Donald Trump: We Can’t Keep Letting China ‘Rape Our Country’
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump upped his rhetoric against the nation of China Sunday, accusing the country of the “rape” of the United States.
Trump cited the large trade deficit between the United States and China. “We can’t continue to allow China to rape our country. And that’s what they’re doing, it’s the greatest theft in the history of the world,” he said.
This is hardly the first time Trump has used this provocative language. “China is raping this country,” Trump said in 2011. “OPEC is laughing at us.”
Trump made the remarks while campaigning in Indiana where he’s come under fire for complementing and bragging about an endorsement from Mike Tyson, himself a convicted rapist.
