Bernie Sanders to Meet With Former Female Staffers Harassed During Presidential Campaign
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders will meet with former female staffers from his 2016 presidential campaign who were allegedly sexually harassed by his top adviser, according to Buzzfeed sources.
Sanders’ team has arranged for the women to travel to Washington, D.C., where they will meet with Sanders and his senior staff members Wednesday. Their flights and hotel costs will be covered by the Senator’s campaign account.
Jenny Yang and Pamela Coukos, two working members of a diversity and inclusion consulting group in Washington, D.C., will be facilitating the meeting between the young women, Sanders, and his team.
The meeting comes on the heels of Sanders’ promise to “be actively involved” in the process of improving working conditions and behaviors surrounding sexual victims and harassers.
“Our standards of safeguards were inadequate” in the 2016 campaign, Sanders had said last week.
Robert Becker, Sanders’ former advisor who was accused of forcibly kissing a young woman on the lips, denied the allegations but was removed swiftly from the campaign team.
