LIVE STREAM

Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution requires, “from time to time,” for the President to give Congress information of the State of the Union, and recommend, “such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” Tuesday night at 9 p.m., President Barack Obama will do just that. Sustained rounds of applause will follow nearly every sentence, standing ovations will arise on partisan lines, and cameras will dramatically zoom in on reaction from members of both parties.

For the live stream of tonight’s address, watch below at 9pm Eastern:

Here it comes, the Divide-America Campaign Speech!

Obama may be the first President who HATES a majority of the country he “governs” over!

Democrats = Generational Welfare & Fatherless Households

GOP = Two-Parent Family, Family Planning & Evolving Society

I’m up for a good ole fashion political fantasy…

  • Anonymous

Why does it matter how other people you don’t know live their lives?

  • http://mcstumpy.myopenid.com/ Stumpy McGrumpy

Looking at the charts on income inequality, it’s pretty far-fetched to say that it’s the President who’s dividing the country. The wealthy say, “We deserve special tax breaks, and we deserve to get richer while everyone else gets poorer, but if you call any attention to what we’re doing, we’ll accuse you of dividing America!”  Sheer idiocy.

the Housewives of Atlanta will be better than listening to this incompetent lecture us on redistribution of the wealth.  No thanks.  I’ll read TC and his verbal bj take on it later.

  • Gloves Dash Donahue

This time next year, this man may be an antique picker, searching the backroads of America for rusty gold.
Or he may be buying abamdoned storage lockers, looking for merchandise to sell at the Hyde Park Swap Meet.
Or, he may open a pawn shop in Downers Grove, making money off the broken dreams of Obama’s America, Or…

    ‘`GOP = Two-Parent Family, Family Planning & Evolving Society’

Does that include Newt Gingrich and his mistresses?

…Well, now you’re just making things up.

    Not being very serious!

  • Anonymous

So quit whining about it and ask the politicians who you vote for to overhaul the whole broken tax system instead of just putting a surcharge on top of a broken system.

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

Steve Grammatico gives dusty relics a new lease on life.

  • Pablo

If China is getting so expensive, when is Jeff Immelt going to bring some jobs home?

  • Pablo

    Yeah! Unless they’re productive.

  • DoNotMindMe

The point is that kids that grow up with only 1 parent are at a much greater risk for many social problems.

  • DoNotMindMe

Who do you think pays for welfare?

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

“Just let me keep spending money we don’t have on the same programs that have never worked before….  I will give more speeches like this one that will make it all sound new again….  I promise.”

  • Anonymous

    Let The ObamaGasms Begin !!!

  • Anonymous

Alito didn’t come this year, can’t say that I blame him.

  • Anonymous

    You don’t say…

Strangely, that has very little to do with a family’s political affiliation. It has more to do with educational, environmental(Social), financial and employment circumstances.

‘The point is that kids that grow up with only 1 parent are at a much greater risk for many social problems.’ DoNotMindMe

Possibly, but it is not definitive, although it sounds more like a stereotyping generalization…

    …Be serious!

  • Pablo

There will be no more bailouts!

Hey, how about that auto bailout? That was awesome!

  • Anonymous

Hmm, perhaps if rich people paid more, you wouldn’t have to pay so much.

  • Anonymous

I’m glad I got rid of the Royal Clunker when I had the chance…now what to do with all that cash.

  • Anonymous

So government should REGULATE the family?  Sounds like “social socialism” to me.

  • Anonymous

Hmm, perhaps if people weren’t abusing the system, we could all pay less !!

  • Anonymous

    Please elaborate.

  • Anonymous

I don’t care who you say he is…it’s still damn funny !!

  • Anonymous

Hmm, people will always find a way to abuse any system, but reforming the tax code would greatly ease how much you and I are victimized by these abusers.

  • Anonymous

So We Agree !!  Flat Tax Now !!

  • DoNotMindMe

Realize the end game that will inevitably result by making the rich pay more taxes.

If today we say “The **rich** must pay more taxes so we can fund welfare programs” then tomorrow it will be “The **rich** must pay more taxes so that we can build more roads**” then the next day “The rich must pay more taxes so we can fix the education system”
It leads to a never ending cycle of reckless government spending with the rich footing the whole bill. I don’t think that’s fair on principle!

I say we make sure that the government and our citizens are BOTH responsible and competent so that we don’t need to keep throwing money at programs that can be fixed with a little bit of hard work and competency.

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

What’s funny is that Steve is likely to be handing out free insults and bigotry in his twilight years while Obama leads the nation toward full recovery and further from Republican mismanagement. Steve gives dusty relics a new lease on life.

  • Anonymous

Flat federal plus state?  Flat period?  What about state’s rights?  Capital gains the same as payroll?  Is that a free market?

  • Anonymous

Stutterin_Jack is correct. The liberals want the income tax increased for the rich not realizing that the tax bracket is already higher. It is the write offs and the taxes on other income sources that gives the rich the breaks. The entire code needs to be redone and putting a stop to the breaks and dodges. The whole system is broken.

  • Anonymous

“I say we make sure that the government and our citizens are BOTH
responsible and competent so that we don’t need to keep throwing money
at programs that can be fixed with a little bit of hard work and
    competency”

    Komrade?

  • Gloves Dash Donahue

Just found out, Gloves. The Royal Obamas are opening an ice cream/shrimp stand at the Navy Pier on Lake Michigan.

Try the Arugula Sherbet. Your chief scooper, Valerie, on hand to serve you !

  • DoNotMindMe

What a response… way to further the discussion.

  • DoNotMindMe

Why do you care what rich people do with their money? I can play this game all day homie.

  • barbara clemen

    hahahahahahhaha

  • Anonymous

That’s the problem with people like you: you treat it like a game.

  • Pablo

If they’re productive, we need to get all up in their ass. We gots bills to pay and mouths to feed, yo!

  • Anonymous

    Gottaxl

  • Hout Bosques

Can’t figure out if the Republican response is coming from the skinny older brother of that guy who fed bodies into the wood chipper in Fargo, or the revived cadaver of Calvin Coolidge.

I love how the GOP response is being given by a non-hysterical, non-robotic member of the GOP. The antithesis of those seeking the nomination this year. And while using a TelePrompTer.

Still has the good old out-of-touchness embodied by today’s GOP. Can’t wait for the FNC commentary post-Daniels regarding the Address and the Response.

  • Hout Bosques

Clearly the GOP decided there was one sure way to smack on the President’s SOTU – channel Alf Landon. Woot! Woot! Government doesn’t work! Woot!

  • http://mediamatters.org/ Leedog

    Excellent speech from Obama!!

    The Republican rebuttal…. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!

  • Hout Bosques

Hard to believe a guy with this colorful with this much off the wall nutso flair was a budget official.

  • Anonymous

I must say Mitch Daniels did a superb job, much better than the idjit in charge, the TOTUS guy, the manchild

  • DoNotMindMe

Your earlier question was: “Why do you care how people you don’t know live their life?”

You don’t know rich people, why do you care how they live? It’s a fair question, heck, you even posed the question.
If a rich person takes risks, thinks of a good idea, product, or service, and invests capital in that good or service, than they deserve to be rich if other people are willing to buy what they offer. Just because they have money doesn’t mean they HAVE to give it to the government so they can fund welfare programs, etc. You are yet to explain your point and ideology, you just keep spewing talking points.

    Socialist

What does that have to do with dem vs GOP

  • Anonymous

While your “idjit man child” reference is both bogus and sad, I’ll be mature and agree that Governor Daniels provided an excellent rebuttal.  If more Republicans sounded more like him and less like you, perhaps you guys would have a shot at taking the presidency this fall.

  • DoNotMindMe

No, women with children should have husbands not ‘baby daddies’

  • DoNotMindMe

It doesn’t. But the Democratic party would like to tax rich people so we can throw more money at welfare instead of teaching people to have self-responsibility and plan out their lives so they don’t run into obstacles. (Like having a baby out of wedlock at age 20, with no college education, and then living on welfare in order to raise your child).

It’s that assholes tax cuts that are bankrupting the U.S.,you dim bulb.

I guess we watch the same stuff…

  • Anonymous

They are going to want him to run now:) How was the speech? Honestly I never watch those things. All the clapping and crazy promises annoy me. And im a Obama supporter. State of the Union speeches are silly.

  • Anonymous

    No wayyy…I didn’t watch the GOP response…But Obama’s speech was lackluster…

I actually got up to get a Kool-Aid pouch right after he said, “We don’t begrudge financial success in this country”…Uh, ya. OK.

    Drinkin’ the Kool-Aid!

  • Anonymous

    Sorry Kiddo, its the spending.

  • Anonymous

‘Cmon, his reply doesn’t even count.

You have to focus on what the President said…That was the whole purpose of tonight.

  • Anonymous

NO, the old white guy kissed too much booty in the beginning of his rebuttal.

  • Pablo

Well, it’s about damned time. But that’s a pretty small drop in GE’s awfully big bucket of outsourcing.

  • Anonymous

I have to say, this whole State of the Union address almost put me to sleep, like 3 times…boring…

Applause was Not enthusiastic…Speech was Not inspiring, and included out right lies.

And Hillary sure looked like she’d been to hell and back-good God woman-get makeover, a facelift, something…

  • Anonymous

I woke up when Obama said, “People like me, and an awful lot of members of Congress need to pay our fair share.”

Well, what I want to know, is, if you feel like you aren’t paying enough in taxes, why aren’t you writing another check?

  • Anonymous

Ive got an idea. Lets have the rich pay no taxes. Then there will be no social programs and people will be way better off! Just like everyone was back before taxes! Before that it was a utopia ,I for the life of me cant understand why government and the people agreed to income tax. SSN and Medicare just came out of nowhere. There was no real need in society for these silly programs!  Old people back then lived to a ripe old age and didn’t need any help with their medical bills! People didn’t lose their jobs and the churches were able to help the disabled and sick just fine! Food stamps? Baaaaa back in the good old days you just foraged for your fruits ad vegetables. Mental Illness? Omg these people were put in rubber rooms and lived happy productive lives. Unemployment insurance? Well what the hell is that for? If you happened to lose your job somehow well, geez you just went to dear old mom and dad who had plenty of money because they weren’t taxed.! labor laws? Baaaaaa people loved to work 80 hr weeks without vacation or sick time, damn unions and their work and safety rules. How many limbs do you really need to be an effective worker? I don’t know about you but im moving to a place that is still like these good old days. Here I come CHINA!!

  • Anonymous

I loved the lie “General Motor’s back on top as the World’s #1 auto maker.”

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

I agree. It is about time.

  • Anonymous

Exactly! Paris Hilton is a great example of this. Look at the risk she has taken with daddies trust fund omg. She is my hero. Such an entrepreneur and she has 100 million in stocks and she only has to pay 15% on the dividends for the rest of her life! And she is and amazing job creator as well! Look at all the jobs she has created for the unwashed masses and porn connisuers! Im so happy that I have to pay twice in much in taxes that she does. After all she is a job creator and im only a cop protecting society and making 65,000 a year. Im just thankful she has given me the ability to work.

  • Anonymous

You’re the guy ranting about “baby daddies,” and you’re casting aspersions at me.  An interesting parallel can be drawn between wealth and who a baby’s daddy is though.

I’m not against entrepreneurship and a fair capital gains tax for those who risk what they’ve already earned in a gamble for more.

I am against the middle class giving most of if not all the money to the government to fund “the welfare programs.”  And, um, everything else like national defense and infrasructure.

  • Anonymous

Taxes go to a lot more than just welfare.

Somehow, I didn’t think you knew that.

  • Anonymous

It was not nearly as partisan as predicted.  I’d characterize it as populist and centrist in tone with sprinkles of liberalism, 87/100.

  • Anonymous

Babies, Children, should not have to grow up with out a father.

And, the government does regulate the family…they allow deductions, require immunizations, coerce a parent into a myriad of safety regulations that if you fail to follow, could put you in jail…

Now, the government wants to be the exercise police, the weight police, the nutrition police…it goes on and on.

  • Anonymous

Do the wealthy really say, “We deserve special tax breaks, and we deserve to get richer while everyone else gets poorer?”

BS. You are full of it, and the feline and equine and canine kind, too.

Rich people do not want to see people get poorer, and they absolutely abhor seeing homeless beggars on the corner…

The idiocy is commentary that categorizes the “rich” as inhumane people that don’t do anything for their community, for humanity, for individuals.

You are out of touch. Keep on hating.

  • Anonymous

    Flat tax.
