Bob Dole Announces Endorsement in 2016 Republican Race

Former Republican Kansas Senator and presidential candidate Bob Dole announced in an interview with ABC News Monday that he was endorsing Marco Rubio for president.

The endorsement comes after Dole’s first choice Jeb Bush dropped out of the race following a disappointing showing in South Carolina. “Now that my good friend Jeb Bush is no longer running, I’m supporting Rubio,” Dole told ABC.

Rubio worked for the Dole campaign in Florida in 1996. “I’ve had an acquaintance with him way back in ’96 when he was a hard worker. As much as I love John Kasich, you know, Rubio I think is probably a better candidate,” Dole said.

Dole threw some barbs at Ted Cruz while he was at it. “[Rubio] wants to grow the party as opposed to Cruz. I don’t know what he wants to grow.”
