Robert De Niro Attacks Trump in Award Speech: His Imprisonment Would ‘Make America Great Again’

“You didn’t think you were gonna get away without a fuck Trump moment, did you?”

That was the question Robert De Niro posed to the audience Sunday at the American Icon Awards. In an excerpt of his speech honoring Al Pacino (via TMZ), De Niro went to town on President Donald Trump — saying that his imprisonment would “make America great again.”

“The individual who currently purports to lead America is not worthy of any tribute [unlike the evening’s honorees],” De Niro said. “Unless you think of his impeachment and imprisonment as a sort of tribute. Now that’s how you can make America great again.”

De Niro has a history of going after Trump on television and during award shows. Famously, the Goodfellas star raged against the president at the 2018 Tony Awards.

“I’m going to say this — fuck Trump!” De Niro said. “It’s no longer ‘Down with Trump,’ it’s fuck Trump!”
