John Kelly Says ‘Influence’ of Trump’s Family in White House Has to Be ‘Dealt With’

Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly did not demur about the role that President Donald Trump’s plays in the White House in a recent interview with Bloomberg released Wednesday morning.

Siting with David Rubenstein, titular host of The David Rubenstein Show who asked Kelly “was it complicated to have the president’s family in the government at the time?” Kelly replied, “They were an influence that has to be dealt with,”  later clarifying “By no means do I mean Mrs. Trump — the first lady’s a wonderful person.”

Both Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner hold senior advisory roles in the Trump administration and have been central to critical reports of both nepotism and unparalleled access to the commander in chief, that critics see as both nepotistic and inappropriate given the fact that neither have any previous experience in public service.
