people, the word Nazi evokes images of the Third Reich as it existed from 1933 to 1945. If that comparison were accurate, we’re already in too deep. Worthy of study would be the Nazi Party’s rise to power from 1924 (when the first Nazis were elected into Parliament), until von Hindenburg appointed Hitler Chancellor in January 1933. Let’s not forget that the Nazis up until that point were elected by the voters. By 1933 the Nazi Party had a plurality of democratically elected members in the German Parliament.Ironically, Hitler was the one Nazi who wasn’t elected. But it only took him one year to politically maneuver his power and position to become “der Fuhrer.” This is where the Nazi timeline begins for a lot of people. christmas stocking fillers

Brian Lowry of Variety has comment from “V” executive producer Jeffrey Bell on this from back in the summer:

“Look, there are always going to be people who will look for agendas in everything. This show was conceived during the Bush administration. It got executed in an Obama administration. There are people on either sides of the aisle who can find things. You can say,’Yeah, look how stupid these people are for following blindly and believing everything the government is saying,’ and you can have people who are upset about that. And you can have other people saying,’Look at these people who are promising everything at no cost, and look, they are leading them to their own doom.’ And so, for us, both sides have strengths and weaknesses. … But to try to tie it to the birthers or anything, I find, is kind of, you know, ridiculous.”

It is ridiculous to think that “V” is about Obama. Flat-out. But it’s becoming noisy, and when things become noisy, they get attention, and they get asked about. Though frankly I’m concerned about the non-denial from the White House about whether or not Obama is an alien lizard.
