If this week’s election drove you to drink, know that you are not alone. According to a report from Forbes, Drizly.com, an alcohol delivery service experienced an 86% jump in sales. Not only that, it was their biggest non-holiday weeknight ever (weeknights for Drizly are Sunday-Wednesday).
What people were drinking was also different. Drizly’s Chief Cocktail Officer, Trisha Antonsen told the magazine that “the spike in wine and spirits sales was surprising… Beer is typically the top category for us,” she said. “It looks like people needed something a little stronger on Tuesday night.”
As the night wore on, people started drinking more and more hard alcohol, though wine was still the top choice for the night, accounting for 48% of all orders. New York drank the most, followed by Boston, Denver, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.
