Just in time for the holidays, Fiona Apple has come up with some new music, though it’s probably not what you’re expecting. She’s written her own version of “The Christmas Song,” known to many as “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire” for its classic first lyrics. According to a report from Stereogum, the video was posted to a Tumblr page for Fiona Apple fans, but where it originally comes from is unknown.
The song begins, “Trump’s nuts roasting on an open fire / As he keeps nipping at his foes / You’ll cry ‘creepy uncle’ every time he arrives / For he keeps clawing at your clothes / Everybody knows some money and entitlement / Can help to make the season white,” and it continues on in the same manner.
She finishes the song off by singing some of the actual lyrics, “So I’m offering this simple phrase / For kids from 1 to 92 / Although it’s been said many times, many ways/ Merry Christmas to you.”
At the end of the video, she rips a photo of President-Elect Donald Trump.
